Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

How have the wedding plans been coming along?  We visited the hotel in January, liked it and have started planning to return January 2012 for our wedding.  We have tried to contact the wedding co-ordinator, Marlene but she has not responded to any of our emails (it has been a few weeks).  I am starting to get a bit worried.

Also how willing are they to work with you on what and where at the resort you want your wedding?  Are you having many people and are they easy to accomodate that if so?

We stayed at this resort this past January and loved it so much that we are now in the process of booking our wedding there for January 2012.   Can you please advise how your contact with the wedding advisor has been and whether they have been acocmodating.  We have not been successful in communicating with teh wedding co-ordinator, Marlene, my emails have yet to be answered which scares me a little as it has been a few weeks.

Do you have many guests and how accomodating are they to change their plans or packages?  Any experiences, advice or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

I am also planning my wedding at the Palace Deluxe and was going to be doing January 2012 as well, but just so you know I found out that the day we wanted, Jan 21st is a Holiday there and they take it very seriously.  So we have now moved our date to March 3rd.  You may want to have a travel agent help you with communicating with them.  I feel like it is alot more helpful and less stressful with our travel agents help.

I am new to the forum.  I am considering having a wedding at this location.  Due to family and friends attending our ceremony I am concern about the price of the rooms and quality of the food.  How much did you pay for the rooms on a group rate? Also in which rooms did your guest stay?  How was the food?

What wedding package did you go with?  Were you please with the wedding and reception decoration? Did you add extras?  How was the reception and the quality of the food?  Any information you could provide me would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm new to this site and am considering having my wedding in September 2012 at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe. Any details about how your wedding went, the wedding coordinator and your guests experience in general would be greatly appreciated. I haven't really been able to find any information about weddings there.

Thanks

Hi ladies,

My fiance and I were just down in Punta Cana this past weekend for a quick wedding site visit.  We checked out a bunch of resorts and Barcelo Bavaro was by far our fave!

Marlene was super friendly and knowledgeable.  We are really excited at the prospect of working with her.  We are hoping to get married sometime next April/May and are waiting to hear back from her on dates.

Our biggest issue was how we can get a good rate for our guests.  Marlene seemed to think that we wouldn't be able to get a block of rooms set aside at a discounted rate, and that we'd have to check with a travel agent.  Can anyone who is in the official planning process or has had their wedding here confirm this or share how you went about it?

Thanks!!

You should be able to get a discounted rate through your travel agent. I had my travel agent look at a variety of hotels and Barcelo came out to be the least expensive..we got it at $356 per person for a 3 night/4 day stay. Definitely talk to your travel agent, they have group rates and will be able to block a number of rooms for you.

What other hotels did you visit, if you don't mind my asking?

Hi Ladies,

This is also my resort of preference... I am a 2013 bride to be... so I do have some time. But there are several Barcelo resorts - if anyone has information on Barcelo Bavaro Palace please post as no one is giving us 2013 brides priority... being that it's still a "long time from now" for many.

Happy Planning!!

JRM, thanks for the info! We also visited Dreams Palm Beach, Iberostar (which we also liked but have a feeling it would be expensive for our guests), Majestic Elegance, and Ocean Blue and Sand. We stayed at the Grand Palladium Palace and also visited Kukua and Jellyfish restaurants (liked both). This is probably an ignorant statement, but I didn't realize travel agents were still relevant, but I guess this is a situation in which they are still valuable. Do you have to pay them a commission? Eva, their website has a weddings section that has a lot of info, the same info Marlene gave us at our visit. For the most part, she is also pretty good at replying to emails if you want to start contacting her directly (not sure if you have set a date or just have intentions of a 2013 wedding there).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
