Hi all, I am a newbie and would love to have my wedding in Turks & Caicos in 2018. I would like to get married on the beach and have a small/medium reception. My friends who frequent TC - suggested The Somerset since it is close to other hotels and an easy walk to shops. But wanted to see what other venues we could explore. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

Hi Brides, I spent a lot of time lurking on this site as I was planning my destination wedding, so I thought I'd post some thoughts about how it all turned out. We got married at El Dorado Maroma on Dec. 30. EDM is a smaller resort, but don't let that deter you - it was absolutely awesome! The resort is beautiful, the beach is one of the best in the world and the service is outstanding. We loved that it was a smaller resort - we had about 35 guests stay there and we could always find people in our group without any trouble. The restaurants were great - 5 restaurants in total and a good variety of food. The only "downside" with this resort would be that the nightlife is pretty quiet, but we were an older crowd and it didn't bother us at all. One of the nights was the wedding and another night was New Year's Eve, so we had plenty of stuff to do. Weddings by Lomas is the company that provides the wedding services - we had Shelley as our coordinator and she was great! We picked the resort in February for the December wedding and over that whole time she was very responsive - I never had to wait more than a day for a response and most often it was quicker than that. She provided me a lot of information to help me plan - at one point she sent me pictures of every flower that the florist had in my color scheme so I could pick what I wanted in my bouquet. So while there is a huge number of pre-arranged flower arrangements for bouquets, they basically made me a custom one and it wasn't very expensive. We also had a few last minute guests and she accommodated this with no issue. When we arrived at the resort, we had the pre-wedding meeting and met the on-site coordinators (Paty and Nelly) and Shelley. They went through all of the details of the wedding - down to every decision that I had made along the way to make sure everything was in place. They even helped me pick out some music for the ceremony that I hadn't gotten around to and downloaded a few songs right at the meeting to help us choose what we wanted. After that meeting, I had no concerns about the plans for the wedding. On the wedding day, Paty and Nelly brought me my flowers mid-day to make sure that I liked what the florist had put together and they were beautiful. They also brought me the hour by hour weather report for the rest of the day and I had to decide whether to keep everything on the beach or move some or all of the events inside. All week before the wedding, the weather reports for the wedding day showed 80% rain, but the forecast improved and when Paty and Nelly arrived the worst of the forecast was 55% chance of rain right when the ceremony was scheduled. It was a touch & go decision, but I looked at another weather app, and looked at the radar and decided to take my chances with the weather. We had selected Bridal Moments to be the photographer and our assigned photographer was at the pre-meeting and discussed timing and any specific shots that I wanted to have. They brought 2 photographers and they split up to get both the groom and I while we were getting ready. A few minutes before the ceremony was to begin, Nelly arrived at my room to take me to the beach. The weather was perfect - sunny and a little windy but that just helped people not be too hot. The ceremony was quick - and I don't remember much of it, I was so focused on my husband! But the guests said it was really beautiful. After the ceremony we had a 1 hour cocktail party before the reception started - also on the beach, right next to the ceremony. The groom and I did most of our pictures during this time, but we were close enough to the guests to get a lot of shots with them as well. The photographers seemed thorough - I haven't seen their proofs yet though. The reception (also on the beach) was excellent. The food was great - we got lots of compliments on everything. We had chosen the filet and the shrimp as entrees, and a mousse/crème brulee dessert, which people raved about. We just got a small cake to do the cake cutting with - we thought people would like the dessert from the menu better than the cake. The cakes were good, but the fondant icing was a little too sweet. We used DJ Max as the DJ and he was outstanding. I had given him lots of song suggestions and he picked all of the best ones and the night went without a hitch. Our guests were up dancing for the entire night - which is exactly what I wanted. DJ Max also changed songs for me if I didn't like something he had chosen. The service at the reception was top notch! The waiters and bartenders took note of what the groom and I were drinking and we never had an empty glass all night long. Many of the guests also tipped the waiters because they were so great. Another thing that we really appreciated was the location of the ceremony and reception - the resort had us away from the main beach seating area, so there weren't really any other people around. Sure, there were some people walking along the beach during the cocktail hour and reception, but overall it was very private, which was different from other destination weddings I had been to, where the ceremony was surrounded by people at the beach, in their bathing suits, watching the whole event. When we finally got back to the room, the resort had decorated it with rose petals and had brought back my bouquet and cake and a few other things from the reception, which was a nice touch. As part of the wedding package, we had breakfast room service the next day, which was also outstanding. There was an amazing amount of food - we couldn't eat it all, but everything tasted great. Overall, we both feel like El Dorado Maroma and Weddings by Lomas exceeded our expectations for our wedding. We were pleased with everything and wouldn't have changed anything about our wonderful day. Sorry for the long post, but let me know if you have any questions.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. My name is Brittney and my fiance Brian and I are having trouble narrowing down a destination spot. We were looking in the areas of Punta Cana, Mexico, Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos. We would like to find an all inclusive resort for us, family (includes kids) and friends, that we can have a wedding at as well. Also that is reasonably priced. If anyone has any recommendations, please feel free to share. Thank you, Brittney

