Ohh. I think that would be pretty risky and probably not worth the cost.

If we do OOT bags, the stuff will definitely get packed in our luggage. I'm slightly worried about this. We get two checked bags for free (and carry on of course) but we're going to be gone for two weeks and I want to carry my dress on. So, i'm limited to two bags and I keep thinking about all the stuff I potentially have to take with me. Then I remember that my fiance will have two bags as well. We should be able to get our clothes in one each and then could use two bags for wedding things if needed. Then it's no problem. Check with your airline, it might not really be too much of a hassle to just take them.

I've talked to my TA about it and she said she has priced out shipping stuff before and it is more expensive and not as reliable as checking a bag on the plane. From what I've read on the forum the consensus is not to ship.

I plan on bringing my stuff down in Rubbermaid containers and leave whatever I can there.

I priced our shipping a box of towels to the DR and it was $250. Crazy....

I'm in the process of packing right now and I really wish I had the sense to give people the bags before they left as a way to get them excited and give them all the information that they need. It would have been A LOT easier.

Right now for bags I have

2 Checked bags/wedding dress carry on/personal item jam packed

DH has 1 checked/1 carry on

I'm giving my mom and her guest 2 carry ons and her suitcase is half full of wedding stuff

I just gave 2 bridesmaids stuff to pack in their suitcase....this is craziness!!!

And can I say almost my entire suitcase is wedding stuff...I barely have room for my clothes. I hope everyone LOVESSSS these OOT bags let me tell you.

I plan to bring down 50 beach towels so I'm going to buy Vacuum Seal Storage Bags to make room for everything in the suitcases :)
This is a totally awesome idea! I have 50 towels as well! You are a life saver!

Well... as someone that is actually going through the process RIGHT NOW... I would say don't ship anything. I shipped 6 boxes of stuff, yep, 6 boxes... I have 50 welcome bags and all of my soon to be MIL's stuff for the welcome dinner. Towels go through fine - if you want to ship anything at all send a box full of towels. We FEDEX'd everything and it has been a bit of a nightmare. Today I have gotten word that they are releasing all but 1 box - thank goodness. The things that hold stuff up would be: Sunscreen (I had 36 bottles); koozies (because they were made from a silicone type of material, go figure?); and the big kicker are SHELLS. They will not release this box because of the shells. Soooooo there you go.... and yes, we paid way too much to have all of this done. Also, most airlines will let you carry on your wedding dress without it counting as a carry on. So, that might help some of you. Keep your fingers crossed that all my boxes make it there...... ughhhhhhhhhhh :)
