Hi There, I know that there are extensive great reviews (and a few bad ones )on Suzanne Morelle's makeup services. I've looked up Suzanne's website, and while all photos look amazing, their prices are a bit high, especially since I am planning on paying my 6 bridesmaids makeup as well. So I was curious if any other bride out there has used another Hair & Makeup vendor out in Cabo, and what their experience were? Also, has any bride ever used the hair and makeup services at Grand Solmar? That is where I will be getting married at in November. Thank you and much appreciated for any responses!

HELLO!! I am brand-spankin new to this group and it seems like a great place to ask questions and inquire info! I am getting married this November in Punta Cana at the Excellence Resort El Carmen. #1 HAS ANYONE HAD THEIR WEDDING AT THIS RESORT??? My main question is regarding hair and makeup services. I would like to bring an outside vendor into the resort to do hair and makeup. I am looking for an artist located in the DR. Airbrush makeup and false lashes are a must. I will be getting a relaxed updo that need to withstand the humidity. Any recommendations?! I have reached out to Anna Nunet, Krystie Ann, and Olga, all who are booked. Thank you!!! Samantha

Hi Everyone, Any advice from anyone with Costa Rica Advice would be greatly appreciated! Getting Married June 2018 in Jaco, Costa Rica. It's frustrating and difficult to book/reserve vendors that I do not actually know (and just putting the trust into the hotel) all the way from Florida. I have seen some interesting and helpful posts from past brides but the posts date back to 2007... etc and a lot of the links are no longer able to be seen. The hotel has vendors they suggest, however, if I do not use their vendors they will charge me $100 for each new vendor I bring from the outside... Hair and makeup- they are charging me $100 for each service! I know that this is expensive because I was just in 2 weddings last year here and they were not nearly as expensive... They aren't willing to give me a group discount for my party either- everyone pays $100 for each service....I've seen the pictures of her work also, its "okay"... not overly impressed .... Officiant.... We don't necessarily need an official one as we are getting legally married first in Florida but, we'd like someone to hold the ceremony and they want to charge us over $600 for it... Violin and piano.... music They are charging me $1,100 for 2 hours.... I also need a DJ for the last hours but this price makes it difficult to do anything else... Flowers and Decor.... For tall floral centerpieces they are charging $350... what do you think? Favors... Does anyone have a suggestion of what they gave their guests seeing as though its a destination wedding and you don't want to fill their luggage with something unnecessary... Can anyone recommend a vendor they know, trust and like?! Also, if you've been married in Costa Rica, how do the above prices and features sound to you? I always thought the prices in Costa Rica should be a little better than in the states- I don't want to feel like I'm getting taken advantage of... Any input and advice is very appreciated! THANK YOU!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and would be grateful for any advice. We're finally getting married at Akiin Beach Club in Tulum on 14 May 2018 after 17 years together! We have over 35 family and friends joining us from the UK and we will all be staying at the Gran Bahia Principe in Akumal. Hair and Make Up My hair is above shoulder length and thick so will probably not be doing too much with it (too short for an up do), however, I have 6 bridesmaids who will probably want their hair done. The resort has a spa onsite for hair and make up and I have heard good reviews about their hair styling. However, I would like airbrush make up done because I'm hoping it will give a more flawless finish and will last longer in the heat. Does anyone know if the salon at Gran Bahia Principe Akumal does air brush make up? Or does anyone have any experience of using the salon for their wedding day? The resort changes a vendor fee of $300USD for outside vendors which would make it really expensive to bring anyone in. The only other alternative would be to rent a room closer to Akiin Beach for the night for my bridal party and have someone come to do our hair and make up - any recommendations on hotels or vendors is appreciated. Transport We would like to put on mini buses for our guests from the hotel to Akiin Beach and back. I guess we would need approx. 3 or 4 depending on how many people can fit in each vehicle. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice re transfer companies? Planning Should I be worried that I haven't heard back from the venue in over a week since I've emailed them? Legal stuff Our wedding coordinator at the venue said that we could have our blood tests carried out in the UK and sent to them in advance of the wedding but everything I've read online contradicts this. Can anyone advise? Also, does anyone know the cost of registrar and legal fees? Stag/ Bachelor party My fiancé would like to hire a fishing boat for all the guys and do a half day fishing trip from Akumal bay. We have seen Captain Rick's and are considering booking one of their boats but if anyone has any other advice or recommendations that would be great. Hen/ Bachelorette party To save on costs I was just going to have my bachelorette in the resort - dinner, few drinks and head out to the nightclub. I would like to treat my bridesmaids, mum and mother in-law to spa treatments if I can afford it. The spa at the hotel is quite pricey ($85USD for a manipedi!) - can anyone recommend anywhere cheaper nearby or suggest any alternative activities? If anyone else has been married at Akiin Beach I would love to hear from you! Grateful for any advice or experiences. Thanks Charmaine