But the agents of Wright Travel Agency -- the official agency of the Best Destination Wedding Forum -- are experts on the most popular destination regions and they are happy to share their insight when it comes to choosing the best destination area for your dream wedding celebration. Here are five reason why getting married in Costa Rica is the right choice for you. 1. You Love the Eco-Friendly Environment: When it comes to Costa Rica, being a nature lover is key because this country has it all. From beautiful beaches to epic mountains, thrilling rivers and incredible waterfalls amid the gorgeous rainforest backdrop -- Costa Rica is a haven for those who thrive in the great outdoors. And if you're a lover of sunsets, this country has some of the most lovely and dramatically colored skies at the end of each day. 2. You Thrive on Excitement and Adventure: If you're the outdoorsy type, then you'll love all the excitement and adventure that comes with it. Costa Rica is king when it comes to adventurous excursions. Hiking, river rafting, ziplining, diving, fishing, snorkeling, swimming and repelling are just a few of the exciting activities that will keep you busy in this country, So if you and your sweetheart and your wedding guests are looking to get the adrenaline pumping, this is the place to be. 3. You Love Delicious Cuisine: If you enjoy a meal that almost always includes plantains, beans and rice then this country is for you. Costa Rica has amazingly fresh seafood (the fried red snapper is a dish you'll want to try!), delicious meats and an abundance of incredibly fresh fruits and produce. Costa Rica is filled with a plethora of restaurants of varied price ranges -- head to small towns for some of the most delicious meals priced just right! 4. You Love Animals and Wildlife: They don't call this the most eco-friendly country for nothing. It's truly paradise here for animals lovers. From monkeys, sloths, birds in a rainbow of colors, insects, lizards, reptiles and butterflies galore, Costa Rica is swarming with wildlife, so make sure to always have your camera ready because you never know when you'll come across an unexpected visitor. 5. You Appreciate Warm and Friendly People: Pura Vida! It means pure life and the people of Costa Rica truly believe in this mantra. Hello!! Looking for a point in the right direction! I have my heart set on a chapel wedding with the throw in of being on a tropical island. A lot I have found you must be Catholic to use the church, which we are not. This will be a small wedding with immediate family and a traditional feel. The wedding will be held in August and leaning toward a luxury adults only Caribbean all inclusive resort and attendees will be able to stay at a sister resort. I have seen a few Sandals but wanting more options. Also, curve ball is we will be legally married in the states so his brother in law can officiate the wedding ceremony. Budget is between 10k and 15k for everything. Any and all help is much appreciated! And congratulations everyone!

Hi everyone. Hope this post is landing in the right place. Here's my situation: After planning a November wedding for San Juan, Puerto Rico, my fiance and I found out the process for our church is going to prevent us from getting married on our set date. We had already put in deposit on a venue, and with less than six months until the date, we cannot cancel and get our deposit back. We're hoping to find someone to take over the date. Old San Juan is a beautiful, vibrant place with amazing ocean views and old world architecture. Because Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, there's no need to worry about passports and visas. It's convenient, beautiful, perfect for a destination wedding. We're still planning on getting married there at a later date. Here are the details: Venue: Casa Olimpica, Old San Juan Date: Saturday, November 11, 2017 (7 hours on this date) Deposit: $1700 Total cost: $3000 I'm attaching photos of Casa Olimpica so you can get a sense of the venue. If you're interested, you'll simply pay us the deposit amount and we'll transfer the reserved date into your name. The people at Casa Olimpica are accommodating and easy to work with. Hope to hear from you soon.

