Hi there, I am an Aussie bride getting married next yr at moon palace. I originally wanted to get married on the beach but have since read the review that the beach is not nice at all. Can anyone confirm? So now I am completely freaking out as I have not visited the resort before. Has any one stayed there/married that could recommend the best locations for ceremony and reception? Or have any pictures. Will arrive late April and was hoping for a late afternoon wedding. Has anybody got any idea whether that's suitable or not. I also am unsure what to do about photography. Has everyone just used the resorts photographer? Help please!!!!!!

Indian brides who married in Cancun Moon Palace Did you bring your own garlands for the wedding? Did you find some in Cancun? As well as all other necessities for prayers and the ceremony- where did you find everything from Cancun? Where did you find your preist? I want to have my Sangeet outdoors but they only allow outdoors until 10pm. So did you end your party then or move it Indoors because I have a lot of Indian families are used to staying up til 2am partying.

It is now 6 months until our wedding so I think it’s about time I started my planning thread. Like many of the beautiful and helpful brides I’ve come to know from this site, I thought that starting a planning thread would not only get me organized but also give me valuable insight and advice from you all. How we met: In 2010 after ending a very long-term relationship with my ex-boyfriend, my friend kept encouraging me to sign up for online dating. I won’t lie to you and I was very skeptical about online dating and thought that there was no way I would even try it. After months of hearing her stories about how much fun she was having meeting new people and dating men she would never have met otherwise, I thought, what’s the harm in trying. So in December 2010, I created my online profile. I will admit that dating again was fun. I had no intention of getting into another relationship; I just wanted to meet new people. Well you know how they say that things happen when you’re not looking for it? Well in less than two weeks, I received a message from Derrick that just said, “Hi. How are you?” I thought that was a pretty lame message but I looked at his profile. I thought he was really cute so I messaged him back. We were messaging back and forth and soon enough, we agreed to meet for a date. We met at Starbucks. I figured it’s a safe place to meet in case he turned out to be a creep! LOL As soon as I saw him, I remember the sigh of relief, he looked like his profile pic, but was actually cuter in person. Despite the usual first date jitters, we had a great conversation and it felt natural. After Starbucks we went to watch a movie. I don’t know why we went to the movies considering we talked the whole time. By the end of the night, I knew that it was the best date I’ve ever had. After that date we basically saw each other every day and he would text me daily to see how my day was going. I knew that we had something special and what proved it was when he went to Vegas for his best friend’s bachelor party. It was 3 am and my phone rang, it was Derrick. I got worried since it was early in the morning. I picked up the phone and he was clearly drunk. Before I could get annoyed, he told me that he loved me and that he missed me. There he was in Vegas with his friends having fun, and he still thought of me. Right then and there, I knew he was a keeper. The proposal: As a bit of a background, Derrick had asked me before if I wouldn’t mind if he used a diamond his grandmother had gifted him to give to his future wife. I knew how close he was to his grandmother (she had passed away before I got the chance to meet her). So during a trip to Puerto Vallarta with his family in March 2014, his sister and I were walking the Malecon and they thought it would be fun to go to a jewellery store to try on engagement ring settings for me. I typically don’t wear rings so I didn’t know what setting would look nice on me, especially since my hands are small. I instantly fell in love with a halo setting. So when we got back to the resort, Derrick’s sister instantly tells him what we did, just to tease him and he got up and said, ok let’s buy it. LOL So to my surprise, we bought the ring. But before buying it, Derrick told me that even though I knew what my engagement ring looked like (minus the diamond), he would still keep the proposal a surprise since I wouldn’t know when he would do it. As you can imagine, he had fun with that. Being the jokester he is, we would go out, tie his shoes and look up at me to make it look like he was going to propose. It happened on June 30, 2014 during our annual fishing trip to Ucluelet, BC. The weekend started off normal with Derrick joking around about proposing. Jokes included writing down "ring" on our list of things to bring to the island and Derrick singing "put a ring on it". On the last day of our trip, Derrick suggested going for a walk to the beach after dinner and go beach combing. Derrick and I love to go beach combing anytime we're on Vancouver Island. I told Derrick that his mom and I saw a beach that morning when we walked the dogs along the lighthouse trail so we headed in that direction. As we walked to the trail, Derrick kept asking me to walk on his left side, closer to the road. I made fun of him, joking that my friend's husband always walked on the side closest