I'm officially a DIY-aholic.  This project was inspired by another BDW bride - melmed and her find on style me pretty.

I loved the idea but thought lugging all those tiles to the Bahamas might get a little heavy.  I marked the project so I can use it in the future as housewarming gifts.  A few weeks later I'm at an art festival and see vendors with similar products - they have the coasters using travertine and photos of Atlanta landmarks.  They also have smaller tiles that look the same but were refrigerator magnets.  So i decided that's what I'm going to do.

I bought 1 square foot mosaic travertine tile at Home Depot for just under $6.  It consists of 36 2"x 2" tiles on a mesh backing.  I pulled off the mesh backing which came off very easily and cleaned off all the tiles.  It's listed as $7.97 but mine rung up at $5.88.

At Michael's I bought a bottle of Mod Podge, a foam brush, glue and magnets.  The magnets have to be heavy duty to support the weight of the tile - I bought a roll that was 1 inch wide and 10 feet long (don't need that much but they didn't have anything smaller) and cut pieces to fit.  They come with a sticky back but I glued them because I didn't want to take any chances.

In Word I created a template for pictures - I made them just under 2x2 so they would fit nicely.  I found some pictures of the resort on-line and used 2 of my favorites and wrote the name underneath.  I cut them with my handy dandy rotary cutter and rounded the edges with my corner punch.  After that I followed the instructions on Style me Pretty except I didn't seal them since they wouldn't be exposed to moisture like coasters.

Here is the finished product - I'll have one of each in the OOT bags.  I also attached the template.