How Do We Decide? - Hyatt Ziva Cancun Or Dream Tulum
ChristinaDuv posted a blog entry in ChristinaDuv's Blog
Hello BDW Brides!! I am a newbie to this site and I am already grateful for finding it. My fiance and I got engaged on Labor Day weekend 2016, and since then it has been a roller coaster of emotions trying to decide a location. I am currently a full-time nursing student, and trying to accomplish both was driving me insane. So early on I found a wonderful TA and focused on school while she took the information we shared with her and did some research. Thank heavens she did, because the amount of time I spent staring at screens reading reviews, looking at photos, and messaging people that had vacationed in Mexico and the Caribbean was overwhelming. Finally, with our TA's amazing help, we narrowed it down to three and then pretty quickly to two. Now I am torn. With every good review, there is a negative one. Any time I think I find a flaw in one resort, the same flaw pops up in the other. Hyatt Ziva Cancun and Dreams Tulum are both gorgeous, yet quite different. Instead of asking myself which I love more I constantly wonder which one my guests will love more. Which one will have them walking away in awe of what they experienced. Now that I have the costs I still don't know what to do. So here i am, ready to read through as many forums as possible on these locations in hopes there is another bride out there that wants nearly the same things I do that is basically reading my mind and has made the decision first. Crazy??..yeah, I think so too.- 3 comments

Hi – My fiancé and I are on the hunt for a non-beach destination wedding. We estimate about 40-50 people in attendance from Mexico, Canada, and the United States. We are leaning towards fall 2018. We narrowed our search to Mexico, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica based on locations with non-beach based venues. I loved Rancho Santana in Nicaragua. However, I fear the rest of our family (and many of our friends) just are not adventurous enough. I love a lot of the smaller hotels in Arenal, Costa Rica. We came across Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It offers a non-beach based venue. It is a small hotel that allows us privacy and intimacy. The reviews are also pretty incredible. I really have not found another venue that can offer as much as Playa Fiesta. We are really thinking of booking Playa Fiesta. Anyone have advice or suggestions for someone beginning the process of planning a wedding in Mexico / Puerto Vallarta / Playa Fiesta Hotel? Thank you, N

Hello everyone! I am new to this site and looking for advice on choosing a destination for our wedding! We are planning a destination wedding in February 2018 - but every time I start trying to look at different places and resorts I am overwhelmed by the options! We have both been to Cancun/Mayan Riviera, Mexico several times, although Mexico is definitely not out of the question. I have been to Cuba and loved it, and neither of us have been to Jamaica, or DR or any of the other popular tropical destination wedding locations. We will likely have 50+ people attending, we have 3 children (ages 9-17, possibly a few other younger ones coming as well), and price point is definitely a factor! How in the world does one start looking through the list of thousands of possibilities and start narrowing it down?? Any advice you have is much appreciated!!

