But the agents of Wright Travel Agency -- the official agency of the Best Destination Wedding Forum -- are experts on the most popular destination regions and they are happy to share their insight when it comes to choosing the best destination area for your dream wedding celebration. Here are five reason why getting married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is the right choice for you. 1. You Want to Offer Your Guests Some Fun in the Sun: Between the desert and the sea on top of idyllic weather, there's tons to do in Cabo San Lucas. From world renown deep sea fishing to scuba diving and snorkeling along the warm coast and ATV riding on the sand dunes -- you and your guests will have plenty to do throughout your stay. Cabo is a hotbed for fun in the sun, just take a stroll on the beach and you'll find yourself with a plethora of activities to keep you busy. 2. You Appreciate Great Food: Cabo San Lucas offers a delicious blend of food options in the heart of the city as well as incredible restaurants throughout the Los Cabos corridor into San Jose del Cabo. Mexican food and seafood can be found in delicious abundance in both fine eateries and cheap eats via hole in the walls -- no matter the route, there's a little something to enjoy for everyone. 3. You Enjoy a Mix of the Desert and the Sea: With temps typically ranging in the 70s and 80s, Cabo San Lucas offers a breathtaking desert landscape along the Baja California peninsula. The famous sea arch El Arco de Cabo San Lucas provides the perfect backdrop for dramatic sunsets, and here the light blue water is warm and inviting and the beaches stretch miles long, offering you endless days immersing yourself in the sun, sea and sand. 4. You Love a Good Night Life: El Squid Roe -- it's all you need to know to have a good time when it comes to enjoying the festive nightlife this town has to offer. Bars are open late and music can be heard filling the streets into the night. There's always a dance floor to enjoy when it comes to Cabo. So make sure you bring your dancing shoes and get ready to party the night away. 5. You Want a Short and Easy Commute: If you live on the West Coast or in the Southwest region of the US, you're looking at a short 2 to 3-hour flight and you'll find yourself in this Mexican paradise. Traveling to Cabo is as easy as can be and flight deals are often offered throughout the year, making it a huge draw for couples and their guests. Photo Tips: Timing Your Sunset/Sunrise Ceremony & Portraits
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Planning
If you've been dreaming of a beautiful ceremony followed by incredible romantic photos at sunset, or perhaps you want to plan for sunrise photos -- you can actually determine the best time to plan your festivities by checking out approximate sunrise/sunset times for your wedding location. By visiting: www.timeanddate.com/sun you can enter your location (if they don't list your city, choose the next closest major city) and you'll have the option to view sunrise/sunset times on the exact date you plan to get married. This is a great tool for you as you begin your wedding planning process. Ideally, portraits done during the golden hours -- the two hours after sunrise and the two hours prior to sunset -- will give you the most flattering and soft light which will help yield gorgeous photos. If you can, try and connect with your photographer on the timing as well to discuss the ideal time for your ceremony and portraits. Your photographer can of great help in determining the best time for portraits.-

Hello! Just beginning to plan my destination wedding and don't even know where to start. Here is what I do know... I want to go somewhere warm and beachy but I don't want to get married on the beach. I am looking for an all-inclusive resort but don't want to break the bank. I'm traveling from Massachusetts and also have 2 children under 5 but will have my whole family for help. My mom is a teacher and I do need to work around a regular school schedule so thinking possibly February vacation for April vacation. I'm thinking possibly Mexico or the Dominican. We have a rather small group that will be attending. That's pretty much all I have and I'm open to any suggestions. I feel so confused in this world and want to set things in stone so we can start saving. Help! Becca

* This article was written at 11:30 a.m. PST on Oct. 23, 2015 Hurricane Patricia is expected to hit Mexico's Pacific Coast on Friday, October 21, 2015, prompting the closure of airports in Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, where resorts have also begun to evacuate their guests. The Category 5 storm is expected to be one of the worst storms in Mexico's history and is threatening to batter popular resorts and small fishing villages along the nation's central Pacific coastline, according to the World Meteorological Organization. In Patricia's path are the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan and Guerrero, including the resort towns of Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta, according to the Los Angeles Times. The hurricane will make landfall along the coast of Jalisco state -- which includes the Puerto Vallarta and is also close to Manzanillo and Colima -- between 6 and 7 p.m. EST, according to reports. People in the area have been told to brace for its 200-mph sustained winds and torrential rains. Authorities have already declared a state of emergency in several municipalities and have closed airports in the affected regions. More than 7,000 tourists in the state of Nayarit will have been evacuated to the city of Guadalajara, about 125 miles east of Puerto Vallarta, by the time the storm hits land, according to officials. Destination brides and grooms planning to travel to the affected areas in the coming days, should immediately contact their travel agent, airline provider and/or resort for an update on the storm's impact on their travel plans.

