Looking to get married in the Spring of 2018 in either Aruba or Grand Turk. Wondering whether to book wedding package through Carnival or go through an independent vendor avoiding Carnival expenses since I would like to get married ON the island, not the ship. And I would rather not have reception because I don't want to take time away from port to get back on ship early. Any advice?

Hey all! This is my first time posting on this board and I am planning on a 2017 Carnival Cruise Wedding. I really like the low stress idea, where there's no having to deal with clean up or set up, its just one big party! I am nervous about how everyone else will react to the news, my mom and sister love the idea but I don't want the rest of my family to roll their eyes and say ' we have to PAY to come to your wedding?'. How did your families react when you told them the news? Did you get any bad reactions?

I can't believe I'm less than a year out from the wedding! We booked it in March/April when they released the dates. We are having an embarkation day wedding on the Oasis of the Seas out of Port Canaveral on November 5, 2017. The ceremony will be held in Dazzles Nightclub. I have been lost in this whole process. I can't seem to find much information for what I'm looking for. I've been scouring the sites since we first booked and I feel like I'm being spun in circles! Things I'm trying to find info for (specifically for embarkation day weddings/Port Canaveral/RCCL): I'm trying to figure out a timeline for my wedding day (time to be at the port, embarkation, wedding time, disembarkation for non-sailing) Transportation for wedding guests from Orlando International to the hotel Photography - I don't think/feel like 3 hours is enough time for all the pictures I want done. I have a list of pictures and I'm sure the photographer will be (hopefully) creative and come up with another list. Can we get 'first look' pictures? Getting ready pictures? I know its a no-no to bring your own, but I can't help but think about it. Its a long story but after what had happened with my dad only a month after my sisters wedding pictures are very very important to me! Invitations - I am doing a traditional pocketfold invitation for the wedding. Has anyone done the traditional pocketfold before? If so what information did you include for your inserts? Are you willing to share pictures? I love the idea of the boarding pass/passport invites but I don't feel they are for us. Decorations - How much does the cruise line provide? Has anyone gone all out for their wedding? Is an aisle runner worth it? Beauty - Does anyone have any/Know of any hair stylists/makeup artists in the Port Canaveral area? I'm looking for someone who would come to the hotel the morning of. Welcome Dinner? OOT Bags? Flowers? Getting everything on the ship?

My name is Charlotte and I'm planning to marry abroad in 2017. However, I haven't decided in what country I want to marry in yet, I'm thinking maybe South America or Europe. I'm currently in the process of researching venues but I'm unsure what type of search words I should use when browsing venues. Any suggestions? Can anyone tell me their experience on how they found their venue abroad? How much time did you spend looking? I just want to find the perfect venue for my day. All help much appreciated:)

I am putting together the list for my OOT Bags for my upcoming wedding onboard the Freedom of the Seas. We have about 42 confirmed guest traveling with us. I am planning to have each bag delivered to the rooms during evening turndown service. I have had a blast shopping for bargains . I was able to get a lot of items during black Friday and christmas sales. So far my bags include Bags - Hobby Lobby 3 pack canvas bags (white) - 7.99 with 40% off one item coupon. 4.79 for the pack / 1.60 each bag. The quality is nice. I did search the web and saw that Zazzle.com has their bags for 75%. They run different sales daily. If I had not already brought the other bags I would have used zazzle. I will use our logo and use iron on transfer paper to decorate the bags. Selfie Sticks - 3.99 at Michael's (Black Friday sale) These are so much fun. I really enjoyed using mine while traveling. Highlighters - 5.49 for 18 Amazon Wet wipes Individual packs - 2.00 for 24 in a pack. Bargain Hunt discount store Caress / Dove mens Body Wash - .90 cent for 12oz. Rite Aid I combined Coupons and sale price. I never bring enough soap when I travel and I dislike the soap provided so I thought this would be a nice thing to do. Bath sponge - .50 Fallas Discount store Parrothead 50 spf 6oz Spray - .50 Fallas Discount Store. I was stoked when I saw this deal. They had a ton left over from the summer. I felt like I Hit the lotto on this one. Check out all the discount stores clearance isles, you never know what deal you can find. Febreze - 1.00 Target I used coupons. The rooms are tiny and I always take air freshener on any trip. I am planning on getting Shout wipes advil Pepto Bismal tablets first aid kits crossword / sudoku puzzles playing cards pashmina's lanyards cotton dirty clothes bags - I always wished I had one when I travelled

Hello, I'm new to this blog site and recently engaged this month. We have chosen, what we believe to be, a less stressful and the least expensive route of a cruise beach wedding. We are crushing Carnival Sensation Feb 2017. The cruise leaves out of Miami and docks in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. After speaking to Carnival the amount of money charged only covers a few things. A vendor, who is responsible for the decor and other essential items, charges a separate pricing for those items. We are looking to have 20 guest to sail with us. Has anyone cruised and participated or participating in an upcoming beach wedding offered by Carnival? What did you all do immediately after the beach wedding? Are there some things I need to watch out for or hidden costs or hiccups? What are your experiences? All feedback is welcomed.

