Just the two of us???

Hi everyone!

So initially my fiance and I decided on a small destination wedding- but after all the drama of some family members being upset they weren't invited and budget issues, we no longer have guests. My fiance and I have decided to go along with our plan of a destination wedding but now it will only be the two of us! We are now planning on a AHR on our return. I have looked all over the site and kind find any other brides in my boat...is there anyone out there? What are your thoughts/suggestions?

I think that is perfectly Fine to be just the two of you. I was going to go with that same idea and have a huge AHR but....some of my friends and family really want to be there and so it will still be small (25 guests) and it will be more intimate. I wont have and BM or GM or anything like that... I think it will still be beautiful. It sux that our family have such influences on some of our decisions, but you have to think about it in a kind of selfish way....it is YOUR DAY! who ever can come will come and if noone shows GREAT! it is about you and FI anyways. I think it will be soooo sweet and romantic! besides you wont have to plan any "GROUP EXCURSIONS" or any of that junk and it will be a little intimate getaway for you guys! Good Luck with planning! it will be fun. Don't even worry too much about it.

Aww...thank you! I initially did feel selfish that it was just both of us but in the end I don't want to look back wishing we had listened to our hearts with a DW.

I say Go FOR IT!

I say if thats what the two of you want go for it. Because people will never be happy when it comes to a wedding. I know some people who have had at home weddings and people still ar emad years later because of something petty and really dont matter. So no matter what you will make people mad so at the end of the day its about you and your FI.

You can't please everybody. What people fail to realize is it's not THEIR wedding!!! If you want a DW then DO IT!!! Then take your pics....it's usually just the bride and groom in the most important photos anyway! Do what makes YOU happy!! Go...have fun!!!

I agree with the other ladies. Do what feels right for you. Sometimes other people are the ones that are selfish in their thinking, putting their wants and wishes before the couples. If it is your dream to have a destination wedding then do it. With just the both of you, it will be your wedding and honeymoon all in one. You wont have to worry about other guests cramping your style or interrupting your alone time. Enjoy it, and when you get back you will have the AHR that everyone can attend. I say go for it!

Do what you got to do! I wish I had the courage some of you have. I want to just say... "I mean this as respectful as possible, but these decisions need to be ours as it is our wedding" but I live with my in laws and I really don't want to be kicked out! Since you have the guts, go for it! Have fun you kids!

I say go for it. It will be fun. I wanted to do the same, but FH did not, so our wedding will still be small, I hope=)
