What time was your beach ceremony?

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to get some feedback from people about different ceremony times and how that worked out overall in your schedule of events.

Mine is currently scheduled at 2pm. I'm worried that it will be way too hot (I will provide parasols and fans for the guests). I would have liked 4pm, but there is another ceremony scheduled at that time so I'm out of luck. I don't really want to do mine right after the 4pm ceremony, since the other couple will likely stick around taking their beach photos and all. I was thinking 6pm, but then that doesn't leave much time for pictures before the sun sets.

I also love the idea of an early morning ceremony, but would my hair and makeup last all day until the reception at night? Maybe not. Then I would need to pay the photographer to be there the entire day as well (I was hoping to hire a photographer for 5 hours max).

Not sure what to do!

I think maybe you should consider pics before the wedding and then have the wedding at 6pm...

We were told that 6pm would be good because of sunset...but FI thinks that it's not enought time. He thinks that after dinner and everything there would only be like 2 hours to dance...so we are thinking maybe 5:30?

Mine is at 5:00 on the beach. I was adament that it be as late as possible after experiencing a friend's 2:00 DW ceremony on the beach. Although it was a beautiful ceremony and her wedding was one of the reasons I also decided to have a DW, there were certain things about that 2:00 spot that she hated. 1. It was soooo hot (think hot sand and bare feet) 2. There were tons of "impromptu" guests standing around watching, including banana hammock guy and his topless wife (the pics are priceless though), 3. We had a few hours between the ceremony and the dinner. She said had she done it again, she would have done it later because everyone starts to head back around 5:00 to get ready for dinner and such so the beaches are less crowded.

FI and I are thinking 6:30 - because we figure most "volunteer guests" will have left the beach, and it will be cooler, and lend itself to cocktail hour and a late dinner better.

That being said, in August you still have quite a bit of light. We'll still likely do photos before hand.
