Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am getting married on the beach :) cant wait!!

I have some stunning heels for afters but am trying to find some cute ivory flip flops for the ceremony.  I would consider barefoot but am nervous the sand will be too hot!

Saw some cute ones on etsy but not sure.  Has anyone DIYed this style? -

eg these ones -

Those are CUTE! Those look like Old Navy flip flops with ribbon or something on the straps!! Ooooh... my brain gears are working now, I bet I could make those! lol I bought Old Navy flip flops for my daughters and I to wear, but if I could do this somehow, that would be a little dressier and a little nicer!

I am wearing flip flops as well, I haven't really started looking yet but I bet you could make those easily, they look like a generic flip flop. For me I am going pretty plain but you could also put jewels or something on them to dress them up.

I played with this a little, this is what I came up with so far :

I just had a wee bit of 5/8" satin ribbon on hand (teal), and a length of thinner ribbon (peach), I think it's 3/8". I am not sure which one I like better, they both look really pretty!

Easy to do, no special skills required (crochet, etc), just wrap it around, up from the bottom, wrap the ends around themselves and back down and around. I'm going to run to the fabric store and pick up some ivory ribbon to match the flip flop and try it again to see if I can get it to blend it more, but I'm liking how it's turning out so far! It's not as "puffy" as it looks in the Etsy picture, so it's most likely a different technique, but I still think it's working. Add some rhinestones or flowers and voila. :o)

Ok, so because i am really short i wanted to find a wedge flip flop with some height.

I have been looking for a while and recently saw they have a nice ivory pair on the David's Bridal site (but they only sell them in store).

They are called "sprinkle" and the best thing is that they only cost $25.  I have been calling the store closest to me every week trying to find them (s9nce they are new).

Everything else i found on the web for a similar flip flop was about $50.  i cant see paying that much for a pair of flip flops i am not going to wear again.

Victoria's secret has a cute 3.5 inch wedge flip flop in white for those of you looking to find something with a height closer to heels. They are the Colin Stuart Glitter Flip Flop on sale 2 for $30. I'm adding a rhinestone shoe clip to give them a little more bling :) They are super soft and comfy!

I've happily settled on these for my beach shoes- but am still struggling with my ceremony shoes. Bought the Badgley Mischka hyde style in white and they are gorgeous but oh-so much higher than I anticipated... Not sure where to go from here :(
