I am currently waiting to hear from the resort on whether my wedding date is confirmed in November 2016. Anyone else start the process of wedding planning at this resort for 2016? Let's share stories along our planning adventures!! Congrats everyone, and I look forward to hearing all your plans for your upcoming wedding at this gorgeous property.

Hello everyone! I am looking in getting married in November 2016. I am barely starting to plan it but there are so many places. What is a nice cheap resort in cabo that includes everything I need for my wedding? I'm planning on having about 50 guests. My budget is $10,000 do you think I can plan something nice with that amount? Has anyone gotten married in cabo. If so which resort and how much did you pay? My guests aren't planning on staying in the resort. They are staying in cheaper hotels. I am open to other ideas but I my dream wedding is on the beach. All I care about is the ceremony, music and food. Please help!

Hi ladies, I have been checking off a lot of things on my to-do list lately but one item that keeps coming up is the Grooms Gift the day of the wedding day. I am starting to write my letter to him but I'm trying to think of a fun gift. He loves, loves, loves watches so I'm thinking of going that route but I wanted to hear what you ladies are doing or have done. I know there are tons of threads but I wanted to hear more recent ideas and maybe inspire some of our newer brides out there! @@TinkerSofi @ @@calgarybride2015 @@Wafflesmom @@snswedding2016 @@beckys98

I didn't see a thread started for brides getting married at the Royalton Riviera Cancun in 2016/2017 so I figured I would start one! I figured this would be a great way for each other to compare notes, and answer each others questions. I'm just finalizing booking with Luxe Weddings and am planning on booking the Royalton Riviera Cancun for May 2017! I'm looking at either getting married on the beach, or the Sky Deck, followed by a reception at the Nautica Beach Bar, or directly on the beach! What are you guys doing??

Hi ladies! I just got back from doing site visits in Cancun over New Years and my fiance and I fell in LOVE with the Hyatt Ziva Cancun. I'd love to hear more from other ladies who are getting married there so we can share ideas, hear the pros/cons, and all have the best weddings possible! We'll likely be having around 130-140 guests. We're doing the rehearsal & rehearsal dinner on the beach. The wedding ceremony will be in the sky gazebo, cocktail hour on the Punta Vista Terrace, and reception in the ballroom. Would love to chat more with others booking their wedding here too! Best, Gwen

So I just realized there wasn't a dedicated Hyatt Ziva/Zilara Rose Hall thread. I wanted to share a few things with fellow brides since it is a relatively new resort. My wedding will be on April 23, 2017 at the Hyatt Ziva. I have attached the ceremony locations, packages and a picture I found online of a ceremony set up at the sky lounge. I have been asked about the resort a few times so I would love to share what I know with others who may be in the early stages! Hello Ladies! My fiance and I have our wedding planned for April 2016 at the Grand Sunset Princess in the Mayan Riviera. We have the beach wedding organized along with the "Chill Out Party" for a more private post celebration. The package they sent me includes some floral arrangements for me to choose from but I am so unsure of what to expect on the day of the wedding! I want a white bouquet that looks classy. I would love all the advice that I can get! Thank you!!

Hello, I am looking for feed back on using this hotel for our destination wedding in January 2018. We are having a difficult time receiving prices for reception options, and all that we have is the wedding package information which is quite vague Any help or advise would be great! Hello! I was wondering if anyone planned a farewell breakfast, lunch or brunch on the resort after the wedding. I'd like to do something to thank guests for coming to the wedding face to face but would like to avoid the cost of another formal event especially since we're staying at an all inclusive. I was thinking the buffet but my concern is that we'll likely be 30-35 people and I know that you can't get reservations at Now Larimar. I'd like everyone to be able to sit together. Has anyone come up with a creative solution? Thank you!

