How Tacky is this???

Recommended Posts

I am so sorry that youâ€re going through this. I am planning my bacheloret party and I am so excited. I wanted to make sure that the whole thing is crazy fun and off the hook. I will take any advise or ideas from my girls, but I would like the finally say so. You might want to throw some ideas out via email to your friends and that way you donâ€t feel like your doing all the planning or hire a party planner! Either way I hope you the best.

I'm so glad I posted this! I thought it was this big awful thing to plan my own party, but I don't feel nearly as strongly about it now, especially when I read posts from others that have done it for themselves too!!
As Tammy said, this way I get to have the night exactly as I would want it. And I'm sure once everyone gets caught up in talking about that night, friends will suggest plans and different ideas for us.
Cool, I'm not really dreading this anymore - I'm totally excited!!!!

This is my same situation!! But I feel the same way you do now - I am planning my own! It is super fun - another reason to get together with everyone. I mean seriously we only get married once (well for now lol) so don't we at least deserve a big bash!! OF COURSE WE DO!!

I get that people are superbusy, I am a lawyer and work crazy hours and never have time to do anything but if my best friend was getting married I would make the time to plan her stagette. I'm sorry that you feel upset but I think you should take Jill's advice and just plan a get together so you won't feel embarrased for planning your own (although I feel there is nothing to be embarrased by). It sounds like it could be tons of fun and this way you get to end up doing whatever you want and don't get stuck doing something sucky. LOL. Good luck with the planning and let us know if you need help with anything.

FH and I are planning a combined bachelor/bachellerte party. It never occured to me to feel weird about planning it. Maybe because I'm not doing anything traditional. I'm having a DW, I'm not having any wedding shower and I'm not getting my bridal party to help out. What does make me feel weird though is that the bachelor/bachelorette party will be most of FH's friends. I'm relatively new to this city, don't know too many people and my MOH does not live here.

Hmm- how hard is it to send out an evite? It takes like 20 minutes top---- that is not super cool of your friend...

I'll end up planning mine- I'm kinda the "party planner" of the crew- and I'm thinking I would just like the girls to have a weekend at the beach in late April- so I'm planning on organizing it and it'll be a laying out/drinking/shopping weekend-- at least this way- you'll have it the way you want too!! :):)

I sort of started planning my own bachelorette party. It was one of those things where we all talked about it, but no one stepped up and offered to plan. So I started planning and mentioned to a friend at a party that I had started looking for hotels, limos, etc. and she volunteered to take over. Now all I have to do is send her my invite list!

Ok, I gotta say that I'm not really buying your friends excuse. I work 12 hour days everyday, go home to cook, do laundry, run errands, etc.... and even I could find the time to at least ask for a guest list of email addresses and email an invitation to a restaurant/bar. At the minimum, I guess that's what I'd do in her shoes.

Now, the other side of it, is that if she isn't your MOH anymore, then traditionally it really isn't her responsibility. Would that stop me from doing this for my best friend? nope, I'd still do it.

Last, I agree with everyone else. there are a lot of "pros" to planning this yourself. You'll have ultimate say in the who/where/when of it, which is a really nice thing. And, you'll still get to spend the evening celebrating with your friends.

If I were in your shoes, I'd plan the thing myself, invite all the people I want there. But I'd probably be pissed off enough to take it one step further and NOT invite the former MOH.... if she's too busy to plan, then it's a given that she'd be too busy to attend. (Spoken from the passive-agressive side of me!)

I really don't understand what the hang-up is about planning our own bachlorette party? I mean its a party for those women that are closest to you to celebrate with you and have a fun time. Isn't that what a wedding is (plus the men of course).

No one has any problems planning their own wedding so why would there be an issue planning your own bachlorette party?

You are asking for nothing of people but to go out and have a great time with you, no one will think anything of it. And this way you get to do what you want to do instead of someone else's idea of what your good time is.
