Order of Wedding Party

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a specific order that the wedding party is supposed to be in, other than the maid of honor and the best man? How did you all choose the order of the party?

The last wedding I was in was Maid of honor, matron of honor, then her other friend that was in the wedding. The next three were his family starting sister, sister in law, cousin. The grooms men were in height order.

I thought it was done well because the friends were together & the family were together. It also wasn't this obvious ranking of importance. I was in one wedding where we were ranked in order of how much she liked us. I didn't like that at all. Another wedding was in height order for the girls & guys.

we did it in order of how long we had been friends with them since they were all friends. Our Best Man and Maid of Honor had both been our best friends for quite a long time, and then the rest of the party went from there.

If we are talking about the order that they walk down the aisle, then I did first friends (3), then FI's family members that are in my wedding party (3), my best friend from childhood, my youngest sister, and finally my MOH (other sister) ... holy crap, I have one big freakin wedding party!

I don't have to worry about height or anything like that because we decided to let the bridal party sit through the ceremony. We are jewish so our immediate family is going to be under the canopy with us according to tradition.

This is going to be a tricky one for me as I have 7 bridesmaids and only 3 groomsmen!

I was thinking, youngest 2 bridesmaids first 13 & 15 years, then another pair BM, then another pair BM then MOH then me and my Dad? So kind of just ignoring the boys.

Then my hubbys BM can be standing with him and my MOH can be standing with me and everyone else can sit

Any suggestions?
