Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hello all...

For those of you looking for a resort the Dreams Resorts are opening a brand new Dreams in the Riviera Cancun area. It is a 5-star luxury family resort approx 20 minutes from the Cancun airport and conveniently located between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. The scheduled opening date is October 2009 and apparently they are on track for opening on time.

Here is the website link for the new resort

The planning process has been a bit teadiuous up to this point but this should change very soon. So, if you have been trying to get info from the WC please try to read through our posts or post your own question because the WC(s) is/are flat out busy (poor Claudia & Cecelia). Currently Dreams is using the WC from the Dreams Cancun location to help out with the weddings at Dreams Riviera Cancun (DRC). It may take some time in receiving a reply on emails so be patient and like I said, use us here as a resource tool; it is likely we are all asking the same questions.

There are a few of us that have booked our wedding dates so let's introduce ourselves and share our wedding dates.

Please feel free to send a PM or post your date directly to the thread and I will do my best to keep it updated.

Who are you and what is your wedding date?

Congrats Jennifer! Are you getting excited? Any plans to do a site visit once it is open? Also, were you one of the people able to defer the deposit until the resort is open while still reserving your wedding date? I have sent an email to Claudia but waiting to hear (I know she is incredibly busy so I am being patient).

I just spoke with Cecelia (Claudia is out of the office until Monday I have been told) and I confirmed June 19, 2009!!! What time are the rest of you having your ceremony. The sunsets in June around 7:30 so I picked 6:00 for my ceremony (I want to make sure I have the best light for the pictures).

Other than the basis price list I have not received any other information. I have learned that in about 2 weeks pictures of the wedding gazebo and reception loactions will be available!!! I am sure the rest of you are as excited as I am about this, although I am certain it will be AMAZING!!!

Right now I am trying to decide about group rates. Did anyone set something up through the resort or are you using private TAs?

Thanks RCBlondie! Congrats to you too! I am very excited! I will be visiting during Thanksgiving and hopefully will also get to meet with the wedding coordinator while I am down. I am really excited for that visit! Are you doing a site visit at all?

We actually just sent in our payment via bank check. I just wanted to get it taken care of and cross that off of the list.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