Starting to panic... It wouldn't be too big of a deal to me if I had planned for all wedding events to be indoors, but I didn't. In fact, I decided against having a ton of flowers (1. we can't take them home with us. 2. I won't get to enjoy them very much afterwards...I'm pretty sure that the time we spend in our room will not include enjoying flowers. 3. the scenery is so gorgeous that I didn't want people to oogle at the arrangements rather the natural beauty) and decor because of reason #3 above. BUT, if we have to move everything indoors...WHAT DO I DO??? It won't look like a wedding at all!!!!! Oh my goodness, I'm ready to cry!

We here at BDW love a good beach wedding, and it’s certainly what most people think of when they picture a destination wedding, but there’s something to be said about a gorgeous winter setting. Right now is the perfect time of year for a winter wedding getaway and we thought we’d share our picks for the top 5 winter wedding destinations. If your dream wedding involves more snow than sand, follow along for some ideas on where to go! Plus, enter our Pin-it-to-Win-it Winter Weddings Pinterest giveaway!! 1. Jukkasjarvi, Sweden (Ice Hotel) Feeling adventurous? Why not take your winter wedding vision to the extreme by visiting the Ice Hotel in Sweden? The Ice Hotel opened in 1990 and is the world’s first ice hotel, though many others have popped up since in places like Alaska and Canada. The Ice Church is only available from December 23rd through the end of April and can accommodate 35-45 people. After the wedding, you and your guests can stay in one of the many rooms made entirely of ice. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the Northern Lights. Ice Hotel is said to be one of the best places in the world to see this natural phenomenon! What you need to know: Best time of year to go: between December and April Guest capacity: max 45 people Average cost of wedding: Official website didn’t say—contact the Wedding Coordinator for inquiries. Bonus: Same sex weddings have been legal here since 2009! 2. Lake Tahoe, California or Nevada This location is a common vacation spot for many West Coast snow/ski fans and would be a beautiful spot for a wedding. Though there are a ton of perfectly lovely settings in Tahoe for a winter wonderland wedding, we can’t really think of anything more quaint and picturesque than a sleigh ride wedding. We stumbled across this amazing lakefront wedding venue, where weddings take place on a snow covered spot with lake views. Bride, groom and wedding party are taken to the location via a romantic sleigh ride! What you need to know: Best time of year to go: Weddings can be performed at the sleigh ride lakefront venue in winter only, when there is enough snow for a sleigh. Other venues offer more flexibility but in general if you want those great snowy pictures, the best time to travel is from December to February. Guest capacity: Sleigh ride wedding has a max of 20 people, check with other venues for their restrictions. Average cost of wedding: The sleigh ride wedding package is only $1000, but doesn’t include a reception or anything other than the actual ceremony. 3. Alaskan Cruise Cruise weddings have gained popularity in recent years, and with good reason. Take all the fun of an all-inclusive resort, add water and what is essentially a floating city and throw in stops at a few ports for the ultimate vacation or wedding experience. Alaskan cruises are especially stunning and typically offer views of marine life, waterfalls, glaciers, national parks and more. What you need to know: Best time of year to go: OK so Alaskan cruises aren’t offered during the traditional winter season, but due to the colder climate and glacial setting, we’re still including this as a winter wedding option since it fits the vision. The Alaskan cruise season is from mid-May to mid-September. Guest capacity: Most cruises hold thousands of guests. Since the chances are good your collection of friends and family isn’t quite that large, it’s safe to say the sky is the limit when it comes to a cruise wedding guest list! Average cost of wedding: We saw several wedding package options in the $1195-$3995 range, and for a bit more money Princess Cruise Lines offers a Glacier wedding for $4700. We saw 7-day cruise packages for as low as $595/person, and remember that there are frequently great cruise deals and incentives for even more savings! Bonus: Many Alaskan cruises stop in Sitka, which any rom com movie buffs will remember as the setting for the Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds movie 4. Niagara Falls, NY Image courtesy of accessniagara.com Typically thought of as a honeymoon spot (it’s been known as the honeymoon capital of the world), Niagara Falls is also a fantastic location for a picturesque wedding. Weddings here can take place in a variety of locations—adjacent to the falls themselves, lakeside or riverside. Niagara USA has specific venue ideas for each of these locations, as well as information on vendors to complete your winter wedding day vision. What you need to know: Best time of year to go: Niagara Falls is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year, but for that ideal winter wedding look, consider traveling December through February when snowfall is most likely. Guest capacity: Varies by venue location. Average cost of wedding: Varies by venue location. Fun fact: Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the U.S. (established in 1885) and it was designed by architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed NYC’s Central Park. Fun fact #2: On the TV series 'The Office,' Pam and Jim were married by the captain of the Maid of the Mist IV ferry in Niagara Falls. That's them in the above picture! 