I am freaking out, the menu that was sent to me today, is not the same

very limited food selection and prices have went up. So I have 2 menus for 2008 not sure which one is current. I did email the WC to see what's going with the menus .Then they want to charge $4.50 for water, I do not understand that, $4.50 for tap water in pitcher is crazy!!!! I hope the meant $4.50 for bottle water.

The 2008 menu is definatly different from their 2007. It seems a little more "upscale to me". Mara said that they can stil use the 2007 menu, but there will be a 6% increase in price. Also, if you are doing an open bar, the domestic includes soda and bottled water.

Be firm with her. Whatever menu she gave you when you signed the wedding contract is the one they need to honor. It doesn't matter if prices have gone up since then, what they gave you originally is what you were told you would be paying. Find the list she originally gave you and make your selections off of that. Don't be afraid to push back on this. They nickel and dime you there, so make sure you read and follow up on everything.

Oh, and although it's expensive, I suggest going with the open bar rather than paying on consumption. There will be no way to track who is drinking what and you don't want to spend your wedding day freaking out that the bar tab is getting high. At least this way, your guests can drink as much as they want and you know exactly what the bill will be in the end. No stress and no confusion.

I had my wedding there on 7/7/07 and I just wanted to give the heads up to watch the bar. We did the pay per drink and they opened wine bottles all around at dinner without our request so there was a huge charge for the wine that most people did not drink. I wouldn't worry too much about the food cost, it's fabulous.

I recently also got another menu from Mara. However, I emailed her and made sure that the previous menu, the one I got when I signed the contract, was still applicable. She assured me that it was and said that I could pick off of either one.

Jen is totally right. Whatever menu and PRICES that were sent to you when you signed your original contract are the ones you must insist upon (unless I guess you want to pick a new item from the newer menu). I would also highly advice doing an open bar versus a consumption bar. We went on consumption and the bill was MUCH higher than expected (long story). What we did do however was have bottled water taken off the menu and insisted that pitchers of tap (filtered of course) water be placed on every table. I imagine this saved a LOT of money.

They also opened and served red and white wine at dinner but I liked this so it didn't bother me. However you could certainly request that this not be done if you feel your guests would not be ordering it anyway.
