Mayan Palace - Review + LOTS of PICS

Recommended Posts

First off, the reception/ceremony area is BEAUTIFUL. Loved it!!! Like Edna (Mora) said, this place is made for weddings. I love the fact that you can get married, eat and dance the night away all in the same close vicinity. I took tons of pics for you ladies (hope it's not too many!).

Priscilla from Prisar was our guide. She seemed to really know her stuff here - all the staff knew her and seemed to like her which is a big plus! I did have a little trouble understanding her because of her strong accent but overall it was not a big problem - just make sure you ask for clarification on anything you don't understand.

I love the jetty - it's really breathtaking. My favorite part was standing out on the furthest point where a bride and groom would stand. The views are incredible. The only thing was that the ground is a little uneven for me but I guess that is to be expected. I wouldn't recommend high heels because of this. Btw, I think she said you can fit around 70-80 ppl on the jetty which seemed like a lot to me. I'd say around 50 comfortably, but then again I don't get paid for this cheesy.gif

For the ceremony she said we could either set up A) on the little reception terrace with candles filling the beach (sand) area or B) on the beach. Since we are having a smaller wedding I definitely would have gone with the entire reception (cocktails, dinner & dancing) on the terrace/lounge area. I love the idea of candles filling the beach. FYI I think she said you would need 1 outside light source if you went this route and 2-3 if you do it on the beach (this costs extra).

Bottom line was that FI really preferred to not have the wedding at a hotel. This is why we decided to go with Las Caletas instead of Mayan Palace. However, I must say I was VERY torn. If we were to have done it on the mainland I would have been in love with this location.

If you have any questions please post in here and I will do my best to answer them!

NOW, onto the pics! (Bare with me here, there are a LOT)

P.S. I put the pics on "Message Board" (down from 800 x 600 to 640 x 480) size because I like to see the details. If these are too large let me know and I will scale them down to "Email" size (320 x 240)

I love how you can view the Melia (which is where we are staying with our guests! Its close enough for guests to walk back after the wedding, but far enough for them to avoid getting a good look where the wedding will take place.