I’m finally doing it!!! I’ve been thinking about starting my thread weeks after joining this forum, but for a number of reasons I didn’t – fear of my thread not being interesting, lack of free time and what if someone didn’t like something I chose? Through communicating with the amazing ladies on this thread, I’ve learned that we are all here for the same purpose, and this is the most supportive group of women I have ever encountered. When I started planning #deecolwedding2016 (yes, that’s our hashtag ) I didn’t know what to do. All I knew was: Half of our guests will be flying from Toronto, half from the UK and possibly a few from New York, Florida, Nova Scotia, France, and Ireland We needed to find a location that wasn’t unrealistic in both distance and price for all of our guests to travel to We wanted our Canadian guests to pay between $1200-1400 I’m hoping that with this thread I will not only be able to keep myself organized and get great feedback from the community, but also to help any future brides who were confused in the beginning like me and maybe have some similarities to my story. So here we go… just over 7 ½ months to go: 225 days until we leave for Mexico and 232 days until we say I do! How We Met My girlfriend Victoria was having her 25th champagne birthday in Las Vegas in August 2011. On our first day we met a group of guys that were really cool we ended up hanging out with. On our second day, we went to the MGM Wet Republic pool party. These guys bought a cabana, booze, the works, so the day went on and the vodka was flowing... I had refused to go into the water because, well, not many people actually get out to use the washroom, and they’re drinking loads… you get it… Victoria decided she was going to have one of the guys throw me in the pool. So there I am, in this disgusting pool, wading my way out of it, and this gorgeous English accent beside me says “You look nice”. I turned to look at him and he was so handsome, I couldn’t believe it. We talked for a bit and then decided to exchange numbers and meet up later that night. I got back to my room with the girls and slighty slurry said “Guys, I just met my husband!”. Later that night, Colin showed up at Tryst nightclub (pic above) and we spent the rest of our holiday together. We had this instant connection. Saying goodbye was so hard, we both cried, it was like we have known each other for ever and were a couple. He said he’d call me when he landed back in the UK and I thought I’d never hear from him… “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. Well it didn’t. He called me the day he landed, and the day after, and we bbm’d all day and night inbetween calls. Then, 5 days after we met, we decided to go for it, neither of us wanted a long distance relationship but we decided we were just going to make it work, we had to. I booked a flight to London to visit for a week in October 2011, we went to Venice for a couple days in between and I met his family. He flew to Toronto one month later in December 2011 for my birthday and met my family. I applied for my UK visa and moved to London in February 2012. We lived there together for almost two years, Colin got permanent residency to Canada and we moved back in January 2014. The kicker – Colin was previously engaged. She cheated on him with his boss so obviously that ended. He had already booked his stag with a few of his friends in Vegas and with the wedding being called off, he asked his friends if they want to postpone it by a few months and go anyway. They postponed to that weekend in August 2011 that I was there. We had a magazine article written about us when we were in London and the story of how we met, the headline was “I Met My Girlfriend On My Stag-Do!” but the best part was that his ex saw it! haha The Proposal Colin and I always knew we would get married. But with moving back to Canada and trying to get permanent jobs, we also knew we had to wait. On November 28th, we had made reservations to go out for my birthday dinner (my Birthday is December 1st). That day Colin had called me to tell me he got a job offer! Obviously I was beyond thrilled and couldn’t wait for that evening, we had so much to celebrate! I did have a moment of “He got a job, is he proposing?” but decided to push it aside and enjoy the awesome night we had ahead of us. I bought some champagne on the way home and should of caught on when I suggested