Kerala is full of diverse tradition and culture. The three major communities in Kerala are Christians, Hindus and Muslims. Christians of Kerala have immersed themselves into the customs and practices of other two communities in Kerala, the Hindu and Muslim which blend to form a truly special wedding ceremony. Taking a look at the wedding attires and the bridal jewelry the Indian Christian weddings are quite distinct from what we imagine. The major wedding ceremonies in a Kerala Christian wedding: Matchmaking Marriages are considered the union of two people predestined by God. The initial proposal of the marriage begins from the brides sides through elders, relatives or with the help of brokers. Once both the families are fully convinced and satisfied about the family status and background, then they proceed to fix a date for the engagement or manassammatham and wedding day after the Kerala is full of diverse tradition and culture. Pre- Wedding Rituals Betrothal or the Manassammatham After the date for the wedding is fixed the next function is the betrothal or the manassammatham. Generally, the engagement ceremony takes place in girl’s home. Both the bride and groom show their willingness to marry in front of the church and their relatives. Betrothal is usually done as a small marriage function itself. The groom and his family members reach the bride’s parish along with the letter from their priest. All family members attend this ceremony and give their blessings to bride and groom for their married life and future. Announcement of Marriage via Church - Kalyanam Vilichu Chollal After the betrothal function, the marriage acceptance of both the bride and groom are announced to the public during Sunday Mass. Wedding Eve Madhuram Veppu The day before the wedding is filled with a number of ceremonies and rituals which follow the customs of Christian marriages. Night before the marriage, at the brides and grooms house, the Madhuram Veppu is conducted. The bride /groom is placed in a special seat and then the prayers are done and the uncle of the bride/groom will ask to the group of close relatives, whether he shall give the bride/groom the sweet, It will be asked three times and then sweet is given to the bride/groom. Wedding Day On the wedding day, the bride and the groom set off from their home after offering prayers. Marriage is usually conducted by the groom’s party, at their parish. The marriage is done along with the holy mass. The marriage is blessed in the middle of the holy mass, by the priest. One of the most imperative rituals in a Kerala Christian Wedding is Minnukettu. The bride ties a thaali on her neck. It is hanged on a string which is made from the seven threads that are taken from mantrakodi. Later, this string is replaced by a gold chain. At the end of this wedding ceremony, the couple signs their names in the register along with two witness’s signatures. With the end of the marriage functions at the church, the bride changes her costume to wear the mantrakodi. More about Kerala weddings visit- https://fonixeventmanagementcompany.blogspot.in/

Hi ladies. Reading through all of these forums has been so helpful to me while planning my destination wedding. But I can't find anything about the salon at Royal Sands Cancun. Considering the vendor fees for having my own hair and makeup artist, I would prefer to just have my hair and makeup done at the resort. However...I'm hoping to get some feedback from past Royal Sands brides about their experience. Any help is appreciated! Thanks so much!

Hi all! Was wondering if anyone can help me with planning the gran caribe wedding. We are thinking July 2018 and are a bit worried if anyone can help me answer some questions that would be great as I am a total stress ball now. Reception ends at 9 so they suggested we do ballroom inside then after.. honestly the ball room is soooo ugly how can I make this place look beautiful ? That carpet n ugly wall decor lol How was food? It's really hard to get these answers from the hotel. Is it buffet? How is it? Djs hair makeup video photographer recommendations? Having chapel catholic ceremony. How was English mass? Hotel looks so small scared it's going to feel too crowded is that so? No swim up bar which is weird? Do they have fun activities like the foam parties ? How hot do you think it'll be? I'm terrified about this! Please help me! I also started to look at kakua in Punta cana but it seems weird that guests need to get transports to the restaurant but looks so beautiful

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting on this forum. I would love to have my wedding in Mexico and the only thing that is holding me back is the fact that I may not be able to get my hair/makeup done there. I am an African American woman and I would need someone experienced in my hair type and has makeup for my skin tone. Can anyone suggest a hairstylist and makeup artist in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico who can help me?