to traffic to protect her, meanwhile Derrick wanted to use me as his shield. Apparently he had the ring box in his right pocket and didn't want me to see it. I should have clued in on this but still didn’t even think anything of it. As we got to the beginning of the trail and looked at the map, I pointed to where we saw the beach. Derrick said he didn't want to go to that beach since it would be crowded. He suggested we keep walking to find a nice new beach that wasn't full of tourists. As we walked along the trail, Derrick pointed down the cliff and said, "Let’s go over to that beach, no one's there". He suggested going down the cliff using these old ropes tied to trees. I told him he was crazy and there was no way I'd go down old ropes, only to die falling off the cliff! So we kept walking and he eventually found a better way to go to the beach. To get closer to the water we had to walk and balance on what seemed like miles of rocks. In my usual "positive" vibe, I grumbled and complained the whole way. I think Derrick's favourite line was, "we're beach combing here? You know what we'd find under these rocks, more (insert expletive) rocks!" He would just turn to me, smile and say, "This is what I love about you, your positivity" When we finally got to the water, I had to admit that the walk was worth it, the view was breathtaking. On top of that, we were the only ones there! We climbed over rocks as Derrick showed me starfish, sea anemones (or what I call sea enemies" and more rocks (lol). After looking around, we sat on a huge rock and just looked out towards the ocean and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I heard Derrick say, "Jer", and as I turned to face him, I saw him on one bended knee, holding a ring box and said, "Will you marry me?" I said "of course" and hugged and kissed him.

2 Months Out - Let The Frustrations Out!
kjeanconte posted a blog entry in Moon Palace Memorial Day Wedding
Hi everyone: So I've been planning in a vacuum and with my wedding a little more than two months away and the small things needing attention, I'm starting to feel the little bit of panic building. 80 GUESTS and counting! I had a destination wedding to reduce my numbers. Didn't work too well huh? I'm having the wedding at Moon Palace Cancun and so far I don't have any major complaints. My offsite coordinator Lizet has been an absolute doll! :DI had heard that people wouldn't hear from their coordinator until much later but Lizet was in contact with me with less than a month after we had the date confirmed. I know I can be an absolute pain with all the emails but she has dutifully answered them in a relatively quick manner (1-3 days average). We have the ceremony at the Bugambilias gazebo, with the Tuscan terrace for the cocktails and we move inside for the reception. I have the majority of my vendors lined up: Décor: Gama Flowers: Hotel Cake: Hotel Photography: Friend of future hubby is coming down as a guest to do our lovely pics Videography: AmorAmor Weddings (outside vendor - their work looks absolutely amazing! Music: PSAV (though I also have DiscoMovil on contract because of the great reviews that I have read. But when I told PSAV the price I was getting including the vendor fee was cheaper than what they had, they not only matched it but gave me a $200 discount for an incentive. The only reason I still have DiscoMovil is because I am concerned about the music. I work in the music industry hence why I'm being so picky). In the air Makeup: I am an Black bride so I am very concerned about what my hair and makeup will look like. Especially since I am a natural hair bride. I'm on the fence about working with MVP hair and beauty. ANY HELP IN WITH THIS? What I'm not particular happy about: Travel agent: L and S Vacations. Just venting here. We met Lindsay at a wedding expo here in NYC. And in the beginning it worked well with choosing our hotel and putting down our deposits. She also fits the bill on our save the dates and send them out. But here's where the trouble started. We decided to do magnets for our save the date. At least 20% of our guests never received them. Could it have been that the magnets got stuck somewhere? Shouldn't there have additional paper inside of the envelope to make that it didn't happen? I don't know because no return address were ever put on the envelopes. So if it was a matter of a wrong address, we didn't know. Which meant that I had purchase additional save the dates and send them out. All of mine made it to the intended person. *shrugs* When the time came for the guests to begin to make the travel arrangements, it felt like I didn't have a travel agent. Because however many times you called, the phone was never picked up. NEVER. I had multitudes of guests complaining that they couldn't get through to make their room reservations. And of course it was the last few days to book and it was a panic. I was having mini heart attacks for days, trying to make sure the MVPs were getting what they needed, diverting them to emails to contact Lindsay. And to make matters worse, she was out of the country and took on more work than she could have handled (5-6 other weddings that had the SAME deadline that we had). The month of October was exhausting - from people complaining about prices, to rooms to never-ending questions that should have been answered by L and S Vacations. Then it became an issue about changing names on the rooms. Even though each invoice/contract stated that we had 91 prior to the wedding make changes, she shot them down saying it wasn't possible to change; that if they needed a room they would have to book an entirely new room without the savings we had before. I'm a lawyer so I went to town on it and got her to read her own contract. Finally she apologized and made the changes. If I knew what I know now, I would have just worked with the hotel myself. They have been very attentive and I really don't need L and S Vacations for anything else. The only upside was the payment plan that guest could do but...sigh. I wonder if it was worth a lot of aggravations. Sigh. Anyway I'm sure I'll be back to lament about my peacock theme, my 14 member wedding party and the drama to come. Stay strong ladies,- 1 comment

Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun is known for its wide variety of restaurants and eateries, but another excellent perk for guests is the resort's 24-hour room service and fully furnished in-room minibar and liquor dispenser. If you're like me -- not a morning person -- room service is the perfect perk when you want to sleep late, roll out of bed and enjoy breakfast or lunch in your pajamas. My husband also happens to be a late-night snacker, so the ability to order from Moon Palace's expansive 24-hour menu was so convenient during our stay (the grilled steak, shrimp cocktail and chicken lettuce wraps were his personal favorites!). Their 24-room service menu is simply a great option for those who want to drink and dine in the comforts of your own room. And because it's an all-inclusive resort, no fees or costs are involved to order room service. Best of all the service is quick, timely and your food is always served fresh! Another special touch that Moon Palace resort goers will enjoy is the in-room liquor dispenser and minibar. The liquor options include full-sized bottles of tequila, rum, whiskey and vodka. And inside the refrigerator, you'll also find a combination of juices, sodas and water -- so whatever your preference, there's an option for you. The dispensers and beverages are replenished daily, so you are always "fully-stocked!" Rest assure, when it comes to staying at Moon Palace, dining and drinks are readily available 24/7 and you don't even have to step out of your bedroom door to enjoy! "Daddy...outside." As my 20 month old baby girl, Brooklyn, patted her eager little hand on our hotel room door, these are the words she excitedly uttered. Mommy had departed early for morning meetings and it was just my peanut companion and I, left to our own devices to explore and enjoy the Sunrise section of Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort. My bubbly, curly haired partner and I put on our swimsuits and headed out into the warm Cancun sun. As we headed poolside, my miniature sidekick quickly let me know where she wanted to stop first. "I hungy, daddy", reassured me that making the Palapa Barracuda our first stop for lunch was not a mistake. After feasting on fresh melt in your mouth grilled fish, crispy chicken fingers, perfectly marinated arrachera and various other scrumptious fare, we decided to head to the Piscina de Ninos (the kid's pool), but not before we were distracted by the screams of excitement coming from boogie boarders and body surfers at the La Terraza Flowrider. The great thing about Moon Palace is that it keeps kids of all ages entertained. The Flowrider in particular is a fun wave pool that the older kids love because it's both challenging and fun. After finally making our way to the Kids Pool, lil Brooklyn approached the colorful crocodile and frog water slides with a look of wonder on her tiny face. Her saucer sized eyes scanned the pool from the castle complete with functioning water cannons to the water bucket suspended above a slide being filled with water and dumped every so often onto ecstatic children eagerly anticipating the shower below. She was anxious and apprehensive, but the energetic sounds of kids frolicking about in the knee high deep water was all she needed to make the courageous entrance into the kiddie pool. The fact that Moon Palace provides kids with their own pool section is great for parents who want to ensure their kids are in a safe environment when it comes to enjoying the water. Plus the kids pool is large and spacious enough to give the little ones enough room to play without feeling too far away from mom and dad. An hour later, Brooklyn was rotating between sipping her first ever virgin strawberry daiquiri, splashing the cool, crystal clear pool water over her head and venturing down the crocodile and frog water slides. My once timid little girl was in love with the kiddie pool and her frozen drink treat was just the icing on the cake. Brooklyn was equally impressed with the Playroom and children's fun zone which is designed for providing kids with the ultimate fun experience. From an incredible playground structure equipped with winding slides, tubes and the genuine look and feel of a real 4 story pirate ship to a massive indoor play area with video games, carousels, fashion room, beauty salon and dollhouse area. Getting Brooklyn to leave was almost like pulling teeth as her attention was completely taken by the laundry list of activities offered including Jenga and Xbox tournaments, balloon sculpting, cooking, pinata making and mask making classes. The plethora of exciting activities will surely keep any kid enthralled