5. Park City, Utah Park City, Utah is a favorite destination among Hollywood’s elite, thanks in part to the annual Sundance Film Festival that takes place there and also due to the fact that there is no shortage of luxury hotels. The Montage, St. Regis and Waldorf Astoria are just a handful of the 5-star hotels that have a branch in Park City, and while they all offer wedding packages, one of our favorite options we found is Park City Mountain Resorts. They feature a selection of settings for both ceremony and reception; including a meadow, terrace or lodge. What you need to know: Best time of year to go: The ski/snow season is from November to April, but snowfall is heaviest December through January. Guest capacity: Varies by venue location, contact wedding coordinator for info. Average cost of wedding: Varies by venue location, contact wedding coordinator for info. Tip: The Sundance Film Festival http://www.sundance.org/festival/ takes place in Park City at the end of January each year, so you may want to avoid those weeks and miss the crowds. Bonus: The wedding party and all guests are taken to the top of a mountain via a chairlift, and then get to the reception site by taking the Alpine Slide to the mountain base. How fun does this look?! We know there are a lot of great options for winter weddings, but since we were only highlighting 5 we tried to pick a variety of locations and types of weddings. Leave a comment below if we left off one of your favorites! Need more “pinspiration?” head over to BDW's winter wedding Pinterest board for more pics and ideas! By Sharon Kehoe, 9/11/12 When planning a destination wedding, every woman’s worst nightmare is a wedding day weather blunder. Since the world is full of many climates that aren’t always on the same yearly pattern, it’s vitally important to know the best season for your desired destination so you can plan (and dress) accordingly. Some may seek the lushness of fresh rain - after all, rain on your wedding day is good luck in some cultures - whereas others crave clear blue skies. So how about a little meteorology for your convenience? Here’s a list of 10 popular destination locations with a few helpful factoids to design your dream wedding! CABO SAN LUCAS High season (drier and more expensive): October - May Low season (wetter and less expensive): June - September Hurricane watch: Rare if ever. But watch out for the stormy season running from July to October. Temperatures: Summers are hot in the 90s with the coolest months being January and February in the 70s and 80s. We recommend: April - June. Accommodations may not be as pricey but the weather should still be gorgeous. CANCUN / RIVIERA MAYA High season: December - April Low season: May - November Hurricane watch: Possible in the summer and fall weather. Temperatures: The summers get hot and humid in the low 90s, and since they might also contain hurricanes, we suggest you veer from July and August plans. Spring and Winter average highs in the low to mid 80s. We recommend: May, June, or November for low season, you might get great packages for these months. December - February for high season. COSTA RICA High season: December - April Low season: May - November Hurricane watch: Rare if ever. But the rainy season falls during the low season, though this weather can be scattered and inconsistent. Temperatures: The yearly averages stay consistent between the mid 70s to mid 80s, with May through September boasting the highest temperatures. We recommend: October or November for the best deals. December - February for the best weather. CARIBBEAN (Dominican Republic, USVI, Jamaica, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, etc.) High season: December - April Low season: May - November Hurricane watch: Definitely. Hurricane season poses a threat from June to November, with August through October usually being the worst. Though keep in mind, the Western Caribbean tends to miss many of the storms as the Eastern side gets hit more. Temperatures: Summers are hot and humid, peaking in the low 90s whereas the winter time temperatures run in the mid 70s to mid 80s. NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA High season: April - October Low season: November - March Hurricane watch: Nope. Temperatures: Located in Northern California, summers can get hot but the weather stays breathable, ranging from 70s to low 90s. But watch out for rain during the low season. We recommend: April - July for the most spectacular colors and weather. NEW ENGLAND, USA High season: September - November Low season: December - August Hurricane watch: Nope. Temperatures: Nothing beats the photographic fall foliage of New England, but that also calls for a decent jacket with the temperatures ranging from mid 50s to mid 70s (depending on an Indian Summer). If your dream is a summer wedding in New England, then enjoy beautiful weather ranging from mid 70s to mid 80s. We recommend: September or October for the fall foliage. If you want a winter wonderland, we suggest January - March. HAWAIIAN ISLANDS High season: April - October Low season: November - March