Hi Brides, I spent a lot of time lurking on this site as I was planning my destination wedding, so I thought I'd post some thoughts about how it all turned out. We got married at El Dorado Maroma on Dec. 30. EDM is a smaller resort, but don't let that deter you - it was absolutely awesome! The resort is beautiful, the beach is one of the best in the world and the service is outstanding. We loved that it was a smaller resort - we had about 35 guests stay there and we could always find people in our group without any trouble. The restaurants were great - 5 restaurants in total and a good variety of food. The only "downside" with this resort would be that the nightlife is pretty quiet, but we were an older crowd and it didn't bother us at all. One of the nights was the wedding and another night was New Year's Eve, so we had plenty of stuff to do. Weddings by Lomas is the company that provides the wedding services - we had Shelley as our coordinator and she was great! We picked the resort in February for the December wedding and over that whole time she was very responsive - I never had to wait more than a day for a response and most often it was quicker than that. She provided me a lot of information to help me plan - at one point she sent me pictures of every flower that the florist had in my color scheme so I could pick what I wanted in my bouquet. So while there is a huge number of pre-arranged flower arrangements for bouquets, they basically made me a custom one and it wasn't very expensive. We also had a few last minute guests and she accommodated this with no issue. When we arrived at the resort, we had the pre-wedding meeting and met the on-site coordinators (Paty and Nelly) and Shelley. They went through all of the details of the wedding - down to every decision that I had made along the way to make sure everything was in place. They even helped me pick out some music for the ceremony that I hadn't gotten around to and downloaded a few songs right at the meeting to help us choose what we wanted. After that meeting, I had no concerns about the plans for the wedding. On the wedding day, Paty and Nelly brought me my flowers mid-day to make sure that I liked what the florist had put together and they were beautiful. They also brought me the hour by hour weather report for the rest of the day and I had to decide whether to keep everything on the beach or move some or all of the events inside. All week before the wedding, the weather reports for the wedding day showed 80% rain, but the forecast improved and when Paty and Nelly arrived the worst of the forecast was 55% chance of rain right when the ceremony was scheduled. It was a touch & go decision, but I looked at another weather app, and looked at the radar and decided to take my chances with the weather. We had selected Bridal Moments to be the photographer and our assigned photographer was at the pre-meeting and discussed timing and any specific shots that I wanted to have. They brought 2 photographers and they split up to get both the groom and I while we were getting ready. A few minutes before the ceremony was to begin, Nelly arrived at my room to take me to the beach. The weather was perfect - sunny and a little windy but that just helped people not be too hot. The ceremony was quick - and I don't remember much of it, I was so focused on my husband! But the guests said it was really beautiful. After the ceremony we had a 1 hour cocktail party before the reception started - also on the beach, right next to the ceremony. The groom and I did most of our pictures during this time, but we were close enough to the guests to get a lot of shots with them as well. The photographers seemed thorough - I haven't seen their proofs yet though. The reception (also on the beach) was excellent. The food was great - we got lots of compliments on everything. We had chosen the filet and the shrimp as entrees, and a mousse/crème brulee dessert, which people raved about. We just got a small cake to do the cake cutting with - we thought people would like the dessert from the menu better than the cake. The cakes were good, but the fondant icing was a little too sweet. We used DJ Max as the DJ and he was outstanding. I had given him lots of song suggestions and he picked all of the best ones and the night went without a hitch. Our guests were up dancing for the entire night - which is exactly what I wanted. DJ Max also changed songs for me if I didn't like something he had chosen. The service at the reception was top notch! The waiters and bartenders took note of what the groom and I were drinking and we never had an empty glass all night long. Many of the guests also tipped the waiters because they were so great. Another thing that we really appreciated was the location of the ceremony and reception - the resort had us away from the main beach seating area, so there weren't really any other people around. Sure, there were some people walking along the beach during the cocktail hour and reception, but overall it was very private, which was different from other destination weddings I had been to, where the ceremony was surrounded by people at the beach, in their bathing suits, watching the whole event. When we finally got back to the room, the resort had decorated it with rose petals and had brought back my bouquet and cake and a few other things from the reception, which was a nice touch. As part of the wedding package, we had breakfast room service the next day, which was also outstanding. There was an amazing amount of food - we couldn't eat it all, but everything tasted great. Overall, we both feel like El Dorado Maroma and Weddings by Lomas exceeded our expectations for our wedding. We were pleased with everything and wouldn't have changed anything about our wonderful day. Sorry for the long post, but let me know if you have any questions.

