EDR Presidential Gazebo and shoes?

Hey ladies, for those of you who got married at the EDR's presidential gazebo did you wear shoes with your dress? I don't think there is a walkway, is there? The sand doesn't look too deep from the pictures. I was wondering if some wedge flip flops would work (I'm concerned about being too short), or if you think barefoot is the only way to go? I'm finally going dress shopping and don't know how to deal with the subject of shoes.

Hey Nolaroy! First of all- I LOVE "sleepy fred" - what a cutie! I'm also getting married at the Presidential Gazebo-- so I'd be interested to hear from anyone, also. I am going to be barefoot- always dreamed of getting married barefoot on the beach! -but it would be nice know for the guests......

I have heels and 3.5 inch wedge flip flops. So I should be able to get the dress hemmed at the same length. They have a great selection of wedge flip flops at My Glass Slipper.

 

I heard that they are building a portable wooden walkway that you could use too.

 

I'd be all for getting married barefoot if I wasn't 5'2". I'd need a stepstool to kiss my husband during the ceremony!

I'm 5'2" as well, and my FI is 6'2", so you can understand my concern as well. Hmmm, I'll have to ask Monica abou that portable walkway. Thanks!

Hmm- I'm the giant here! All you cute 5'2" girls!!!!!!! I'm 5'9"- thankfully the FI is 6'5"- so it evens us out... - thanks for tip on the portable wooden walkway-- that would be a nice touch if available- I'm planning on having a isle runner, so it might work out better -I'm pretty clumsy- the more support the better- I can totally see myself tripping on the sand and splatting face-down halfway down the "aisle." hehe..

 

and nolaroy--- yes, they are bad-- like 2 brothers who get each other in trouble and wrestle, etc-- cuties and I love them - but complete trainwreck doggies

We were moved to the Presidential after the Casita Gazebo location was made smaller by the hurricane. We hadn't really looked at the Presidential Gazebo on our initial visit b/c we liked the casita one especially b/c it had the walkway. I'm 5'4" and DH is 6'4".

 

When we arrived we checked out the Presidential Gazebo and did not like it. This is clearly just our opinion but we felt it was wedged into a little area and wasn't all that pretty. There are also "do not enter" signs on ropes about 10' away that run the whole length b/c it is right next to the Presidential suites.

 

In terms of the walkway, it is a very long walk at the Presidential Gazebo. But you should be okay with wedge heels. I was glad I had my Dad walk me down the aisle. Once I got onto the aisle runner it was okay but I had seriously considered going barefoot but my dress was hemmed for 3" heels. I had the red carpet covered with a double aisle runner and it made it pretty easy to stand in non-wedge heels. Though walking around the table to sign the documents was a little bit of a challenge.

 

As for that Gazebo, we changed to the Faisanes Gazebo. It is all the way at the end of the Casita section so it felt very secluded and really gave us the open feeling we wanted for our beach wedding. It was perfect!

 

I'm going to try to write my review soon and I'll give you ladies all the details

So, they let you change ceremony locations once you get there and can look at them!??! That would be really cool. We are in a similar situation- we were originally scheduled for the casita-but then it was too small, so we are currently booked for the Presidential-but the signs-thing kinda worries me--plus, we are having a private cocktail party right after ceremony at Giovatas Bar- which I believe is completely on the other side of resort?!!?!? (then back to Fuentes for dinner?!?!)

 

I haven't heard of the Faisanes Gazebo, might have to look into that---- thanks again, Bre!!!!

I would highly recommend Faisanes. Given the choice between the two I wouldn't even consider the Presidential.

Faisanes was the ultimate "on the beach" wedding location. Beautiful with amazing views. It felt wide open. I don't have a good photo of it yet.

We had our cocktail reception at Gaviotas which was great b/c it's super close and it was on the way to our reception at Tucanes. Our guests also enjoyed that it was right on the beach. many of them were peaking out taking photos with their own cameras while vincent and diego worked (who are by the way, the BEST).