I first learned of the Fish Foot treatment when one of my friends posted pictures of her experience during her trip to Asia, and I was immediately fascinated by this method of getting rid of the dead skin from your feet by way of tiny fish basically nibbling at your feet. Yes, at first the concept sounds a little crazy, but everything I read mentioned how effective it was at truly exfoliating your feet — and I’m a sucker for wanting smooth feet because as a Southern California I pretty much live and flip flops and sandals. So while on my last trip to Dreams Playa Mujeres, when found out the Dreams Spa by Pevonia at the resort offered this unique spa services, I jumped on the opportunity to let this box of fish do their work The first part of the treatment included getting my feet cleansed and pampered first to ensure that I didn’t have any lotions or oils on my feet that would damage the fish — the cleansing and quick foot massage was a pleasant surprise to say the least. Then it was onto the chair where I’d sit of the next 15 minutes while the fish did their thing. I was initially hesitant to put my feet in the water, but I was assured by the spa staff that the fish nibbles wouldn’t hurt but instead it would feel like a little tickle — and about 20 seconds into the treatment, they were totally right. Those initial nibbles are a little alarming, mostly because it’s probably a sensation you’ve never felt before, but they feel just like tiny little pulses along the pads of your feet and it is not painful at all. About a minute into the treatment, you’ll be totally at ease and you can sit back and relax — or if you’re like me, you’ll continue to be fascinated by the idea of what’s going on and take photos and video of your experience. My 15-minute treatment went by in a flash and when the spa therapist dried off my feet, I was happy to feel the new smoothness on my heels as well as the pads of my feet. This treatment totally works! Due to lack of time, I only opted for the 15-minute session, but I would recommend a longer treatment if you can swing it. This is definitely a unique and fun experience you’ll enjoy and remember, and of course the bonus is, you’ll end up with beautifully smooth feet! Hello everyone! I am a future bride and overwhelmed with the madness and lack of communication with my wedding coordinator in Mexico. I found out a month ago, I cannot hire a makeup artist to do makeup in my room. Any suggestions in the Playa Carmen/Cancun area that's familiar with makeup on black women? Also, trying to decide if having a private dinner on the beach or going off the resort for reception dinner is worth it. My group will be just 12 people. I need any input.

The Extent of it All...Hair extensions, Eyelash Extensions and Extending Your Wedding Day Look into the Night! Hair Extensions have come a long way. They are much more common and an everyday tool for hairstyles. If used correctly hair extensions can make your style look lustrous and chic. Many of my brides ask if they should use hair extensions? I base my answer on a few questions. If you answer yes to any of them you are a candidate for hair extensions... 1) Do you want to wear your hair half up, half down but you don't have enough hair? 2) Do you want the "beach wave" look but don't want it to look like you got stuck under a wave? 3) Does your hairstyle fall out in the heat and/or humidity? 4) When you put your hair up does it look "puney"? If any of this sounds familiar then I would recommend hair extensions. Hair extensions can create volume to an up-do, thickness to a side swept look, chic to your chignon and you can also add height to your puff if you so desire. Hair extensions hold a curl like no ones business and have more staying power than just hairspray. While your natural hair may lose the curl throughout the day, your hair extensions (if curled and applied correctly) are there to camouflage and blend in to create soft, flowy curls. There are many different hair extensions to choose from. I recommend talking with your stylist first about the look you both want to create. After your trial and/or consultation your stylist will know what type of extensions you should purchase. Please keep in mind the hair color should match yours. Also, if you decide to wear your hair up, you do not need as good a grade of hair extensions. If you opt for a down style, you should invest in some good extensions. Reason being, when your hair is up, your stylist can hide the quality of the extensions. When your hair is down, the whole beauty of the style is lavish hair. Eyelashes- Just like hair extensions, there are TONS to choose from. Depending on the look you and your makeup artist decide on will be the deciding factor on what type of eyelashes you should use. Here are a few rules of thumb (beauty rules are ALWAYS made to be broken!). NOTE: If you are not accustomed to using lashes I always recommend individual lashes. They are extremely comfortable and light. Individual Lashes - Look best with a "Natural" look. Mixing different lengths will create a very realistic look. You can use long lashes at the corners of your eye for a very understated cat eye. Strips - Look best with a "Smokey", "Clean" and "Dramatic" look. Short-Medium lashes that are not too close set are great for a smokey eye. Strips that are just for the corners of your eyes are great for a cat eye and a clean look. Long, close set strips are great for a dramatic look. Extending the wear of your makeup - Before you start your makeup be sure to use a light-weight moisturizer for oily skin (even if you do not have oily skin). Stay away from any products that say "moisturizing", "dewey" or "glow." Your makeup artist can create a dewey or glowing look for you without you looking like your middle initials are KFC. Once your makeup is all done, use a setting spray. Don't spray too close and form an "X" as you spray. Unless you have a lot of experience with humidity, I recommend you stay clear from touching up your own makeup. Over-use of makeup, especially if you are perspiring, will result in a cakey look. Otherwise, stick to blotting papers or hire your artist for touch ups! I beg all you beautiful brides out there to stop being so hard on yourself. I bet that every single picture you have saved as your hair and/or makeup inspiration, the model is using hair extensions, eyelashes and she has someone touching her up after every shot. You can look EXACTLY how you imagine with the right tools and application. You are only a hair extension and eyelash away All my best, Melissa MVP Hair and Make-Up Artistry