Newport Manners & Etiquette: Coworker Wedding Etiquette
carpenter posted a blog entry in carpenter's Blog
The etiquette of inviting coworkers to your wedding Q. About wedding etiquette and coworkers, what do you do when one of your coworkers has a big wedding and doesn’t invite all of her closely-knit team? It is a small hair salon with sixteen stylists and beauticians and four of us were not invited. It was particularly awkward because our boss, who did the bride's hair for her wedding and attended it as well, gave a bridal shower in the salon after hours and invited all fifteen of us for champagne and cupcakes. Some of us have been working in the salon for over twenty years and when there is a birthday, pregnancy or wedding to celebrate, we all chip in and buy something significant from her registry as a joint birthday or shower present. That way we know we are giving her something she really needs and wants. Not only that but working side-by-side on our feet for long hours, while sharing information, hair products and equipment, we overheard the details of her wedding and often ventured an opinion when the bride asked for one. By the time the wedding invitations went out, we had all bought our coworker a wedding present. Sadly, four of us were disappointed that we weren’t invited to the wedding. It was hurtful. Luckily, I like the gift I bought her and am happy to keep it for myself. However, that doesn’t solve the problem of what happens when she comes back from her three-week Hawaiian honeymoon. Everyone will want to talk about her wedding -- everyone but the four of us who weren't invited. PHOTO convertible bridesmaid dress The fact that we weren’t invited will be the elephant in the room. Giving her our gifts would be guilt-tripping her and none of us wants to do that. On the other hand, it would clear the air if we knew why we weren’t invited, or she apologized for not inviting everyone. Do we pretend we don’t care and aren’t hurt because we were excluded? E.H., Providence A. The problem is that you were led to assume that you would be invited to the wedding. You believed you were on the guest list. From the very start, the bride should have made it clear to all of you that she was having a small family wedding. That would be the clue that not everyone working in the salon was being invited. Understandably, over the course of months of wedding preparation her coworkers became somewhat emotionally invested in the wedding. Why wouldn’t they when they were being asked for their opinions and being feted at a workplace bridal shower? Look at it this way. It may have been easier not to invite four out of sixteen of her coworkers than not to invite only one or two. You all should keep the present you bought or return it. When it comes to welcoming the glowingly tanned bride back to work, do so with a quick smile, and move on. Compliment her tan, ask about her honeymoon, but not about the wedding. Of course, you can be sure that she will be dying to talk about her wedding with her posse, but let’s hope she will be too embarrassed to do so. If she shoves wedding photos in your face, be polite, but don’t comment beyond saying something like, "Nice hairdo.” Which you’ll have to say, because your boss did her hair for the wedding. I am a less than 2 months away from my wedding in St. Thomas. I booked through the cruise ship and am having second thoughts now that I'm finally doing some research on getting married in St. Thomas! I spoke with an independent wedding planner and she priced out the same items I get through the cruise ship and its far less expensive. What are the downside to hiring an independent planner?

I have 39 leftover OOT bags from my cruise wedding. Perfect for nautical or anchor themes! They are generously sized and my guests ended up using them as beach/pool/excursion totes. Asking $1 each plus a little to cover shipping so $45 total.