This post is the final part of my 3 part review of SWO and my wedding in Jamaica. If you missed Part 1 & 2 go back and read them as there is valuable info about the resort, outside vendors, and SWO wedding coordinators. (Part 1 of 3 is here and part 2 of 3 is here) BRINGING DECORATIONS FROM HOME I brought 1 suitcase of various items from home with me for decorating the gazebo and took them to the meeting with the wedding coordinator 2 days before our wedding. I was a little worried before the meeting because during my emails with the wedding coordinators they said I would have to pay a minimum of $50 for setting up my decorations on the gazebo. This annoyed me because all the other SWO brides on here said the wedding coordinators set everything up for them for free and these brides had way more stuff than I did. Turns out I was worried for nothing though because once I got to the meeting the coordinators said they would take care of everything and there would be no extra charge. My room was overlooking the gazebo and on the day of the wedding I was able to watch them decorating the gazebo. It was very windy and they struggled quite a bit to get my drapery hung but they never gave up and in the end it looked beautiful. I will say I did bring a little treat of maple candies I picked up at the airport before leaving Canada for each of the wedding coordinators to our meeting so not sure if this helped them decide not to charge me but I’m pretty sure it didn’t hurt either CEREMONY (MINISTER, CAKE, VIOLINST) There are several beautiful locations throughout the resort where you can have your ceremony but we chose to have our ceremony at the gazebo on the Wild Orchid side. I will break down each of the other location options in the next section. We really loved the Wild Orchid gazebo location since it out on a pier and you can only get to it by walking down a long boardwalk so it was more private than the other locations. If you have 12 guests or less then I highly recommend the Wild Orchid Gazebo location. We chose to have our wedding in the 4pm time slot so we could take some sunset pictures after the ceremony. Getting married at 4pm is a little risky since this is the time of day you are most likely to experience “liquid sunshine” in Jamaica but we were lucky and did not have a single drop of rain on our wedding day. As a side note: you can pay extra to have your wedding at 5PM which they call the sunset wedding option but before booking it check with dateandtime.com because depending on the time of year the sun might not be setting until later so you’ll pay extra for nothing. When we got married in February the sun was setting until 6:30PM. The ceremony is 20 minutes long and then you have another 30 minutes to do the post ceremony activities (IE: champagne, cake). the wedding coordinators run the whole thing with precision. They did do a beautiful job but I often felt like they were rushing us through the signing of the marriage certificate and cake cutting to stay within their allotted time. Even our photographer cracked a joke about being in the military at one point. Just before the ceremony was about to start one of the wedding coordinators came and picked me up with a golf cart from the lobby of my building. She escorted me to the start of the gazebo boardwalk and instructed me when to start walking so I would be in sync with the wedding music. She also reminded me to keep my head up and smile so Misha would capture good pictures which I appreciated because I probably would have looked down to avoid tripping had she not reminded me Music - originally I was just going to bring some pre-recorded music on my iPod but in the end decided to splurge and hire the violinist provided by the resort. I’m so glad I made this change. He was so amazing and added an extra something to our ceremony. I provided a list of songs I wanted to the wedding coordinators during the planning stage and they confirmed with the violinist that he could play them. I originally asked the wedding coordinators for a list of what he could play but they said he didn’t have one and to just request what I wanted and they would check with him to see if he could play those songs. Not sure if they were just being lazy or if he really doesn’t have a play list but either way everything I asked for he was able to play. I had him play “All of me” by John Legend when I walked down the aisle and he did it flawlessly. His name is Jose Salgado and here is a link to a YouTube video of him playing a selection of songs: When you get the violinist you have him for 1 hour so I had him arrive 15 before the ceremony to play music for our guests before I arrived. He then stayed after the ceremony and played music while we were having our champagne toasts and cake. I highly recommend hiring him. Minister - Our minister’s name was Terrence and he was such a character. We met with him at the wedding coordinator meeting 2 days before our wedding and went over the details of the ceremony. He then told us we had two choices how to respond to his questions during the ceremony. We could either say “I do” or we could say “I will”. He suggested we go with “I will” as “I do” means you’ve already done it, “I will” means you will always do it. We chose to say “I will” During the ceremony Terrence had us all laughing with little jokes and crying tears of joy during the tender moments. I’m not sure if the resort only uses him as their minister but if not request Terrence; he’s fantastic. Cake - Right after the ceremony and marriage certificate signing we moved on to the cake. Since we had the free package we had a 1 tier cake in either chocolate or vanilla. We chose vanilla and it was delicious. This cake feeds about 12 people so we had leftovers and asked the wedding coordinator’s box up a second slice for my grandparents to take back to their room, had a second slice boxed and sent to our room for later and then had the rest of the cake delivered to the Preferred Club concierge staff to share. They really appreciated this and it meant the cake didn’t go to waste. PS – I brought individual size cake boxes from home for this. You can buy them from Michaels. During the pre-wedding meeting with the coordinators I gave them a cake topper I had made to match my other flowers and some dark blue ribbon. They passed those onto the cake people and they decorated the cake with the items I provided. They did not charge extra to decorate the cake. My husband is a firefighter so since we were getting married far from home and couldn’t have true firefighter wedding I special ordered a fire axe with our names and wedding date engraved to use for cutting our cake. We gave that to the wedding coordinators at the meeting too and they made sure it made it safely to the ceremony and then kept it safe after the ceremony until we picked it up at their office the next day. It was actually pretty funny when I first pulled the axe out of the suit case to show them at our meeting. Their eyes got so wide and they looked scared until we told them what it was for. Then they each took turns waving it around and telling my husband he better behave or else apparently we were the first people to bring a fire axe to cut our cake because they thought it was a great idea and said had never seen it before. As a side note – We live in Ottawa Canada so once the weather got nicer at home we arrange to have a local photographer capture a post wedding photo shoot with my husband in his firefighter uniform and me in my wedding dress. Even though it was not our wedding day it was nice to be able to capture this