Who to send Save the Dates to?

Recommended Posts

Ladies, I need your help..

We are almost at our one year mark and we want to get our save the dates out as soon as I get them typed up and printed.. But I am wondering who all should we send them to?

I'm wanting to do Save the Dates with our pictures since a lot of his family members haven't gotten to meet me yet and vice versa. We are only inviting our close family and friends to our Destination Wedding because we assumed extended members may not want to or can't afford to travel. We do plan to invite everyone to an AHR (no dates, location, or plans have been made for this yet.) But we are wanting to send our Save the Dates to everyone in case some people mention they want to go to the DW.

How are you ladies wording your Save the Dates if you are having the same senario as me?

What are your suggestions on whom to invite?

We are sending save the dates to everyone.  Like you, we're sure many people who get them won't be going, but I think it's nice for them to get the announcement so they can feel included.  And they'll have a nice picture of you and FI! :)  We'll also be inviting everyone to our AHR, which we mention on our wedding website so everyone knows that even if they can't make it to Jamaica we'd love for them to join us at a party when we get home.

Ahh, perfect!! I def want everyone to feel included. I have added or will have added everyone to our Wedding Website so if some happen to go on and RSVP to the wedding, I guess we'll make them a invite (passport) and make sure they get it.

I just really hate to send our official invites to everyone, since they are soo time consuming.

what type of Save the Dates are you planning on doing?

When do you plan to have your AHR and when are you going to send invites?  I was thinking we should have it on our 1 month mark which will be a Saturday and send invites and RSVPs maybe a month or two before we leave.

So far I have only included an AHR RSVP.. I guess I should go create an AHR tab and just say Details to follow or something so that when we send our STD people will see we are planning on having an AHR.

We are doing a postcard-sized photo save the date, so they were relatively cheap/easy to print a lot of.

I haven't gotten around to thinking about the AHR just yet, but I like your idea of one month anniversary and sending invites out before you leave for the wedding.  Right now I'm thinking of just a digital invite for the AHR though.  I figure by the time it rolls around I'll be too exhausted from the STD and official invites that came before it to do something official! :)

That sounds like a good idea!.. Are you going to have them printed or print them yourself?

lol... I completely understand!.. I'm doing passport invites.. I think I finally have my finished my rough draft. :o) I'm soo ready to get these things printed and ready to go.

For AHR I will do something very simple. Or knowing me, I'll come up with a big project.. :-/ I'm seriously thinking Vistaprint will be what I decide on those!.. lol..  But I def want to send them before the wedding so everyone will have their RSVP in our mailbox for when we return or RSVP via our site.

I would love to do a digital invite but I dont know anyones email.. Facebook invite, maybe?...

We also did a postcard STD for friends and family recognizing that many will not be able to attend...I borrowed some words from different STDs I saw online and came up with this for wording, feel free to use as you'd like:)

DEAR FRIENDS & FAMILY

We are getting married!  The wedding festivities will be at Now Jade in sunny Riviera Maya, Mexico, on Saturday, February 9, 2013.

We realize that due to distance and cost, some of you may not be able to attend.  While we would be delighted to have you all come celebrate with us, we understand and respect your decision if you cannot make it.  After our return, we will host an at-home reception - formal invitations will follow at a later date.  Visit our wedding website à for more information regarding travel arrangements and to RSVP if you are interested in joining us.

We are extremely excited and look forward to sharing our special day with you!

* We used the wedding website address vertically to separate the info from the address section on the back of our postcard that's why there is an arrow (it points to the website address).
