We happily celebrated our marriage at the Azul Sensatori in Mexico on March 7, 2017. I was a major DIY bride and was always on the hunt for good deals and great DIY wedding decor ideas. A huge thanks to all brides, past and present, on the bestdestinationwedding.com forum! Now that we’re back, it’s time to put my office back in order and pass along some of my extra wedding stock. I know as a Canadian bride, it was sometimes difficult to purchase items online as shipping costs were often astronomical. Also, sometime you just need a few more of something and the retailer only sells by the dozen or your local store is out of stock. I remember where I purchased everything as well and am happy to share this information with any buyers in case they need a few more of something down the road or want to colour match! I live in Oshawa, Ontario and can arrange to meet local buyers for pickup or arrange for shipping (at buyer's cost). If you require further information about items or measurements, please email me at [email protected]. I am willing to negotiate prices if bundling several items. DECOR Raffia Hand Fans - $1.00 each 8 - Brand new still with tags 9 - New but with cornflower blue ribbon and white real touch orchid Additional orchids are available. If blue is your wedding colour, some of your DIY work is already done! If not, the ribbon can be removed and replaced to suit your colour scheme. All White Ribbon Wands - $0.50 each 8 - Brand new, never used We ordered white and added a cornflower blue ribbon to each of our wands to coordinate them with our wedding colours. I’m happy to tell you how. The ones for sale are brand new and all white. 12" Blue Chinese Lanterns with Built-In White LED Light - $1.50 each 9 - Brand new, never used, still in original packaging Require two AAA batteries Clear 3 Tier Acrylic Mini Cake/Cupcake Stand - $20.00 Used once but like new Dimensions are as shown in the photo We used this at our wedding to display at small top tier for cutting then mini cakes on the other two tiers. Clear Acrylic Cake Cutting Set - $10.00 set Used once by like new Stainless steel with decorative handles I added white and blue ribbon to the handles. The white ribbon cuff is still in place but I removed the blue ribbon as it had icing on it. Can be easily customized to tie into your wedding motif. OOT BAGS We started buying OOT bag items before our RSVPs were finalized and as a result, ended up with some extra stock. Travel Size First Aid Kits - $1.00 each 9 - Brand new, still in original packaging Travel Size Advil (10 count) - $1.50 each 8 - Brand new, still in original packaging Travel Size Aloe Vera Gel (100ml) - $1.50 each 7 - Brand new, never used APPAREL Rhinestone "Bride" Shirt- $10.00 Rhinestone decal 4" high x 8" wide White v-neck, women’s size 1X Worn once, freshly laundered Tuxedo Shirt - $10.00 Black t-shirt, men’s size L Worn once, freshly laundered We wore these on our plane ride to Mexico. Other passengers thought they were great and we received lots of “congratulations” from random strangers. Ardene Sandal with Jewel Detail - $10.00 Brand new, never worn Size 8 These were my “backup” pair in case of a shoe emergency and were luckily never needed! Rhinestone Necklace & Earring Set - $10.00 Necklace worn once, clip-on style earrings not worn This costume jewelry set really sparkles and looks great on! I wore the necklace on my wedding day and received lots of compliments. I didn’t wear the earrings as I had a set gifted to me by my fiancé that I knew he wanted to see my wearing on our special day.

Hi Everyone, Any advice from anyone with Costa Rica Advice would be greatly appreciated! Getting Married June 2018 in Jaco, Costa Rica. It's frustrating and difficult to book/reserve vendors that I do not actually know (and just putting the trust into the hotel) all the way from Florida. I have seen some interesting and helpful posts from past brides but the posts date back to 2007... etc and a lot of the links are no longer able to be seen. The hotel has vendors they suggest, however, if I do not use their vendors they will charge me $100 for each new vendor I bring from the outside... Hair and makeup- they are charging me $100 for each service! I know that this is expensive because I was just in 2 weddings last year here and they were not nearly as expensive... They aren't willing to give me a group discount for my party either- everyone pays $100 for each service....I've seen the pictures of her work also, its "okay"... not overly impressed .... Officiant.... We don't necessarily need an official one as we are getting legally married first in Florida but, we'd like someone to hold the ceremony and they want to charge us over $600 for it... Violin and piano.... music They are charging me $1,100 for 2 hours.... I also need a DJ for the last hours but this price makes it difficult to do anything else... Flowers and Decor.... For tall floral centerpieces they are charging $350... what do you think? Favors... Does anyone have a suggestion of what they gave their guests seeing as though its a destination wedding and you don't want to fill their luggage with something unnecessary... Can anyone recommend a vendor they know, trust and like?! Also, if you've been married in Costa Rica, how do the above prices and features sound to you? I always thought the prices in Costa Rica should be a little better than in the states- I don't want to feel like I'm getting taken advantage of... Any input and advice is very appreciated! THANK YOU!