Some may find it silly that I would write a post solely dedicated to a sweet treat. But when it comes to the Churros Cart at Le Blanc Spa Resort in Los Cabos, it's totally merits the attention. Trust me. 😉 Every afternoon between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., the fresh Churros Cart strolls into the main pool area at Le Blanc in Los Cabos. And after you taste one of these freshly fried treats, you'll understand why guests at the hotel follow the cart's trail the minute it makes its afternoon appearance. These delectable treats are fried fresh right before your eyes, then rolled in a bed of sugar and cinnamon and can be filled with caramel if you please. It's addicting, so addicting! But again, the cart is only stationed by the main pool area for about an hour each afternoon -- so if you've got your heart set on trying one of these churros, then keep your eyes open. It's definitely worth the wait! The churros are just another perk of Le Blanc's delicious all-inclusive dining offerings. The luxury adults-only resort boasts world-class dining experiences, including 9 restaurants/eateries or snack stations along with 24-hour room service. I am bringing a friend that I work with to shoot our wedding video for us. He shoots wedding videos on the side so he has professional equipment. We're not paying him a fee per say, but we are covering his travel/accommodations. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there any sort of paperwork he needs to fill out to shoot our wedding? I read somewhere here where someone's photographer got stopped at customs because he/she wasn't licensed to work in Mexico. Would that apply in this situation?

Hi there, I am an Aussie bride getting married next yr at moon palace. I originally wanted to get married on the beach but have since read the review that the beach is not nice at all. Can anyone confirm? So now I am completely freaking out as I have not visited the resort before. Has any one stayed there/married that could recommend the best locations for ceremony and reception? Or have any pictures. Will arrive late April and was hoping for a late afternoon wedding. Has anybody got any idea whether that's suitable or not. I also am unsure what to do about photography. Has everyone just used the resorts photographer? Help please!!!!!!

looking for some honest feedback regarding OOT bags... as I look through past posts I suddenly got a sense of FOMO (or fear our guests will have FOMO). here's what we're including in each person's OOT bag: color-changing tumbler travel first-aid kit aloe sunscreen hand sanitizer SPF chapstick kleenex gum advil pepto wedding brochure/book/info (not pictured) all in a standard paper gift bag with all that, we've spent about $450 for the 60 bags/adults we have attending. the 5 kids will get some sand or pool toys instead. I had planned on fun beach totes/bags, but after talking with FH and MOH - sounds like most wouldn't use it. Sunglasses don't really make sense to me, since I think (*hope*) most people pack their shades for Mexico I don't know - maybe I'm overthinking it, but is this enough of a gift bag for our guests traveling all the way to Mexico? I'll also add, we are bringing some adult pool toys like beer pong and floats for everyone to enjoy. thanks friends!

Me and my fiancee are currently looking at resort for a destination wedding in Early 2019. We are looking at both Dominican Rep and Mexico as possible destinations but are open to other countries not named Cuba (nothing wrong with Cuba, just been there way to many times). We are looking for a nice resort to do a beach wedding, that is cost effective to both us and our guest. Can any one suggest any resorts that I could be looking at...any also if there is a specific time in Feb/Mar/Apr that we can do it that would give us the best price? Thank you for all your help!!! Hi Everyone! My finance and i are visiting Mexico in 2 weeks to check out Dreams Riviera and Now Sapphire in Puerto Morelos but quickly realized both beaches are pretty bum (so I've heard). Is anyone getting married there or been married there? Are the beaches that bad? We're also looking into Xcaret but not sure about the prices. Would love any feedback about any of the resorts! Thanks so much! (We're planning to marry in May 2019).

hi friends! so we recently changed our minds and switched from a legal to a symbolic ceremony for our May wedding in Riviera Maya. Why? cost is the biggest factor - the whole legal package is about $1000 and the license in MN is $40. anyways, when it was a legal ceremony - there was no question about the script/speech - it's a pre-set speech. but now with the symbolic ceremony - we have more flexibility... so questions for you gals.... can you share your symbolic ceremony script/speech? who performed your ceremony? was it in English or Spanish? yes, we are going to be terrible people and not tell our guests we're taking care of the paperwork a week before we leave for Mexico. We'd like the ceremony in Spanish or as close to the legal ceremony as possible. We are not planning our write our own vows - FH says he'd never get through them without crying so we agreed to skip them at the ceremony. thanks!