Besides the incredible massage and spa services the Vassa Spa offers at Azul Beach Hotel in Puerto Morelos, brides, bridesmaids and wedding guests can also enjoy the spa's full service hair and makeup salon to ensure they're picture perfect for the big day. The Vassa Spa salon staff is comprised of trained hair and makeup stylist who are very receptive to their client's inspiration photos and styling preferences. The staff also suggest that brides schedule a trial before the Wedding day to ensure that you get the look you've envisioned for your I Do's. "I would definitely suggest brides do a trial ahead of the Wedding day," says Yidan Ortiz, who has been one the salon's stylists for six years. Ortiz says that it can be challenging when the bride wants to try out a style or changes her mind on the day of the wedding because not all styles or looks work for every person's face or hair. Trial runs allow for the stylist and the client to nail down the perfect look for the final run come the big day. Hair and makeup trials should be scheduled in advance and requests can be made to work with the same stylist during both the trial and the Wedding day. The spa, which typically has at least four stylists on staff, uses Mac products for all makeup services because of its propensity to last in hot and humid weather conditions. Airbrush style makeup is also available upon request. Aside from hair and makeup services, Vassa Spa and salon also offers manicures and pedicures by appointment. Click here for more information about Vassa Spa's treatments, services and prices. Bridal Beauty Tips to Looking Flawless on Your Wedding Day
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Planning
Written by Styling Trio, a premier Hair & Makeup Agency in Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen We've worked closely with many lovely brides over the years and can't help but be constantly amazed by how many we encounter with beautiful skin and/ or luscious , healthy hair. Of course, being in the beauty business, we can’t help ourselves but to ask these gorgeous gals what they do, what's their secret. Many have told us about expensive facials and moisturizers and even some aggressive hair repair treatments. What we also hear about most often these days are the natural, basic, DIY tips to staying beautiful. These are our favorite ones , directly from our beautiful brides to you! Green Tea This one tops the list from personal experience . Green tea regenerates cells so of course it's great for your overall health. You still must watch what you eat but add Green tea to your diet too and boost your metabolism and improve your health. Susan got married in June last year. She started drinking green tea twice a day for 60 days and saw the difference right away . She felt it certainly helped keep her energy level up during the day. Perhaps consider having a cup of green tea to start your wedding day and give yourself a healthy little boost! Yoga Stress can cause breakouts. To avoid this, especially before wedding time, make sure you are at peace . A great way to achieve this state of Zen is through a combination of yoga and meditation. Both are great practices to help keep your nerves and anxiety under control. Lauren was married in January this year and she started breaking out as the wedding day got closer. So she went to a dermatologist in an attempt to get anything she could to stop from breaking out like this before her wedding. However, after talking to her dermatologist, she realized her breakouts were due to stress! Lauren was never a fan of yoga or meditation but it was something that she had to include in her life if she wanted to reduce stress and help control her breakouts. She started a yoga and meditation regimen 90 days before her wedding, practicing each at least 3 times a week and it really helped her. We saw her and we can attest to the fact she looked radiant on her wedding day! Chlorophyll Christina was married on April this year and we noticed her gorgeous skin right away! She told us her secret was a chlorophyll shot every morning . She started it 60 days before the wedding and the first 35 days her skin was already glowing! It makes sense if you think about it because chlorophyll brings oxygen and hydrates your skin. Christina also started drinking plenty of water and juicy fruits like watermelon and grapefruit as a part of this cholorophyll regimen. We think it worked wonders! Coconut Oil Meena was married in December last year and she had damaged hair from years of heat styling and more. So 30 days before the wedding , she heard about the benefits of coconut oil for dammaged hair and started treating her hair with coconut oil for 30 minutes daily. You just put it in and then and then shampoo and condition normally, preferably with cold water. The difference for Meena was huge and by the time her wedding came, her hair was gorgeous and so healthy looking! Honey Casey was married in August of last year and wanted to give a boost to her blonde locks before her wedding day. A couple of months before the big day , she noticed that her maid - of - honor's hair was looking shinier than usual and asked her what her secret was. She told her she started adding a teaspoon of honey to her conditioner every day . By the time the wedding came, Casey had gorgeous glowing locks just as she wanted. Some have had similar effects with the addition of olive oil to their conditioner. Try them both. They have antioxidant qualities that can be nothing but good for you! We love these tips not only because they are natural choices but you can easily include them in