Hurricane watch: June to November, but very rare. The last hurricane dates back to 1992. Temperatures: Hawaii weather stays fairly consistent from mid 70s to low 90s year round. The rainy season starts in November and ends in April, so prepare for humidity. Enjoy the dry season between May and October, June through August being the hottest of them all. We recommend: January - April, for beautiful weather and decent prices. ITALY High season: April - October Low season: November - March Hurricane watch: Nope. Temperatures: Best time of the year is from April to June because everything is in bloom and the weather is just right (even if the price is not), ranging from 70s to low 80s. July is usually the warmest month boasting 90 degree weather with November usually being the wettest. We recommend: April, May, or June. Although it may be high season, a smaller ceremony can lessen the load. Read what the BDW community recommends here[/background]! FRANCE High season: April - October Low season: November - March Hurricane watch: Nope. Temperatures: France provides a multitude of temperatures, being colder in the northern mountain regions and warmer in the southern cities along the Mediterranean. Average temperatures during high season range from mid 50s to mid 70s, depending on where you travel. We recommend: May - August. You should get great weather up north by Paris, and even better conditions near the Mediterranean in Nice or Marseille. For a more rustic theme, try early November. AUSTRALIA High season: April - September (Aussie winter) Low season: October - March (summer) Hurricane watch: Called cyclones down under, the season occurs between October and early April with the most common cyclone months being January through March. Temperatures: Being in the southern hemisphere, the Aussie seasons are opposite to what most of the world is used to. The summers are too hot for most (except in the very southern regions) while the high season weather provides gorgeous travel, ranging from mid 60s to high 80s with barely any rain. We recommend: May - August. This is the best time of the year when the country is in bloom, but book well in advance.

It’s finally Fall and that means the return of some of our favorite things: pumpkin spice lattes, leaves changing color, the start of the holiday season, but most importantly Fall colors and themes! For brides who are planning to embrace the Fall season in their wedding planning and décor there are a ton of fun options. But even if you’re not planning to go all out with a wedding that screams Fall, we found some elegant and subtle ways to incorporate the season in your big day. We’ve got it all covered from colors, flowers, décor, favors and even a few surprises you may not have considered. Keep scrolling for our finds! All images courtesy of Pinterest. You can follow BDW on Pinterest by clicking here! Colors We love that these options have both expected (reds, oranges, browns and golds) and unexpected (plums, blues, and greens) palettes. You can go full Fall with the expected end or aim for a more romantic and rustic interpretation with some of the softer colors. Flowers How cute and different is this boutonniere? And the simple "bouquet" is gorgeous too. Here are some more traditional bouquets incorporating the deep hues of Fall Centerpieces Why not try using some Fall produce to stage your flowers? These two options are gorgeous. Or, for a lighter touch, you could use the same idea but paint the pumpkin, squash, or vessel of your choice white and use lighter flowers: More options in those deep hues we love for Fall: Cake We love the trend of unfrosted cakes, and that style works perfectly with a rustic Fall theme if you incorporate flowers and fruits in the appropriate color palette: For another option, this cake gives a small nod to Fall with the adorable mini pumpkins, while the rest of the cake is classic and romantic: Why not incorporate some natural elements, like branches, to pull in the Fall theme? Pie Not a fan of cake? Well then Fall is definitely your season! Use those Fall pie flavors to your advantage and serve apple, pumpkin, and/or pecan pies. Check out these pie spreads for inspiration. Mini pies! Too cute! Favors One of the best parts of Fall has to be all of the rich, spicy flavors. Send your guests home with something yummy in the form of sweet candy apples or a mulling spice kit! Décor This setup with real trees is stunning and would be a big wow factor for guests. Here's one that's a bit simpler but still evokes the Fall theme: These candle holders feature leaf cut-outs and would be a really simple DIY! Put Fall in your décor, literally! We like this play on words over the appropriately themed dessert display of donuts and cider. Stationery: Post Ceremony Toss-Up: Here's one of our favorite Fall ideas that you may not have considered: instead of a birdseed, confetti, bubble or other toss-up, try using the natural surroundings and provide guests leaves to toss. Makes for a great photo op! Click here for some other fun post-ceremony toss-up ideas. Bridesmaids Gift This sweet leaf bracelet is a nice keepsake for any 'maids of a Fall wedding: Beauty: And you can even bring Fall into your wedding day look! A rustic headband with flowers and leaves would be an easy DIY or a fun Etsy find. We’d love to know: are you planning a Fall wedding or incorporating any fall colors or items into your wedding? Share your pics here!