You will soon be able to get married at sea on Norwegian Cruise Line starting this fall. The legal ceremonies at sea, which will be performed by the ship’s captain, are available on Norwegian Breakaway, Getaway, and Escape, according to company President and COO Andy Stuart. The company had initially offered legal wedding ceremonies only while the ship is docked in its embarkation port or in various destinations. All NCL weddings include a wedding planner and on-site coordinator. Legal same-sex ceremonies are also available at destinations where they are legally recognized. With starting prices at $2,199, the new wedding package includes the ceremony, bouquet and boutonniere, cake, champagne toast, bistro dinner for two, three bottles of wine, chocolate-covered strawberries, canapés delivered to stateroom, priority tendering and debarkation, and one hour of photography services, according to TravelPulse.com. Packages for onboard symbolic ceremonies conducted during days at sea are priced from $1,799 and includes the ceremony, bouquet of 12 ivory roses and matching boutonniere, pre-recorded music, six-inch cake, bottle of sparkling wine, champagne toast, an 8x10 photograph in engraved frame, keepsake certificate, and canapés and chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to stateroom, the website added. Couples can also partake in vow renewal ceremonies starting at $499, which include the ceremony performed by a ship’s officer, a red rose, a cake, champagne toast, an 8x10 framed photograph, certificate, and bottle of sparkling wine, chocolate-covered strawberries and canapés in stateroom. Hi all, Now that the dust has settled, it's time to share my cruise bride experiences. I loved my wedding and have such fond memories, but honestly, knowing what I know now, I wouldn't choose to do a cruise wedding again. The nitty gritty: Cruise: April 9 2014 Royal Caribbean of the Seas Wedding: April 12, Poop Deck, Nassau Guests: 50 on the boat, 62 total Wedding Planner: Annamae Fox Photographers: The R2 Studio Travel Agent: Wendy Hicks The Cruise - 0/5 stars We picked RCCL and this particular cruise because my husband's grandparents love RCCL, and because this particular cruse satisfied our "must leave from miami, be < 5 days, and cost < $500 pp" requirements. We did NOT go with RCCL's wedding department after hearing horror stories, but still tried to plan some things through their group department, thinking that would be better. huge mistake. Their group department was terrible, and something was wrong with everything. We booked, through the group department, a sign in table for our group, an open bar cocktail party, and a conference room (we had a scavenger hunt, and the conf. room was our start/end). I could probably write 5 pages of everything that went wrong with the RCCL, but, sparing you the gory details, our events went so badly that after talking to customer service, they opened a case with corporate and eventually gave us a refund. If anyone is interested, I can share the whole story, but bottom line, DO NOT plan any events through Royal Caribbean. Even if you think "oh, but I just want a table to distribute my OOT bags. They can't screw that up.", don't do it. They can. The Wedding - 5/5 stars I am so immensely grateful that we went with Annamae Fox for the wedding. The wedding was perfect. 100% perfect. Location, food, decorations, music, everything was amazing. I was really nervous after having so many problems with the cruise that the wedding was going to also be a disaster. Everything went right. The guests got on busses to the venue, and people were telling us about how amazing the driver was, and how he had these great stories for every building they passed by. The poop deck was perfect. It was secluded, and our guests got to play on the beach and enjoy the tropical drinks. The food was OUTSTANDING. The cake was so tasty. Anna kept everything going smoothly, and I got to actually enjoy the whole day and hang out with my guests. She kept things running on time, and kept me stress-free, happy, and fed The Photographers - 10/5 stars By far, I had been most nervous about finding photographers. Who in their right mind would sign up to photograph a whole destination wedding? Not just the wedding, but a whole cruise, and an engagement session? In a different country no less? If anyone was crazy enough to consider it, I was sure it was going to cost an arm and a leg. I shared my concerns with my friend, who said "oh, my former-wedding-photographers-now-best-friends love this sort of stuff. You should call them" I sheepishly emailed Robin & Renee, The R2 Studio, and within 5 minutes, I got a call. It was Robin. "This sounds awesome! We'd love to!" My jaw hit the floor. At the end of the whole wedding, we had an engagement shoot, photos from every day of the cruise (including the scavenger hunt), a trash the dress shoot (on coco-cay the day before), photos from the whole wedding day, and vogue photos on the boat afterwards. All in all, we got over 1200 photos, not counting the engagement shoot photos (they flew out to CA a few months before to do those). They are not only amazing photographers, but also amazing friends They gave us so many priceless memories. I'll let their photos speak for themselves. Final thoughts, what details really worked - Scavenger Hunt on the cruise. Everyone had a TON of fun, and it got all of our guests talking. Best ice breaker ever. We bought our questions from here: http://www.mymysteryparty.com/crshschuindo.html (As sketchy as the website is, I promise it's worth it). - Hair & Makeup -- RCCL couldn't tell us if they could do hair and makeup until we were on the boat (again, RCCL was awful). Hair ended up being a non-issue. They opened the spa for us at 7am on saturday, and everyone got all dolled up while drinking champagne. Makeup we had to do ourselves, but everyone had already had lessons from sephora. - Bingo cards. We made bridal bingo cards and Anna gave them out while we were taking family photos. Everyone jumped to play, and there wasn't that awkward-cocktail-hour problem, since everyone was rushing around trying to meet people to satisfy the cards - OOT bags -- Everyone loved them, and we put a lot of detail into it. Totally worth it, even if it was difficult - Travel agent -- Wendy was immensely kind and helpful coordinating the whole thing, and helped keep the heat on RCCL to make things right afterwards. I don't know what we'd do with out her, and say you should definitely use a travel agent to coordinate guests (so you don't have to!) In the end, it was great having everyone in one place and seeing all our guests for several days, but I feel like we could have gotten that with an all-inclusive resort, and saved ourselves the cruise headache. Here's a selection of images from the cruise, wedding, and TTD. I tried to capture the ones that had a lot of the details. There's plenty more if people want them!