for hours on end. Luckily, my ace in the hole to lure my lil kiddo away from the endless fun was the poolside personal pizza oven and the mouth watering selection of ice cream delights at the 24 hour ice cream bar. It was the perfect way to end a fun filled day of activities, swimming, eating and drinking for my sidekick and I. The only thing left to do was to return to our spacious and AC chilled hotel room and rest our weary bodies with a nice afternoon nap. My tiny bambino gladly closed her eyes, with her tummy full of ice cream, and a wide smile on her face. "I love this place" is what I believe went through the mind of our 20-month-old when we walked the beautiful expansive grounds of the Moon Palace Resort. Spending the day with my little one on the Moon Palace grounds, while Mommy was busy with work, gave me the chance to make awesome memories with my daughter that I'll remember for a lifetime. Moon Palace is the perfect place for families looking for a relaxing getaway with top notch accommodations and amenities to keep both adults and children happy and busy.

When in Mexico, it's natural to have high expectations for Mexican food and drinks, and Los Caporales restaurant at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun does not disappoint. As one of the many eateries on the all-inclusive resort's grounds, diners at Los Caporales can indulge in delicious fajitas and tacos as well as several other well-known Mexican specialties off their a la carte menu. But perhaps one of the most popular items on the menu is their special Mayan coffee -- the perfect after-meal treat for your body and an incredible presentation for your senses. This speciality coffee is prepared with tequila, coffee, sugar, orange and topped with whipped cream. But before you indulge in its rich flavors, you'll be mesmerized by the preparation and presentation of this delightful post-dinner treat. It's definitely worth a try if you plan to stay at Moon Palace and a quite a bonus at the end of a great meal! Los Caporales is located in the Central lobby of the Nizuc region of the resort. The restaurant is open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for dinner daily. - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and I was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009. Hi Everyone! So I've decided to start a planning thread to help keep myself on track and also because I've read some other ladies' blogs (@@Wafflesmom and @) and they've been extremely helpful in sharing their wedding planning process and have encouraged me to do the same for others as well. So just a little bit about myself-- my name is Jess, recently moved to Vancouver from Toronto; my fiancé and I have been dating for almost 6 years now and were engaged in Toronto in November 2014, and got to celebrate with our families before we moved to Vancouver. I studied in graphic design so I want to be the DIY/craft type bride and try to customize and design as many things as I can myself. The Engagement: My Fi, John, proposed on November 14, 2014 where we had our very first date in Toronto down at Dundas Square. We sat in the exact same spot as we did 5 years ago. Although we both knew the proposal was eventually coming, I was completely caught off guard and surprised. That night, they were rehearsing for the Festival of Lights so Dundas Sq. was filled with dancers, lights, music...it was a really nice environment to be in. Funny enough-- our friend who is a photographer was shooting for the rehearsal and saw us just after the engagement happened for an un-planned engagement photo opp! Destination: After starting to discuss how we both envisioned our wedding to take place, we both decided that it would be best suited as a destination wedding since we had family from all across the country (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and NYC). It made the most sense for us to all fly out to one destination vs. having it in Vancouver or Toronto. We also found that from our experience at most weddings, people are quite reserved and so we wanted our wedding to be a place where people could really enjoy themselves, party, and not be worried about having to work or have any other commitments the next day. And so we decided destination wedding it is! In the first start of our process, I immediately started researching for wedding planners and so we hired Lexi from the Wedding Butlers in Vancouver. In our experience thus far, she's been super responsive (she always gets back to me within the next day, if not the very same day), very informative, and extremely honest which is something I really appreciate. Initially we wanted a more intimate setting where we could really have the wedding we envisioned (rustic, beach with some greenery-- not just a resort with sand and water). So we were deciding between Azul Beach Hotel and Now Sapphire. After further contemplation, John's #1 priority were our guests and making sure that they would have an amazing time not only at our wedding but during the entire week. Which is when we landed on Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort. Our quotes expire this Wednesday, but my only reservations so far are that I haven't had any luck finding pictures or having the wedding coordinators on site at MP to send me photos of their wedding locations and venues at the resort. So hopefully, if any of you ladies have information on that, please share! Thanks in advanced!!