we have some but he said to wait until after dinner, I thought he was just being sensible. We had a delicious dinner and when we were leaving he asked if I wanted to go for a walk on the pier, we were in Port Credit in Mississauga and you can see the Toronto lights from there. Since it was almost December I said “ummm not really, it’s a bit cold” and he said “Trust me, I’ll make it worth your while”. My heart dropped into my stomach. OMG it’s happening. Once we hit the spot you can see the lights, he dropped to one knee and said “Will you be my wife?” I said a combination of “omg” “are you serious?” “holy sh**” and eventually “YES!” I called my mom and she cried like someone had been murdered. I called my dad and he already knew because Colin called him when he went to the washroom I’m really close with my Dad and he loves Col to pieces so this meant the world to me. We went to pick out my ring the next day and we had already invited a bunch of friends over for my birthday that night so it turned into a triple celebration! The Wedding – Why Destination? Along with always knowing we would be married, we also always knew we were going to have a destination wedding. All my friends and family are mostly in Canada, and all his side is mostly in England. We didn’t think it would be fair to ask just one side to travel, it just made the most sense to us. This way everyone gets a great vacation, our friends and families get to spend a week together getting to know each other and we get to spend time with the UK family we don’t get to see too often anymore. Deciding on a Resort, Travel Agents and Getting Pricing As most brides will tell you, this is one of the most stressful parts… Our first task was to figure out what resorts will cater to guests from both the UK and Canada and offer packages. Colin took the reins on this as he is in travel, and not that he gets any inside info or discounts, but he knows where to look. We decided on Riviera Maya, Mexico and narrowed our choices down to the Grand Sirenis (due to @calgarybride2015 thread and review – I still think she should get a commission from them) and the Grand Bahia Principe Coba. We gathered some quotes, from the airlines directly, travel agents and from Romantic Planet. So far the GBP was looking like less money for both the Canadians and Brits. I work part time for a marketing company making drinks and promoting brands etc, one weekend I was working at the Toronto Food & Drink Market and there was a bridal show going on in the next hall. One of the vendors from the show came to me on the Sunday and “needed a Caesar” well, I “needed to get in that show” so she handed me her exhibitors pass and off I went. I did a quick loop and a guy from Total Advantage Travel & Tours stopped me. I told him I was pretty much ready to book and he said he could beat the quote I got. So I thought ‘what do I have to lose’ and emailed him the next day. Their first quote for GBP was already $100 less than Romantic Planet and after going back and forth, doing a bit of price matching and $30 more being taken off the price … we were able to get a group rate through Total Advantage for $1259 pp with Air Canada. We made sure the London flights matched up and weren’t too expensive and secured our deal. To date we have 19 booked from Canada and 21 booked from the UK, 40 total including Col & I. We anticipate about 10 more to book, but I am beyond happy with our number, it’s more than I could have ever asked for and I can’t wait!!! We have decided on a legal ceremony, although it's a bit more hassle, we wanted to have everything done at once, and it will be worth it Engagement Photos We had these done on February 7th, 2015 in High Park, Toronto Save the Dates and Invitations The Save the Dates were sent out at the end of April once we secured our Canadian group rates and the UK flights were released and activated our wedding website. We sent our Invitations out Mid-May. We have all information available on our website including the RSVP, as we would have replies coming in from so many countries it saves us a bit of money as well. We update the pricing for the UK guests as often as possible on the travel page of the website. The final rsvp date will be January 31st, 2016. I have my dress, flowers, bridesmaid dresses and a couple other things on the go. I didn’t expect to be able to start this today so I will update the rest shortly

