shower hostess gifts for 5 girls? (and 1 more)

I have 4 bridesmaids, 1 MOH, and 2 ushers.

 

MOH is my sister, and she is throwing me a bridal shower in NY (where I grew up) w/my mom's help.

 

The 3 local bridesmaids and 2 ushers (also local and very close to me) are all throwing a bridal shower in Los Angeles for me (where I've lived past 10 years). They are having it at one of the bridesmaid's place.

 

Do I get 5 separate hostess gifts for my 3 bridesmaids and 2 ushers to give them after the shower? And this is addition to their bridesmaid and usher gifts later? (obviously the same would go for my sis).

 

What did you guys do? Maybe I should get them sarongs - pareos as hostess gifts?

Ooh. Good question. I like the idea of sarongs!! Or big floppy sun hats (one of my favorite things).

 

But I'd say yes, something for each of them. That way there are no hurt feelings, etc.

Until BDW, I had never heard of giving Hostess Gifts.

 

I am having 3 showers ... 1 hosted by my sister(BM) and aunt ... one hosted by FH's best man and wife, and another hosted by BM's.

 

My Mom has said a Thank You card will do just fine ... but BDW has me questioning that.

I gave my Bridesmaids a VS bag with travel size lotions, etc for their Mexico trip. I don't think anyone brought it with, but I'm sure a small gift is appreciated but not necessary. I also wrote a note and gave a small gift to the owner of the house (friend) where the party was located.

 

For favors I found small shower gels and shower scrubby thing and put together with a tag that said "From my Shower To Yours. Love, Angela"

angela, am I responsible for the Shower Favors? I thought that was the hostess's job?

I never heard of hostess gifts either until BDW. Not sure what i'm going to do, maybe something little like a yankee candle.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this one.

I just don't see where the extra $$ would come from b/c I am just about 110% tapped out -- with much more still to do!