Hello Ladies I am in need of some serious help! I'm getting married at Now Sapphire, and I'm sure like many other resorts, the floral arrangements are very pricey. I'm also from Canada so I have to convert everything to Canadian dollars which makes the resort floral arrangements even more pricey. I've thought about making my own artificial floral arrangements? Has anyone done this? Any advice? Did your flowers make it through customs okay? Did they pack easily? Any other ideas on what to do? I don't know what to do! Please help!

Trying to decide between a traditional cake, cupcakes, donuts, or some other type of fun dessert in place of cake. What are your thoughts on this? Would you miss the cake at a wedding if there were other desserts replacing it? Have any good ideas for a replacement? Thanks everyone ????

hi friends! I'm looking for some feedback / ideas on our centerpiece mock-ups.... A few ideas/comments: I'm planning to frost the bottles, so it's a little softer we have 8 tables and my initial thought is to do a different flower arrangement for each table Plan to use the silk flowers to help keep costs down yes, the vase is a small patron/tequila bottle do the flowers/vase add to the centerpiece or do they distract? Are the flowers needed or does the bottle on it's own look ok? FI likes the first and last photo the best... Thoughts? feedback? love em? hate em?

Mehndi and Sangeet Ceremony Decor Inspiration by Grupo Gama
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Planning
Unlike traditional wedding celebrations, Indian Weddings often span over the course of several days with a series of special cultural ceremonies and practices. Some of those gatherings include the Mehndi and Sangeet ceremonies, which are typically held a few days before the Wedding Day. A Sangeet ceremony involves a celebration with lots of singing, dancing and music, and traditionally takes place prior to the Mehndi ceremony, which is the ritual of applying henna to the bride in preparation for the wedding. During the Mehndi ceremony, the bride and other female guests have henna or mehndi design patterns applied to their hands and feet. Earlier this year, the design and decor team at Grupo Gama (which is based in Cancun/Riviera Maya, Mexico) created an incredibly bright and beautiful display for these festive ceremonies at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in one of their many outdoor open spaces -- perfect for hosting both large and small wedding celebrations. Hi all! I am a newbie here and need some help. I am looking to book a wedding in Cancun in January of 2017. What I want is really simple: 1. a beach ceremony with a white canopy 2. 1 hr cocktail for about 50 people 3. a private reception with a dj and dance floor for about 50 people I have contacted a few resorts and they've bombarded me with information. I was basically asking what I should expect to pay for the above. Most told me to book a package and then add on the extra per person. The extra per person fee is high - around $120 at a few resorts. It seems that its more cost effective to choose the complimentary package and then pay for the reception and cocktail hour. I've seen numbers at $55 per person for reception and $30 pp for cocktail. This includes open bar. I'm also assuming this includes basic setup of tables and chairs. Wouldn't it be cheaper to go this route than to choose a package and pay that crazy per person fee? Or am I reading this wrong? For any brides who have had similar weddings to what I am looking for - what did you end up paying? Thanks!

Hello Ladies! My fiance and I have our wedding planned for April 2016 at the Grand Sunset Princess in the Mayan Riviera. We have the beach wedding organized along with the "Chill Out Party" for a more private post celebration. The package they sent me includes some floral arrangements for me to choose from but I am so unsure of what to expect on the day of the wedding! I want a white bouquet that looks classy. I would love all the advice that I can get! Thank you!!

Hi everyone! This site has been so very helpful with so much of my planning! So thank you! For brides that have traveled to Mexico from the US, has anyone had a problem taking dried eucalyptus? My TA said it could be a problem, but we want to take our decorations to save cost and I really want to utilize eucalyptus in my centerpieces with the sola and silk flowers.