very important aspect of our lives. I will make a separate post about this topic later. ALTERNATE LOCATIONS FOR CEREMONY If the Wild Orchid gazebo is not suitable for you because your group is too large or you don’t like the location then you have a few other options around the resort. The St.James side also has a gazebo on the water but in my opinion the Wild Orchid is in a better location and looks like it is better maintained. Just like Wild Orchid it is only suitable for groups of 12 or less. For larger groups you have the option to get married in the beach front casita. This location is nice but is very close to the main Wild Orchid pool and right beside the main water front walking path of the resort. This means it is not private at all. You have about 25 feet of space between the walkway and where you will stand to get married. We witnessed several other weddings at this location while we were there and each time a big crowd of people in wet bathing suits were gathered watching the ceremony and taking pictures. I’m sure this crowd made the wedding photographer’s job harder….trying to capture the bride and groom’s special moments while trying to keep the fat middle aged man in a speedo out of the shot The wedding coordinators do try to contain the crowd and keep them quiet but if you’ve ever been in a big group of drunk people then you know this is easier said than done. If having a bunch of “looky loos” watching your wedding doesn’t matter to you then go ahead and book this location as it is right on the water so you won’t need to decorate it much to have a pretty backdrop for your pictures. If you do have your ceremony in this location the wedding coordinators will set up your dinner reception on the small beach area right beside it so everything will be in the same location. small beach area beside casita where receptions are View from casita to main walkway View from main walkway to casita The alternate location for larger groups is the on the beach right in front of the Barracuda beach bar on the Wild Orchid side. This location is more private than the Casita but there is no shade so if you are worried about your guests sitting in the hot sun rent a tent or maybe provide them with cute parasols in your wedding colours to shade themselves. Just like the Casita the wedding coordinators will set up your dinner reception on the beach right beside your ceremony. This beach area is bigger so if you have a really large group then I would recommend it as you will have more space for everyone once the party gets started. This is the location I had chosen when I thought we were going to have a large group as I was also going to have a steel drum band and bonfire party after dinner so I wanted enough room for everything. No matter which location you choose if it rains the wedding coordinators will move your ceremony to the covered patio beside the ball room and your reception will be in the ballroom. I never asked because I wanted to be married outside but I’m sure if you wanted to get married in the ballroom or its patio (rain or shine) that would probably be an option too. PRIVATE WEDDING DINNER IN GAZEBO If you book 7 nights or more at SWO for your wedding then you will qualify for the Honeymoon package. This is apparently a $995 value that they give you for free. Along with a couple massage (which we used 2 days before the wedding) the Honeymoon package included a candlelight dinner for two during our stay. Once we discovered that it was just going to be us and my grandparents at the wedding I went ahead and booked a special dinner for my grandparents at the French restaurant (reservations are required at this restaurant if you want to sit inside.) I then asked the wedding coordinators during our pre-wedding meeting about booking our candlelight dinner for the night of our wedding. They said they could not do that and we would have to eat in one of the restaurants with everyone else or pay for a special beach dinner on our wedding night. Preferred Club Concierge to the rescue again. After our meeting with the wedding coordinators I stopping in our lobby and asked the concierge if they could book our candlelight honeymoon dinner on our wedding night and they said “no problem, mon!” Normally when you have the candlelight dinner it is set up on the beach but our concierge arranged to have it in the Wild Orchid gazebo where we got married and went even further to make sure all our wedding ceremony decorations were left up so we could enjoy them. Needless to say I tipped them well The concierge reviewed the menu options with us and we picked our selections ahead of time. For our main course we both had filet mignon and lobster and everything was delicious. Our dinner was booked for 7pm so once we were done with our photos we invited Misha and Kenmar to join us for a drink in our lobby, after our drinks we said our good-byes to them and heading off to our dinner. As we walked towards the gazebo we noticed that on top of our decorations our waiter had decorated the walkway to the gazebo and the gazebo itself with candles. During our dinner the waiter stayed at the far end of the gazebo boardwalk to give us our privacy. If we needed him we just waved and he would come. Everything was so romantic and beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and private location to enjoy our first meal as husband and wife. So this concludes my very looooooong review of SWO and Jamaica. I will leave you with the following tips and suggestions: •Stay strong and don’t get pushed around by the wedding coordinators. They will try to bully you into doing what is easiest for them but it is your wedding so fight for what is really important to you. •Get rsvps from your invited guests before the resort’s 2-month deadline. I was naïve and set my response deadline for the same day as the resort head count deadline and ended up having to chase people to get their replies. I ended up being about two weeks late with my finally head count. •Be willing to accept that many (or all) your friends and family will not be able to attend your wedding. Some will not be able to afford it, some will not want to go to the resort you choose, and some will not have a valid reason they will just not come. Every destination bride out there will tell you this is just comes with the territory of having a destination wedding. •Hire a private driver to pick you up from the airport upon arrival. You will be bringing extra luggage and having private transportation means you can get to the resort quicker….we left the airport about 15 minutes after the bus had left and still beat the bus to the resort by a good ½ hour. We hired Jeffery Stephens from Reggae Tours and he was fantastic. •If you are flying into Montego Bay book with Club MoBay for arrival and departure services. On arrival they will greet you at your gate with a sign that has you name on it and personally escort you past all the security and straight to the exit. If you’ve ever been through security in the Mo Bay airport you know what a lifesaver this service is. They also have a private lounge on arrival and departure where you can have free drinks, snacks, and freshen up/change your clothes. This is great if you are coming from or going to a cold climate since you’re not stuck in your winter clothes while travelling to or from the resort. •During the planning process don’t panic; the coordinators know what they are doing. it will all come together and be beautiful. •Most importantly: BREATHE. You are marrying the love of your life in a beautiful tropical location….enjoy the moment!