The Best Time for Your Beach Wedding Ceremony I have been doing Weddings and Events for over seven years here in Cancun and the Riviera Maya and most Weddings are outside, whether it's a beach location, a cenote, or a luxury garden. So, having that in mind, finding the best time for your outside wedding is crucial! Getting married on the beach may be a romantic way to start your new life. But the time for your ceremony in this location might represent some unique challenges. Here we’ll try to help you plan for your big day and start to think of some things you may not have considered yet: Most couples get married a few hours before sunset. I recommend scheduling your beach ceremony within an hour or so before sunset. Why? Here’s some things you might consider: Beautiful Photo Shoot: Most ceremonies last about 20 minutes. We suggest you have your beach wedding scheduled 1 and a half hours before the sun disappears so you’ll have at least 1 hour left for your photo shoot before it gets dark. Otherwise non welcome guests may show up…(mosquito time): When it’s getting too dark, mosquitos can become a problem and you will end up with multiple bites. Some options to get rid of this unwelcome guest can be citronella candles or providing repellent to your guests. Stay away from ponds, lakes and mangroves because they are very tiny little bugs called CHAQUISTES that actually bite you! So, it's as easy as that, keep in mind your photo session and how to get rid of the uninvited bugs during your ceremony and you will enjoy your moment just as you imagined! P.S. Worried about rain? That is a whole different subject... Rainy season and dry season, plus the crazy rains that shows up without notice, so make sure you always have a plan B ready to go! Throw me a question or a request, I will be more than happy to help you! Regards Saku Our Sponsor Page on BDW

Ombre is a very popular trend this year and we've seen it pop up in food, fashion, and everything in between. The best part about ombre is that you can use it on any color palette-- just vary the shades to achieve the overall look! Blues and greens are especially striking near the crystal clear water at destination beach weddings, but you really can't go wrong with any color theme! We've seen so many fun and creative ideas for how to incorporate the trend into weddings, so without further ado here are some of our favorite pics. As a new season begins, trends of wedding fashion have changed also. Definitely, you should be curious about what marvelous pieces and bridal looks that designers showed us by their Fall collections. In this article, I would like to share with you some of the most popular ideas concerning wedding dresses for this fall. Straps A-line Wedding Dresses Straps will always be in trend whenever it comes to wedding dresses! No matter if these are thick, you are able to find how they match perfectly with a wedding gown that is made in no matter what style you want. Of course, in this season, there is a tendency of making these thicker than usual and being used especially at the level of wedding dresses with a vintage tone. Also, it turns out that A-Line wedding dresses are one of the most sought-after style, which is now embellished with a one of a kind design, featuring some elegant horizontal stripes. You will still be able to wear such a glamorous gown no matter what figure you belong to. Bows and Butterfly Details on Wedding Gowns Speaking about bridal accessories, features or prints, bridal gowns this fall seem to have a little something special. There are more details added to accentuate modern and romantic bridal looks. Bows have always been used in wedding dresses. However, in this fall collection, they tend to get more and more popular. Not only are they great looking if attached to a simple bridal gown, but also, they change the aspect of a wedding gown entirely if placed in the right side and made in the right way. In addition, we can find butterfly details also from these pieces. Designers perfectly combine this feature with a comfortable, yet very sophisticated and elegant skirt, thus emphasizing women need for comfort and elegance. Colored Bridal Dresses In terms of the color, just as my last post "Forget White - Choose Wedding Dress in Your Favorite Color. We observed colored gowns this season. Except for red and pink, faded tones came to be popular. Grey is one of the new white. Actually, designers have promoted this idea for a long time now, but it seems that this season, grey will definitely prevail and it will be an invasion of grey wedding gowns. Therefore, follow the tendencies and choose a colored gown instead of a white one. What do you think of the wedding fashion this fall? What trends do you like?