Destination Vow Renewals are a growing trend -- after all, it's an opportunity to do it all over again and perhaps this time around, do it even better than the first! Here are five steps to helping you create the destination vow renewal of your dreams: 1) Pick a location: First and foremost sit down with your sweetheart and pick the site of your dream vow renewal together. For many couples, committing to your second round of I Do's together means you're in a better place financially compared to when you were newlyweds just starting off. So don't hesitate to pick a location that is epic and on your travel bucket list, unless of course you want to return to the site where you first said your I Do's -- whatever route you decide, make sure it's a place that you both agree on! Karisma Resorts & Hotels offer a plethora of beautiful locations throughout Mexico and the Caribbean, some locations even include a free vow renewal ceremony or special rates for vow renewals. You may also want to consider renting one of Karisma's private villa to celebrate your special occasion in absolutely luxury and style. 2) Narrow down your guest list: Unlike your wedding day, vow renewals don't have to include everybody and anybody. This celebration can focus on just the two of you or include just your closest circle of family and friends. It's totally up to you because this time around, you don't have to worry about offending that aunt or cousin you didn't really want to invite but had to in order to avoid family drama. Make your guest list as little or big as you want it to be, and if you want it to be an elopement vow renewal party of two -- so be it! 3) Pick family to be in your bridal party, if you decide to have one: Should you decide to have a bridal party, consider picking your children or perhaps siblings, parents or other close family members or friends to stand by your side. There's nothing more beautiful than seeing a bride walked down the aisle by her children. Much like your celebration, keep your bridal party small and meaningful. 4) Go simple on the details and focus on the experience: Perhaps you were one of those "go bananas on details" brides your first time around. Well this time, you don't have to go "there" if you don't want to. Instead of focusing on all the crazy little details, why not keep your mind and heart focused on the experience you'll share with your spouse and anyone you invite to join you. Make it all about the experience rather than the details, this is your time to truly celebrate love and live in the moment. 5) Make it a vacation to remember: Plan activities, excursions and outings together with emphasis on enjoying the experience. This time around you don't have to go big on a Welcome party, rather plan something special for your group -- maybe a day trip snorkeling or diving. Or perhaps a fun outing like an ATV tour or camel safari. Keep your Destination Vow Renewal focused on making unforgettable memories together! I can't believe I'm less than a year out from the wedding! We booked it in March/April when they released the dates. We are having an embarkation day wedding on the Oasis of the Seas out of Port Canaveral on November 5, 2017. The ceremony will be held in Dazzles Nightclub. I have been lost in this whole process. I can't seem to find much information for what I'm looking for. I've been scouring the sites since we first booked and I feel like I'm being spun in circles! Things I'm trying to find info for (specifically for embarkation day weddings/Port Canaveral/RCCL): I'm trying to figure out a timeline for my wedding day (time to be at the port, embarkation, wedding time, disembarkation for non-sailing) Transportation for wedding guests from Orlando International to the hotel Photography - I don't think/feel like 3 hours is enough time for all the pictures I want done. I have a list of pictures and I'm sure the photographer will be (hopefully) creative and come up with another list. Can we get 'first look' pictures? Getting ready pictures? I know its a no-no to bring your own, but I can't help but think about it. Its a long story but after what had happened with my dad only a month after my sisters wedding pictures are very very important to me! Invitations - I am doing a traditional pocketfold invitation for the wedding. Has anyone done the traditional pocketfold before? If so what information did you include for your inserts? Are you willing to share pictures? I love the idea of the boarding pass/passport invites but I don't feel they are for us. Decorations - How much does the cruise line provide? Has anyone gone all out for their wedding? Is an aisle runner worth it? Beauty - Does anyone have any/Know of any hair stylists/makeup artists in the Port Canaveral area? I'm looking for someone who would come to the hotel the morning of. Welcome Dinner? OOT Bags? Flowers? Getting everything on the ship?

How We Met Andrew and I met online early summer of 2014. Our initial conversation started with our likes for rivalry hockey teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins. From there the conversation kept flowing and we went on our first date in early July. We continued to talk and go on dates over the next couple of months until we made our relationship official in August 2014. From there the rest is history ♥ The Proposal Every year we make a trip to Florida and stay in Indian Rocks Beach. This time we traveled with another couple (Ellen and Tyler) at the end of March 2016. Ellen and I being typical girls we wanted 'cute and coupley' sunset photos with the boys. On Sunday, April 3rd we finished dinner and walked down to the beach just in time to get in some good photos of the sun setting. Andrew and I took a few photos standing on the beach with the sun behind us, and then he said 'Let's try one more (pose)'. Then he got down on one knee in the water and I immediately started blushing and crying because I was so shocked/happy/surprised. After Andrew gave his romantic spiel and asked me to marry him, I said of course. Travel Agent/Picking a Resort We knew that we wanted to have a destination wedding right from the get go because we are beach bums and love the sun/water. Neither of us have ever been to Mexico, however it seemed like the perfect place for our wedding! The next thing on the list was to find a travel agent. I had been told to shop around for an agent for pricing and most importantly the person knows what they are doing/is easy to communicate with. We went to a local mall and popped into Flight Centre, they directed us to a nearby mall where their group travel specialist was located. Instantly we clicked and my finance and I knew we would be going with this agent based on her knowledge, experience and how helpful she was. The next step was choosing a resort, we wanted the resort to be affordable, yet still nice. We weren't very flexible with our potential wedding dates because the best man is a teacher and it is the only time he could take time off work to come to the wedding. After looking at quotes and reading (wedding) reviews we were sold on the GRAND SUNSET PRINCESS. On May 5th 2016 we put our deposits in for travel May 17th - May 24th. Our guests had the deposit deadline of July 13th to guarantee the rates given by the TA. ....More to come