I noticed that the last thread for El Dorado Seaside Suites is a bit dated, so I thought I'd start a new one! I just booked an April 2016 wedding with the resort, and I'm so excited to start planning. We have about 60 people on the guest list, and it looks like most will be able to come! If anyone has tips for timing of the ceremony, cocktails (which are 2 hour packages), and reception (4hours), let me know! I have a 3:00 ceremony as of now, but I'm thinking about moving it back to 4:00 and just using one hour for cocktails. Happy planning!

It is now 6 months until our wedding so I think it’s about time I started my planning thread. Like many of the beautiful and helpful brides I’ve come to know from this site, I thought that starting a planning thread would not only get me organized but also give me valuable insight and advice from you all. How we met: In 2010 after ending a very long-term relationship with my ex-boyfriend, my friend kept encouraging me to sign up for online dating. I won’t lie to you and I was very skeptical about online dating and thought that there was no way I would even try it. After months of hearing her stories about how much fun she was having meeting new people and dating men she would never have met otherwise, I thought, what’s the harm in trying. So in December 2010, I created my online profile. I will admit that dating again was fun. I had no intention of getting into another relationship; I just wanted to meet new people. Well you know how they say that things happen when you’re not looking for it? Well in less than two weeks, I received a message from Derrick that just said, “Hi. How are you?” I thought that was a pretty lame message but I looked at his profile. I thought he was really cute so I messaged him back. We were messaging back and forth and soon enough, we agreed to meet for a date. We met at Starbucks. I figured it’s a safe place to meet in case he turned out to be a creep! LOL As soon as I saw him, I remember the sigh of relief, he looked like his profile pic, but was actually cuter in person. Despite the usual first date jitters, we had a great conversation and it felt natural. After Starbucks we went to watch a movie. I don’t know why we went to the movies considering we talked the whole time. By the end of the night, I knew that it was the best date I’ve ever had. After that date we basically saw each other every day and he would text me daily to see how my day was going. I knew that we had something special and what proved it was when he went to Vegas for his best friend’s bachelor party. It was 3 am and my phone rang, it was Derrick. I got worried since it was early in the morning. I picked up the phone and he was clearly drunk. Before I could get annoyed, he told me that he loved me and that he missed me. There he was in Vegas with his friends having fun, and he still thought of me. Right then and there, I knew he was a keeper. The proposal: As a bit of a background, Derrick had asked me before if I wouldn’t mind if he used a diamond his grandmother had gifted him to give to his future wife. I knew how close he was to his grandmother (she had passed away before I got the chance to meet her). So during a trip to Puerto Vallarta with his family in March 2014, his sister and I were walking the Malecon and they thought it would be fun to go to a jewellery store to try on engagement ring settings for me. I typically don’t wear rings so I didn’t know what setting would look nice on me, especially since my hands are small. I instantly fell in love with a halo setting. So when we got back to the resort, Derrick’s sister instantly tells him what we did, just to tease him and he got up and said, ok let’s buy it. LOL So to my surprise, we bought the ring. But before buying it, Derrick told me that even though I knew what my engagement ring looked like (minus the diamond), he would still keep the proposal a surprise since I wouldn’t know when he would do it. As you can imagine, he had fun with that. Being the jokester he is, we would go out, tie his shoes and look up at me to make it look like he was going to propose. It happened on June 30, 2014 during our annual fishing trip to Ucluelet, BC. The weekend started off normal with Derrick joking around about proposing. Jokes included writing down "ring" on our list of things to bring to the island and Derrick singing "put a ring on it". On the last day of our trip, Derrick suggested going for a walk to the beach after dinner and go beach combing. Derrick and I love to go beach combing anytime we're on Vancouver Island. I told Derrick that his mom and I saw a beach that morning when we walked the dogs along the lighthouse trail so we headed in that direction. As we walked to the trail, Derrick kept asking me to walk on his left side, closer to the road. I made fun of him, joking that my friend's husband always walked on the side closest to traffic to protect her, meanwhile Derrick wanted to use me as his shield. Apparently he had the ring box in his right pocket and didn't want me to see it. I should have clued in on this but still didn’t even think anything of it. As we got to the beginning of the trail and looked at the map, I pointed to where we saw the beach. Derrick said he didn't want to go to that beach since it would be crowded. He suggested we keep walking to find a nice new beach that wasn't full of tourists. As we walked along the trail, Derrick pointed down the cliff and said, "Let’s go over to that beach, no one's there". He suggested going down the cliff using these old ropes tied to trees. I told him he was crazy and there was no way I'd go down old ropes, only to die falling off the cliff! So we kept walking and he eventually found a better way to go to the beach. To get closer to the water we had to walk and balance on what seemed like miles of rocks. In my usual "positive" vibe, I grumbled and complained the whole way. I think Derrick's favourite line was, "we're beach combing here? You know what we'd find under these rocks, more (insert expletive) rocks!" He would just turn to me, smile and say, "This is what I love about you, your positivity" When we finally got to the water, I had to admit that the walk was worth it, the view was breathtaking. On top of that, we were the only ones there! We climbed over rocks as Derrick showed me starfish, sea anemones (or what I call sea enemies" and more rocks (lol). After looking around, we sat on a huge rock and just looked out towards the ocean and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I heard Derrick say, "Jer", and as I turned to face him, I saw him on one bended knee, holding a ring box and said, "Will you marry me?" I said "of course" and hugged and kissed him.