your everyday life and get that bridal glow before your big day! If you have more of natural DIY tips tips, please share with us below! Styling Trio is a Hair & Makeup agency representing talented artists in Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen. This post is part 2 of 3 for my review of SWO and my wedding in Jamaica. If you missed Part 1 go back and read it as I give a detail overview of the resort. (Part 1 of 3 is here and part 3 of 3 is here) WEDDING COORDINATORS The ladies in the wedding department at SWO are very knowledgeable and work really hard to help you have the perfect wedding day. Yes they are slow to respond when you are more than 2 months away from your wedding date but that is because they are busy helping other brides who are getting married before you. Once you get closer to your wedding date their response time does improve. If you are highly organized like I am then planning a destination wedding at any resort will truly test your patience but trust me when I say to remain calm…everything will come together in the end and the ladies at SWO will make sure you have a beautiful wedding day (rain or shine). The only real hiccups I had with dealing with the wedding coordinators were when I sent my paperwork for my marriage certificate. I sent it by courier as they requested and paid extra to have 24 hour delivery. I sent the coordinators a message letting them know I had sent it out and for them to let me know when they received my paperwork. After about I week I checked in with them and they said they hadn’t receive it. I asked the coordinator I was dealing with to double check with the other coordinators in the office and she insisted nobody in their office had received anything from me. I totally panicked as she also told me since they had not received my paperwork by the deadline I would not be able to get married on my scheduled date and would need to rebook everything for a different date. I ran a search through my courier and discovered the resort did indeed receive my package within the 24 hours after I sent it. My courier also gave me a pdf of the signature by the wedding coordinator who received the package and low and behold it was the same wedding coordinator that had insisted she had not received my paperwork and told me I had to reschedule my wedding. I sent her the pdf of the signature and suddenly she “remembered” that they had received it. I know they are busy and accidents happen but I have to say an apology would have been nice. Needless to say I was not too happy with her but was relieved I didn’t have to reschedule everything. The other frustration is that I didn’t seem to have a designated coordinator planning my wedding. It seemed that all three coordinators at SWO were working on my wedding, depending on who had time. This is a frustration because I often had to re explain my requests or preferences. It was almost like they didn’t talk to each other even though their office is small and they all basically work at the same long desk. Very frustrating but like I said in the end it all came together and my wedding day was more perfect and beautiful then I could have imagined so I guess that’s all that matters. To their credit – I had originally booked the Ultimate wedding package because we thought we were going to have a big group coming to our wedding. When we realized we would no longer be a big group the wedding coordinators let us switch to the basic (free) package without issue and did not try to change us a penalty for the last minute change. RESORT HAIR/MAKEUP Prior to my wedding I debated about hiring an outside vendor for hair and makeup. There really wasn’t much out there in reviews by past SWO brides about the hair and makeup services at the resort spa which made me a bit nervous but in the end the $600 outside vendor fee ($300 for each) made me decide to go with the hair and makeup provided by the resort spa. I contacted the spa about 2 months prior to our wedding to book my appointment for hair and makeup and asked what makeup they used. The lady at the spa said it was Mirabella which is apparently professional grade makeup so I decided to give them a chance. The final result of their services were just OK. At my appointment the same girl did my hair and makeup. When she first started to do my makeup she pulled out L’Oréal True Match foundation! I was a little shocked since I was told they only use professional grade makeup. She told me they do but she thinks L’Oréal would be better for my pictures, really? Better than professional grade make-up? Luckily I had brought all my own makeup with me so I told her to use my Laura Mercier Photo Finish Foundation instead. When she finished doing my makeup it was way too “drag queenish” and she filled in my eyebrows so thick I looked like I had a uni-brow. I made her fix my eyebrows and they were better after she fixed them but I still fixed the rest of the makeup myself once I got back to my room to tone down the drag queen factor. (yes, I know your makeup needs to be heavier than normal to show in pictures but this was beyond that). For my hair I wanted soft bouncy curls and although she did curl my hair she sprayed it with so much hair spray while she was curling it my curls were not soft or bouncy. It wasn’t what I had envisioned but looked OK. When I asked her why she was spraying so much hair spray she said it was because the only way the curl would hold is if she sprayed it with hair spray. The total cost for my hair and makeup through the resort was $150 USD. If I was to go back in time I would have spent the extra money and hired an outside vendor. I know not everyone can spend a small fortune on outside vendors (at $300 each vendor it adds up quickly) so if you can’t afford it go with the resort hair and makeup but go to your local Sephora and get some makeup lessons beforehand so you can do your own makeup if the resort screws it up. If you are a Sephora VIB Rouge member like I am the lessons are free. If you are a Beauty Insider then the lessons are free too but you have to buy $40 worth of makeup at the end of