Hello ladies, We picked the NOW Sapphire as our DW and the date is set for May 2nd, 2017. I had some questions for past brides or anyone that could be of help. We are paying for my 2 (soon-to-be) stepchildren (1 of which will be at an adult rate as he's over 12 yrs old). Plus our photographer friend. So paying for 4 adults, 1 child as well as our honeymoon (so already at approx. 15k there)--- so we are trying to save where we can! Where there are 5 children so far coming, (that all love to dance), we decided we should have a "reception" of sorts. We currently are set up for the "Complimentary" (Your Moments) wedding package as we did not need a photographer and all packages would still require us to pay extras. We decided on the gazebo with the Preferred Pool as the "dance" location. We want to have the "dance" so that our photos include our first dance, father/daughter, mother/son, etc. photos... plus the kids would not be allowed at the disco later, AND if we were to opt for the disco instead of a reception, the parents of the other children would have to tend to their kids so I'd be missing 4 wedding party members. I'm terrified of all the extra costs. The cost is adding up and I'm not convinced that a "Package" will even help us out either. We're looking at renting the speakers from the resort (180$ per hour - 3 hours), and cost per additional guest after 10 is 22$ approx. (for the Your moments package) we are currently 30 attendding. Renting the Preferred pool is 1000$ and we are using an off site make up and hair team which wasn't cheap but it was something all of us ladies agreed on. 1-I'm thinking of bringing "fake bouquets" cause they seem pretty costly at the resort. I have 4 bridesmaids, 2 groomsmen and the 2 stepsons. What have some of you done regarding bouquets? 2-In regards to renting the speakers, we have also been in contact with a DJ where the speakers, the DJing would all be included but that would come with a vendor fee on top of their fee so approx 700$ I believe. Do any of you have any tips to share? I hear lots of brides mention a DJ app, how user friendly is this? 3-The lighting or decor... we want it to be very pretty for the photos, do any of you that chose the Preferred pool needed to bring anything additional? Lighting starts at 600$ and bringing your own, you'd still need to pay 100$ per pole to hang them. Any experience advice on that location? 4-During the wedding, do they play music or is that an additional fee? 5-Has the WC given out decor or anything complimentary with this package? i.e. aisle runner or little decorations on cocktail tables, etc or do they nickel & dime you every chance they get? 6-I was thinking of having some sort of video (short one), but not paying an abundant amout, has anyone done this at a reasonable cost? Basically - Have any of you chosen the "your moments" package, and if so, could you share your cost saving ideas? We aren't opposed to paying for some extras but just are looking at cost cutting where we can so that we can permit to spend a bit more on our guest bags and "at home party". I'm extremely excited about our choice and when I see all the photos our WC posts of the weddings, I'm in awe - I guess I picture that each bride must have paid for the packages and had a much larger budget than we do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :-)

Hi everyone! We are getting married at the Grand Sunset Princess in May 2017! We were considering bringing our centrepieces down with us (to save money since centrepieces are so expensive at the resort). We were thinking a simple mason jar with flowers? Not 100% sure yet. I'm wondering if anyone waited until they were at the resort and go into the markets or Walmart to get centrepiece decor? I'm just trying to decide if it would be easier to get it there or just check an extra suitcase and pack everything in there! Thanks!!

Hi ladies, We're getting married in Cabo in April 2017. Has anyone been quoted on outdoor string lights rental/set-up? We're being quoted $120 per 45 foot string light, which seems absurd to me. I just want to make sure this is normal. If you have any other vendors, can you please share their information? Thank you, Perla