When you first step foot on the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort grounds, you're immediately taken aback by the size of this beautiful Cancun seaside oasis. Boasting close to 2,500 luxurious rooms, this all-inclusive resort offers plenty of location options for brides and grooms to share their nuptials. Be it in one of their oceanside terraces, in one of their glass chapels or gazebos, or perhaps in one of their many ballrooms -- couples have a lot of great venues to choose from. But as a former bride who initially had a tough time finding a Catholic venue option in the Cancun-Riviera Maya -- besides a traditional church -- where a Catholic wedding ceremony could be held, I was quite impressed with Moon Palace's Capilla Catolica. This air-conditioned glass Catholic Chapel is set in a lovely space in Moon Palace's Nizuc section and is just footsteps away from the turquoise blue waters, giving you a beautiful ocean view from the chapel. Aside from the glass walls, this indoor gazebo is also surrounded by beautiful landscaping and a pond. And while the pews, which seat up to 80 people, cannot be removed from the gazebo, the Catholic symbols can be taken down should a couple want to hold a non-denominational ceremony at the chapel. Sunday mass is also regularly held at Capilla Catolica for resort guests who wish to attend. When I was planning my wedding about 8 years ago, I came across limited options for a Catholic wedding. While I wanted to have a Catholic ceremony, I was disappointed to find out that weddings at the time could only be held inside the church. I was after all, a bride who always dreamed of getting married on the beach or at least overlooking the beach. With Moon Palace's glass chapel, couples can still have that beautiful Catholic service with an exquisite ocean view. And no matter how warm a day it may be, the chapel is air-conditioned so you and your guests will certainly be comfortable. Moon Palace also has other air-conditioned glass gazebo options on the resort grounds where wedding ceremonies can be held. With Indian destination weddings celebrations typically occurring over the course of several days, food is a key detail couples must consider when planning their festivities. Although many resorts do not prepare Indian food on site, and will instead offer cuisine from an off-site caterer, Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun proves to be the exception. As part of its expansive vendor and decor options for Indian weddings, Moon Palace is also equipped with chefs who are fully trained to prepare Indian food, including all the authentic spices and ingredients needed to provide a variety of dishes throughout all the wedding festivities. So couples can rest assure that their guests will enjoy a delicious buffet of freshly prepared Indian food made on site. I recently spent several days at Moon Palace for a Southeast Asian Wedding Conference and experienced some of the fine Indian cuisine the resort had to offer. Each of the four buffet spreads I had the pleasure of indulging in included freshly prepared appetizers, sides and a plethora of main dishes -- all of which were bursting with delicious flavors and spices. “Palace Resorts takes pride in our ability to make dreams a reality. Indian weddings are visually unlike anything the destination has seen before, and we believe our valued guests will be awed by our latest offering,” said Gibran Chapur, executive vice president of Palace Resorts told Travelpulse.com. “Expanding our offerings and capabilities is a testament to our ability to make sure every detail of your wedding exceeds every bride’s desires and individual needs.” For more information on booking your Indian destination wedding at Moon Palace Golf & Resort Spa, click here. - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and I was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009.