the lesson but really who can honestly go to Sephora and NOT spend $40? I went for 2 separate makeup lessons at Sephora a few months before my wedding so I could practice the techniques I learned and I’m so glad I did as it came in handy when I needed to fix my makeup on my wedding day. One final tip – if you do go with the resort hair and makeup leave yourself enough time before the ceremony/pictures in case you have to fix their mistakes. My appointment was at 10am and I was done hair and makeup appointment by noon. My photos were starting at 2pm so I had a 2-hour buffer which worked out perfectly. RESORT PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEOGRAPHER Both the photographer and videographer provided by the resort are the same photographers that walk around the resort day and night taking pictures of you then try to sell you the pictures. When my husband and I were at SWO in 2014 we hired them to take some sunset photos of us to have as souvenirs. We didn’t know at the time that we would be getting married there (we weren’t even engaged yet) but having already seen the quality of their work when it came time to plan my wedding I knew no matter what I would be hiring an outside vendor for photos. Don’t get me wrong, the resort photographers are not the worst photographers in the world but they are also not the caliber I would expect from a wedding photographer. Most of their poses are cheesy and they don’t seem to pay attention to little details such as everyone having their legs crossed the same direction etc. I’m sure they have more than one photographer and some are better than others but having been unsatisfied with my past experience I didn’t want to take the chance. I ended up hiring Misha Earle and she was absolutely fantastic to work with. I will give more details about our experience with Misha in the next section. Even though we hired Misha for our photos the wedding coordinators still insisted I had to use their photographer too. I told them I didn’t not want their photographer at my wedding but they still insisted it was non-negotiable and I HAD to use their photographer as well as my own since it was part of the wedding package. This is when I politely reminded them that I had paid the $300 vendor fee for the “privilege“ to bring my own photographer onto the resort property and I did not want their photographer getting in the way of Misha capturing the photos of my wedding. With that they conceded and said they would not send their photographer. When I was arriving to the ceremony I did see their photographer lurking in the bushes near the gazebo where we were getting married. I shot him a dirty look as we drove past him on the golf cart and he disappeared and I never saw him again . Since they knew I would not be purchasing pictures from them I can only suspect their photographer came anyway to try and get pictures so they could add to their portfolio to sell packages to future brides. MISHA EARLE PHOTOGRAPY What can I say about Misha that hasn’t already been said by countless other brides on here? She is indeed fantastic to work with and the photos she produces are truly works of art. It’s been almost 8 months since my wedding and I still can’t stop looking at them. My husband and I are not very photogenic and she managed to make us feel at ease. We truly felt like we had an old friend at our wedding taking our pictures. She also brought along her assistant Kenmar and he was such a riot. We decided to do “first look” photos before the ceremony and shot a majority of the photos before the ceremony since we were getting married at 4pm and didn’t want to be rushed by the sunset to capture all our pictures. At one point Kenmar went off with my husband and shot some individual photos of him and Misha worked with me to capture my bridal photos. This was a big time saver and meant we weren’t standing around when the other was getting individual photos taken. We loved working with both of them. I did have to pay SWO $300 to allow Misha onto the property for our wedding day and on top of that the resort also made me pay an additional $80 for a day pass to allow Kenmar on the property but Misha covered the cost of the vendor fee by reducing her rate by $300 so we ended up just paying for Kenmar’s guest pass. Another thing I really liked about Misha is she Skyped with us about 2 months before our wedding. This gave us a chance to actually see her instead of just emailing back and forth. We were able to discuss all the pictures we would like to have captured on the day and get to know her a bit. Misha is also very spunky and will not let the wedding coordinators push you or her around on your wedding day. She will fight for you, her client. After our ceremony was done we were getting ready to take some pictures with the cake. The cake was on a table off to the side of the gazebo with a bunch people in bathing suits drinking and partying in the background. The wedding coordinators were trying to make us take the photos with the cake where it was but Misha wasn’t having it. She told them to move the cake table to where the ceremony was so we would have the ocean, flowers, and, drapery as a background. When they refused she and Kenmar picked up the cake table and moved it themselves. The coordinators did not look happy but they didn’t say anything. I couldn’t help but laugh:lol: 4 weeks after our wedding Misha sent us a link to a video slideshow displaying a selection of about 50 photos. It was set to our wedding song “All of me” by John Legend and when my husband watched it for the first time he cried because the photos were so beautiful (he is not a crier). About 4 weeks or so after the video slide show we received a flash drive with all the photos in the mail. This was the timeframe she had told us when we first hired her so she was true to her word. One final thing I really liked about Misha. I asked her to not “Kim Kardashian” (aka Photoshop) our photos as I wanted to capture our true selves and the real beauty of our wedding day and she said that’s the way she prefers to work anyway. Another example of her