How close to the wedding should you pick up the dress??

I know!!!! I am starting to wonder how I am even going to make it to the wedding. I already can't sleep at night and can't possibly focus. Imagine if it were a huge 250-300 person wedding in a church at home. I would have already ran!!!!!!!!