I'm currently in the process of researching venues but I'm unsure what type of search words I should use when browsing venues. Any suggestions? Can anyone tell me their experience on how they found their venue abroad? How much time did you spend looking? I just want to find the perfect venue for my day. All help much appreciated:)

Hi, My name is Francine and I am getting married in my home island, Jamaica in June 2015. I live in NJ. I am so excited, but my fiance and I don't even know where to start. We are going to Jamaica in March 2014 for vacation to try to visit a couple resorts and reserve a date for the wedding. I read a lot of these posts and viewed a lot of beautiful pictures. We want a small wedding of 50 - 60 ppl. I like Sunset Beach resort because it seems to be affordable, but I also like Rosehall Beach Resort because their grounds are beautiful and spacious. It seems to be more private. Does anyone mind sharing how much they spent for their wedding? What were your big money items? Is it best to go with the resort for everything for the ceremony and reception? Or is it cheaper to get vendors outside the resort for things like decorations, flowers, DJ, photographer? Recommendations? I appreciate any feedback. When I go and come back I'll be sure to update on the forum. Thanks

Hello everyone I may be the only groom on this site - I am away at sea with the Canadian Navy and my wife-to-be is busy with our son so I thought I'd do a little research. We live in Halifax, but have guests coming from Toronto, Ottawa, Winnepeg and of course Halifax. We have a 2 year old son (3 at the time of travel) and may of our guests have chlildren ages 2-10 so we would like something fun for them. We want our wedding to be something our son thinks of (at least for a while since he will be 3) and remembers as a really fun experience. We have decided a little kids water park is a must. Our options so far: Grand Bahia Principe Coba/Tulum Grand Bahia Principe Torquesa Memories Splash Punta Cana Barcelo Maya Colonial *Moon Palace and Iberostar Cancun* I star the last two off because although we adore them they are much outside our guests price range - if we go to expensive our son will be the only kid their and then it isnt really worth it to be so extravagent for kids. We have been working with a TA for 2 months now and things have started to go smoother but she is on a trip to the Rockies and then RIviera Maya (not any resorts we want though) and hasnt been responding - she did say that would happen though. Our budget for guests was approx 1600 and although some already fit that bill - we are still having trouble deciding (the more expensive ones always seem nicer) We want to book Barcelo but it is 1800 and our hoping our one time price adjustment plus the free adults( every 8th form our TA) can bring the price down but we dont want to rely on the price adjustment - i know we are going in the high season but from Halifax there isnt much other options and it is the day we started dating so we wanted to keep it an ongoing anniversary. Any help please.... Groom in need here...

My partner and I are travelling to NYC from Scotland next month to get married. He has been married previously but was divorced in 2014. We have his divorce certificate to bring with us to City Hall, will this be enough? I’ve read reviews that in a few countries people need to also supply a Certificate of No Impediment. Is this the case for New York? I’m now in a panic as I can’t seem to confirm this online. Can anyone help? Also, do we need to bring our birth certificates as well as our passports?

been searching every where, can't come up with any thing. I was initially looking for a family friendly all inclusive resort to have our wedding to keep costs down but then started looking at some of the off the resort options and fell in love with the Cabo Del Sol venue, the sunset de Mona Lisa, and the hacienda cocina y cantina. Initial budget was $15k, but we are willing to bump it up to $25k for the right place. If any one has any pointers on venues and realistic pricing I would be forever indebted to you! Also not sure if it is really necessary to hire a wedding planner but any advice on that would be helpful too!