Hello Ladies! I have been recommended this wedding videographer in Riviera Maya and I HAVE to share it with you! His name is Santiago and he owns and runs Becker Wedding Films - http://www.bbweddingfilms.com I also have seen a lot of his work on his Facebook - BB Wedding Films His style is so beautiful and unique, the work he produces is much more than just an ordinary wedding video but more like a peace of art that really shows a couples love story, as you can tell, I am hooked!! It's definitely a great choice for people who are really into art and culture, he seems to capture this in every of his example videos. I have had excellent communication with Santiago these past couple of weeks and I am now in the process of securing my package with him (I am so excited!) His prices are not for budget brides as such but extremely reasonable and for whats included and at such high quality he really is worth every penny! I hope some of you girls get a chance to check him out and fall in love with his work as much as I have! Hanna

Hi Brides! I am looking for any help you may have for a great photographer in Punta Cana .. that is reasonably priced .. and when i say that .. i mean. . no more than $2000 for a decent package (7+ hours of coverage) .. i feel like when looking at the prices of photographers my budget is low .. but considering my wedding is costing $3000 alone .. i don't have much room left for the photographers! I am from Canada, and I hate that all these prices are in USD!! It kills me .. are there any photographers, other than Photo Phil, that charge in CAD?? I love Karina Jensen's style .. her prices aren't too bad .. but i just wanted to check and see if any brides found someone with the same style, but less $$

Weddings are full of touching and heartfelt times to share with the one you love as well as friends and family. They are especially moving when they involve different cultures and backgrounds. Here are some of the suggestions we have for planning a multi-cultural wedding full of inspirational traditions that will bring together cultures, backgrounds and religions into a party that is sure to be loved by all! Celebrate Diversity! Enjoy this time of planning! Work together to combine traditions in a diverse celebration that will be uniquely yours! Sharing your culture with your partner, understanding together and appreciating the different customs will give you a great start to a long and happy relationship together! 1.Be Daring with a Fashionable Fusion We hosted a Hindu wedding for a couple and the celebration lasted 3 days!!! We loved the professional henna artwork that the bride and her entire family wore on their hands and feet. In the Hindu culture, it is believed that henna enhances the beauty of the bride – and we definitely agree! 2.Wedding Party Customs Bring together traditions from each background for the wedding party. You can add small symbols that represent each culture on the bouquet or the boutonniere. Or have the wedding party arrive in a traditional fashion. In the Hindu wedding, the groom arrived to the wedding with his family and closest friends in an incredible parade that included traditional singing and dancing. The entrance represented the happiness the groom and his family felt toward the new bride. 3. Blending Ceremonial Traditions In Jewish weddings, the couple breaks a glass together to be reminded of the fragility of relationships. In the Filipino culture, they include a money dance. At our Hindu favorite, they included a Ganesh Puja ritual for good luck. Ganesh represented the destruction of all obstacles. It may not be feasible to include ALL of the traditions of both the bride’s culture and the groom’s culture – but pick the traditions that will be the most meaningful and respectful to you and your family. Most of all – have fun while you plan! Check out the images above for more ideas and inspiration! On Trend: Reciting Your Vows in a Different Language We have seen this displayed in two ways. One: recite the vows to you beloved in your first language. There’s something so special about saying your vows in the language of your heart and mind. You could also change it up and read the vows to your spouse in his/her language – this version takes a lot more practice! Tell Us: What is the most memorable tradition you have seen at a multi-cultural wedding?