Hi There! Just joined this forum, I'm looking for info on how soon we should be booking our preferred wedding date and do we do it directly with the resort? We were hoping for April 2019 as we just decided on a destination wedding, originally were looking at Cabo as we travel there quite often but friends suggested we look at Royalton Riveira Maya and it looks like a fantastic venue for our wedding!! Any help/ suggestions would be appreciated! Also when you block your rooms do you do that through your TA or do I contact the resort directly? Feeling so out to lunch with all this and it's only the beginning!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and would be grateful for any advice. We're finally getting married at Akiin Beach Club in Tulum on 14 May 2018 after 17 years together! We have over 35 family and friends joining us from the UK and we will all be staying at the Gran Bahia Principe in Akumal. Hair and Make Up My hair is above shoulder length and thick so will probably not be doing too much with it (too short for an up do), however, I have 6 bridesmaids who will probably want their hair done. The resort has a spa onsite for hair and make up and I have heard good reviews about their hair styling. However, I would like airbrush make up done because I'm hoping it will give a more flawless finish and will last longer in the heat. Does anyone know if the salon at Gran Bahia Principe Akumal does air brush make up? Or does anyone have any experience of using the salon for their wedding day? The resort changes a vendor fee of $300USD for outside vendors which would make it really expensive to bring anyone in. The only other alternative would be to rent a room closer to Akiin Beach for the night for my bridal party and have someone come to do our hair and make up - any recommendations on hotels or vendors is appreciated. Transport We would like to put on mini buses for our guests from the hotel to Akiin Beach and back. I guess we would need approx. 3 or 4 depending on how many people can fit in each vehicle. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice re transfer companies? Planning Should I be worried that I haven't heard back from the venue in over a week since I've emailed them? Legal stuff Our wedding coordinator at the venue said that we could have our blood tests carried out in the UK and sent to them in advance of the wedding but everything I've read online contradicts this. Can anyone advise? Also, does anyone know the cost of registrar and legal fees? Stag/ Bachelor party My fiancé would like to hire a fishing boat for all the guys and do a half day fishing trip from Akumal bay. We have seen Captain Rick's and are considering booking one of their boats but if anyone has any other advice or recommendations that would be great. Hen/ Bachelorette party To save on costs I was just going to have my bachelorette in the resort - dinner, few drinks and head out to the nightclub. I would like to treat my bridesmaids, mum and mother in-law to spa treatments if I can afford it. The spa at the hotel is quite pricey ($85USD for a manipedi!) - can anyone recommend anywhere cheaper nearby or suggest any alternative activities? If anyone else has been married at Akiin Beach I would love to hear from you! Grateful for any advice or experiences. Thanks Charmaine

Hey everyone! We just got engaged!! We immediately thought of Cancun and saw so many pictures of stunning Indian weddings. Google searches showed so many Indian / South Asian wedding packages (Dreams has two different ones - Dulha and Dulhan Package and Shaadi Package for example). It looks like a lot is included, but the prices are so high and it's hard to know what the Indian food will taste like. Also it's a little annoying but it says that the extra cost per person above the 50 or 100 included is decided by each resort. Why can't they just be consistent? Anyways, anyone have any tips or pointers? I have reached out to a few agents but they haven't been all that helpful... We are thinking of December 2018 if that's helpful!

One of which is called mojigangas (large dancing puppets) I am trying to find a company that offers this but not having too much luck since it’s more common in a different part of Mexico. Has anyone heard of this or do you know of somewhere I can contact to hire them?? Thank you and happy planning ladies!

I am looking strongly at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta for my 2018 wedding destination location as it is smaller than the other Hard Rock locations and has amazing sunsets. I have never been here so I am hesitant. Has anyone been here either on a vacation or for a wedding? I'd love to here your feedback! Thank you!