talent, she is able to capture the right angles to make you look your natural best. I don’t have a single complaint about Misha or the quality of her work. She was phenomenal to work with. You will not be disappointed if you hire Misha to photograph your wedding. Here are a few pics from our wedding taken by Misha: TIA FLORAL vs. FLORAL FANTASIES vs. REAL TOUCH The resort uses Tia Floral as their flower vendor. A quick search of the forums on here and you will find countless brides warning you to stay away from them. I am giving the same advice. I originally ignored their advice and asked Tia for a quote for a mixture of hydrangeas, roses, and orchids to decorate the entrance to the gazebo. These flowers were only going to span the 7 foot opening along the top of the gazebo and they came back with a quote of $2600 USD!!!! Crazy! I knew the price would be high but that is highway robbery in my opinion. It was also like pulling teeth trying to get the quote from them. I had to nag them for several weeks before they got back to me. I spoke to a few locals and they said the reason Tia Floral is so expensive and hard to work with is because a majority of the resorts use them as their preferred vendor so they kind of have brides over a barrel. After the outrageous quote I asked Misha for her advice on a floral vendor to deal with. She recommended Floral Fantasies. They were fantastic to deal with and came back with a quote of $600 USD for the same thing Tia wanted $2600 USD for. Even with paying the outside vendor fee their price was way lower and I had more confidence in them since they were always quick to get back to me, made recommendations to reduce the price and overall seemed way more professional. Just before our wedding we ended up having an emergency furnace replacement at home so I had to divert funds from our wedding budget for that which meant I had to drop the real flower decorations for gazebo I ordered from Floral Fantasies. They were very understanding and refunded almost all my money (think they kept about $100 for a cancellation fee). I had already made my own bouquet, my husband’s boutonniere and my grandmother’s corsage with real touch flowers so I decided to just create my own decorations with real touch flowers for the gazebo and bring them with me. I have another post on here from earlier this year covering my bouquet and other flowers with pictures for those of you that are interested. In the end my gazebo decorations ended up costing me about $200 including the drapery I also brought from home (a $30 last minute find at a local thrift shop) and although was not what I originally wanted still made for a pretty backdrop for our ceremony. Here’s a picture of the decorated gazebo:

Hi everyone!! I am getting married at Azul Sensatori in Mexico on January 21, 2017 and I'm really struggling with deciding on what to do for hair/make up. I'd really like to hire this Karen Lopez and she says that she can come to our room at the resort and all I'd have to pay extra is a daypass fee for a guest. I'm concerned I guess about this not working and they wind up charging me another whopping 800 dollar outside vendor fee. Too nerve wracking! But the salon prices at the resort are too high so I'd really like to go with another vendor for this. Any thoughts/advice or experience dealing with this kind of issue?? Thank you!!!

Hello everyone! My name is LaTayia but I go by Tia. My fiance and I were recently engaged on May 22nd. We are extremely interested in a destination wedding and have decided to have it in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We took our first international trip together there and thought it would be really nice to go back to where we started. Currently I am interested in having it at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen because that is where we stayed our first trip and since we have young children coming I felt it would be the best option since there is an adults only and a family side. After looking at the website the tailor made option seems to be the best fit for us. We plan to get married June 2, 2018 so I know it's a little early to actually book everything but I would definitely love any advice you all are able to offer. There will be about 40 or so people in attendance. I have a few questions that hopefully someone may be able to address: 1) When it comes to booking the resort for a wedding, do you have to pay a down payment or do you pay in full? 2) How does making room reservations work? Each couple that will be coming will be paying for their own rooms so do we just tell the hotel how many rooms we will need and then the block them out? Or do my fiance and I have to make a payment to reserve the rooms? 3) If in the event that it rains, where do they have the ceremonies? 4) Is there anything that we are not permitted to bring to the resort? Such as a unity candle or remembrance candles for loved ones who are no longer with us? A related question is, has anyone packed the knives to cut the cake with in their luggage? 5) Can anyone offer any information about how much each package costs? I know I can call the resort and ask but I am curious to know the range in which others have paid. 6) Does the DJ that is recommended by the resort play all types of music/can you request him to play certain songs? 7) For those who have had their hair and makeup done at the spa, how did you like it? Do they specialize in all hair types and complexions? 8) If anyone could give their experiences on the ease or trouble they went through when planning their wedding at this resort went that would be great! I know I have asked a lot of questions here but I am just really excited! lol Thank you in advance for all of your help