Hi ladies!! My Fiance and I are getting married at the IRHB on January 17, 2017! I have seen some photos of the different ceremony locations but mostly of the Beach ceremony. Has anyone been married on the terrace or in the gardens with photos? I would love to see them as my fiance and I dont feel like stomping around in the sand but want the romance of the gardens perhaps.... Also, we are opting on a private restaurant for dinner and the pictures I have seen are also very difficult to tell what sort of decorations I could bring / use without the place looking silly. Is there enough room for a dance floor and DJ as well as all of the guests and dinner tables!? I am beginning to stress as I just want to be able to see what everything looks like set up!!

Hello Everyone! I'm newly engaged and am on the hunt for all-inclusive resorts in Mexico or Dominican Republic. It seems like the hundreds I've looked at didn't work one for reason or another. I'm pretty easy going, but truly need a resort to be budget friendly for my guests (I'm hoping to get married the weekend of April 7th-12th). My family and friends are all coming from New York so we are very spoiled with food - thus we'll need a resort with good food (doesn't have to be spectacular, but people have to be able to eat!). I am looking for a resort that is relatively modern or at least has a fresh/clean look. Another important factor is wheelchair accessibility for my grandmother - and distance from airport cannot exceed 45 minutes. We are expecting about 60 guests and these hotels and wedding ceremony availabilities are booking up so fast! Please let me know about any suggestions you all have, they will be so appreciated! Thank you tons, Regina

My husband and I are planning a trip for Jan 2016 as an anniversary/My 30th Bday/Recovery celebration and I need some help. We got married at Playacar Palace in Jan 2014 and honeymooned at Cozumel Palace and loved it at both places, they were nice, small, great food and service, and had very fun places to visit/explore around them. For this trip I'm open to some other options and was wondering what you guys would suggest? The issue; I'm having ankle surgery in Sept, so I will be 4 months into the 6 month recovery which is where I have hit the wall as far as planning. I had the other ankle operated on last year and know 100% that there's no way I could handle walking a mega resort at that point....So I need some advice on nice smaller resorts to look into. The places I've looked at/considered Akumal Wellness Resort and all of the Palace resorts except Moon. Requirements (in order of importance): - Caribbean/Mexico (east side) - Small size - All inclusive - Nice beach - Good food/service - Pool (not manditory) - Near a town/touristy area for shopping/cultural stuffs The goal is basically to go relax on the the beach, drink, eat, and not do too much else I can't really do many excursions sadly (it honestly makes me so sad because other then a cenote/ek balam tour (which I highly highly recommend), we didn't get to do much on the Riviera side during our wedding because we were busy), but if you have ideas on anything like boat tours or stuff that didn't require much walking, that would be greatly appreciated too So! Any experience at the places I've looked at? Or suggestions or recommendations for other resorts? Thanks!

Hello all brides past and future! I live in the UK and am planning my wedding in early 2017, I'm also new to the site!! I'm currently trying to pick a date and resort. I'm trying to find something affordable for my guests to come to as a lot of the resort I've looked at are 5+ stars and an absolute fortune for my guests which I'm uncomfortable with. I've got guest coming from Canada, UK, US and Germany. Does anyone have any experience as to how group packages could potentially work for me as eveyrone is coming from the different place? With this in mind I'm currently mainly looking at Barcelo Tucancun and the Grand Bahia Pricipe. Has anyone recently had a wedding at either of them? Does anyone know what the seaweed situation is at right now as well (are they cleaning it up so it's not an issue?, is still really bad?) Barcelo Tucancun - has an absolutely beautiful beach so I thought it would be perfect for my beach wedding but I can't find any recent reviews on it which concerns me. Grand Bahia Principe - is a beautiful complete with 4 different resorts I think. Tulum, Coba and Luxury Sian Ka'an and Luxury Akumal. How does this complex work? Can your guests stay at any of them and still attend the Wedding? There seem to be conflicting reports on tripadvisor in regards to this. My biggest concern with this complex is all the seaweed pictures of the beaches on tripadvisor, that's the last thing I want on the background of my pictures. If anyone can connect with me in regards to their experience I'd really appreciate it!!! Thank you!!!! Kat
