Did you meet your fiance online?

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I met online which a lot of people think is weird when we tell them. We met online at BlackPlanet.com and chatted for a month before we even talked on the phone and met. Chatting online for a month helped us just ask each other questions and get a lot of things out in the open. We finally met for dinner in July 2006 at Cheddar's and took things slow. We didn't rush anything either and have been going strong ever since. We finally got engaged in August 2008!!!

Meeting online is becoming more popular these days with websites like eharmony and I think it can be a valuable tool for a lot of people. I never went out a lot so meeting online was right up my alley. The internet can work for some as long as things are not rushed!

Tom and I did not ... but one of his close friends and frat brother from college just got married to an AMAZING woman who I now also consider a friend ... and they met on eHarmony.com -- talked about it during the ceremony and reception and actually are ploying to be in an eHarmony commercial. They are so cute, I never believed in that stuff .... but they are a PERFECT couple!!!!

Also, he is Jewish and she converted before he even proposed b/c she knew she wanted to spend her life with him! That's love, baby!

technically, yes.

we are both in mummers string bands (it's a philly thing) and he spotted me out at a party another band was having. he kinda asked around about me and who i was, and managed to get the screen name i used on a mummers online forum. he made a post that i "was hot" and "we should get together" LOL.

i totally thought it was a joke, but responded anyway, and we started to IM each other outside of the forum. we finally met in person about two months later at a different mummers function. he's 9 years younger than me, so i didn't really give him the time of day for awhile.

3 months later, i decided to forget the age difference and give it a chance.

anyway, meeting online can definitely work. sure, lots of guys are just out for one thing, and ladies need to be careful with meetups, but there are definitely a few good ones out there. i know because i got one!

4 years ago now a friend of mine told me to go on findsomeone.com and as I joke I put up my profile and came across my hubby to be. We went to the same school (a few years apart) then we just started talking and clicked really well. After a week of chatting on the net and talking on the phone we feel in love.

Im so happy... I went on that silly site.

I am proud to say that I met my fiance in an AOL chatroom in 1999!! msnwink.gif

After we met online, we chatted every now and then, but he would mostly work my last nerve, lol. Then I changed my screename, and ironically he did too, so we lost contact. But about a month later, fate allowed us to meet up again in another AOL chatroom :) The internet instant messages continued with several heated sports discussions involved, hehe.

And, after spending about 4 months talking online, we finally began talking on the phone and eventually met in person. The day after our first in-person meeting, I left to Cancun for a family vacation. It was my first time in Cancun and while I had a blast, I could not stop thinking about the boy known as WuJuniorX. blush2.gif

When I returned, we met up again and watched the South Park movie together ~ yes so totally unromantic but we could not stop laughing and had the best time. rofl.gif That night, he finally kissed me and I have been kissing those wonderful lips ever since cheesy.gif

Our wedding on June 26, 2009, will mark the 10th year anniversary of our first date in person and to make it even more special, we will be getting married in Akumal, which is just 90 minutes from Cancun. My life has truly come full circle, and I can't imagine my life without my wonderful DH.

Love works in such funny ways, and for the rest of my days I will always be grateful to the AOL chatrooms that brought love my way . . . bride.gif