Azul Beach Hotel in Puerto Morelos is not only know for their awesome beach beds located right on the shore, the resort also offers top notch spa services that can take your quest for relaxation to a whole new level. Azul Beach's Vassa Spa gives guests more than just your typical spa treatments, they provide a complete spa experience. Besides being able to lounge and unwind in one of the relaxing warm and cold plunge pools, spa goers can also opt for a Beachfront Sky Massage, or experience a couple’s treatment in one of the spa's double massage cabins. During my recent stay Azul Beach, my husband and I had the opportunity to indulge in an hour-long beachfront sky massage, which takes place under an open-air palapa hovering over the Caribbean Sea, so while you're getting the massage of your life, you can also relax to the soothing sounds of the ocean waves hitting the shore. The spa allows you to schedule appointments for treatments and I didn't have any trouble picking my preferred time slot -- they are quite flexible and accommodating. You can even schedule a moonlight massage if that's what you prefer! Prior to your massage, the spa staff will have you check in and fill out a form to find out what type of massage you prefer while also finding out whether you have any trouble spots or tight areas that need special attention. The experience is customized from beginning to end, with your relaxation and pleasure in mind throughout. I can't say enough about the kindness and professionalism of Vassa Spa's staff, they really go out of their way to ensure that when you walk through their door, you are well taken care of. Getting a massage from one of their trained massage therapists is truly a wonderful experience that one should indulge in during their stay. With hair and makeup options as well as their expansive menu of spa services, Vassa Spa is a great option for brides-to-be and their partners as well as wedding guests. But children can also indulge in different beautifying and calming rituals, such as the Princess for a Day experience. The pampering is open to everyone! Click here for more information about Vassa Spa's treatments, services and prices. Question: Is it necessary for me to get a hair & makeup trial done before the Wedding Day? Answer: According to Styling Trio, a premier Hair & Makeup Agency in Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen: "We often get asked by brides if a trial run before the wedding is really necessary. As part of the Styling Trio team here in Mexico, I started working on this piece a few weeks ago and decided to visit a few brides on their wedding day who had had trial runs days before and ask them this question. I knew my answer was YES, simply based on how the hair and makeup artists' minds work but I wanted to get insight from actual brides. Some of my favorite answers from brides were: “Not having a trial was never an option!” and “You wouldn’t book a photographer without looking at their work?” And they are so right! Even though nowadays it's real easy to see the work of a hair and makeup artist via their social media profiles or on a website, but the reality is every bride is different. We're all unique in this world and good artists know that not every technique works for every client. Artists may have their mark and a particular style but it’s definitely not a “copy-paste” situation. One thing I see among brides that have had a trial run is that on their wedding day, their hair and makeup is always better ... ALWAYS! Let’s not forget that we are working with creative perfectionist-types (i.e. hair and makeup artists), and after a trial run, their minds will still be working and thinking how can they make it better. The good news is, they have another opportunity to make it perfect. The second time around, the artists know the recipe for your hair and makeup and know exactly what to do and what not to do to create their masterpiece. The trial is also essential because when the big day comes, artists have to stay on schedule and therefore the time frame to finish may be shorter, but by then, they already know what they plan to do and so it streamlines the process. Trial runs are also great for creating good energy and an easy going vibe for the wedding day because by then, everyone has already met and knows one another. This tends to put brides at ease and make it more comfortable, and believe me, when you're relaxed, it helps your hair and makeup look flawless and getting ready will be fun and easy! I know that a trial run is not an option for all brides because of busy schedules or perhaps the budget doesn’t allow for it, so in the event you decide not to or can't have a trial, don’t worry! My advice is to go through the artist’s social media and view pictures of his/her work. If you like what you see, then I wouldn’t be worried about them doing a good job on your wedding day. The photos they post are an excellent representation of their work. The only thing that you will need on your wedding day is good communication and patience! This helps keep both you and the artist relaxed so they can do their very best for you. The artists always want to make sure you’re happy but it may take a little extra time to achieve the perfect look, so be sure to factor in this additional time needed either before the ceremony or before your photographer comes to shoot the "bride getting ready" photos. All the brides I met looked absolutely gorgeous. Samira, the bride featured in the photos in this post, was one of them. She scheduled the hair and makeup trial on the day of her welcome dinner party and after the trial run, the artists changed her hair and makeup so she had a different look for the evening's dinner. My advice is to take advantage of the trial and book it before the rehearsal dinner or Sangeet or even for a pre-wedding photoshoot!" Hello to all the lovely brides! I have a question aimed at brides who have had/will be having their wedding at Paradisus Punta Cana. I am getting married there on November 11, 2016.. just 6 months away!! I chose the Allure package which includes hair for the bride however I am choosing to have my friend to my hair instead. I know i cannot get any refund for the bridal hair, but I was wondering if I could just have my mom or sister use the bridal hair instead of me. Have any brides done this?? I would hate to lose out on something since they nickle and dime you for everything! Any feedback/information is greatly appreciated!!