I always try to do something new on my vacations. But usually I spend my Christmas vacations at home. But for this vacation we tried out something different. We went for cruise vacations instead of staying at home. We celebrated Xmas and New year on the cruise. It was amazing! Have you ever celebrated X'mas or New Year on cruise?

Erica and Al's Carnival Cruise Wedding Erica and Al were wed on April 3, 2012. Erica, username acireta, used the BDW Community to bring her destination wedding to life. Erica gives back to the BDW Community as she kindly shares the details of her perfect day in an interview below. Wedding Profile The Bride Erica Taffs The Groom Al Kruse Hometown Downers Grove, IL Wedding Date April 3, 2012 Wedding Locations Shoreside wedding during Carnival Liberty Eastern Caribbean cruise Ceremony at Limetree Beach, St. Thomas, USVI; Reception at Iggie’s Beach Bar, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, St. Thomas, USVI. Why did you choose to have a destination wedding? We both have huge families and have been to a lot of local weddings in the past few years, so we chose a destination wedding to keep costs down and to try something a little different from other family weddings. Having our wedding during a Caribbean cruise was the best option for us to (affordable) get to see a lot of places in a short amount of time with lots of things to see and try! Why did you choose your location? When we had been dating for a few months, we started joking about how someday we’d get married on St. Thomas. “St. Thomas” became a secret phrase for us that we would say when we wanted to secretly communicate with each other, often when someone would ask us about our future plans for getting married. When the time came to plan, we decided we wanted to do a cruise that stopped on St. Thomas instead of spending a week on the island. When it came time to choose a ceremony location, we wanted a quiet private beach, and Limetree Beach fit the bill perfectly – shade, sand, privacy, affordable site fee. We wanted a very casual venue for the reception, a place where we could spend plenty of time with our guests, especially those that weren’t cruising with us. Iggie’s Beach Bar at Bolongo Bay Resort was a perfect fit for us. Guests ordered what they wanted off the menu, they set aside a whole open-air area of the restaurant for us and let us stay all day, the service was relaxed but attentive and quick, and the food was delicious! What were your wedding colors and/or theme? Our colors were Malibu blue, black and white. We wanted a minimalistic feel, with plenty of beach and tropical elements thrown in. We used palm trees on our monogram and stationery. Every wedding is special in its own right. What made your wedding unique? I did a TON of DIY stuff for our wedding – budgets, checklists, monograms, invitations, OOT bags, bouquets, boutonnieres, ceremony details. I obsessed over details for 15 months, but on the wedding day, I was able to sit back, relax and just let everything happen. It was a perfect day! Throughout the whole planning process, Al was wonderful and supportive. If there was something he felt strongly about, he spoke up. I ran everything by him all the time to make sure we were on the same page with our vision of the wedding. In the end, it truly was OUR wedding, not MY wedding, which was very important to me from the beginning. How to plan a wedding on a cruise? According to Cruise Lines International Association, cruise weddings have grown at a phenomenal rate the last few years. Five years ago, there were practically none, but this year there will be thousands. Carnival Cruise Lines alone estimates it will plan over 2000 weddings this year, and those weddings will also have a built-in honeymoon. This growth rate should not be surprising. You can have a wedding and then sail off on your honeymoon! No travel time wasted between the "I dos" and the fun. Most cruise weddings are on the major cruise lines. Wedding packages are available from American Hawaii, Cape Canaveral, Carnival, Celebrity, Costa, Holland America, Norwegian, Premier, Princess, Regal, and Royal Caribbean International. Cruise weddings can take place onboard in a public room on the ship, or on a romantic shore such as a beach or a glacier. The Grand Princess has its own wedding chapel, and the captain is authorized to marry you at sea. RCCI's Voyager of the Seas has a wedding chapel, but you will need to tie the knot while in port. Many couples get married while in a Caribbean port or before the cruise begins. That way the guests can come aboard, enjoy the service, and disembark before sailing. Alternatively, you could invite all your guests on the honeymoon! The price range of a shipboard wedding is just like one ashore--from a few hundred dollars to thousands. You will need to consult with a cruise travel agent, an independent wedding planner, or the cruise line's wedding department to select the best package for you.
