Paradisus Punta Cana Resort All Inclusive
My husband and I booked our wedding at Paradisus Punta Cana on May 9, 2011, staying May 5-12. When we arrived the first thing we noticed was how beautiful the lobby was. Check in was a bit slow, there were a couple new staff that were training and some rude people kept butting in. My whole group was in the regular part of the resort and we were upgraded to the Reserve which we appreciated. All the rooms were very well appointed and everyone was raving on how great their room was! We found out later on in the week that being in building 19 would give you extra service with chips and a chocolate bar in the mini fridge which was restocked daily. It was also right beside the beach. If you can, request to have your room in building 19!
Maid service was a bit spotty, sometimes our minibar wasn't restocked, some maids were better than others, and in the 7 nights we stayed there we only received the turndown service three times. Also, the turndown service that was promised to us on our wedding night never happened. Even when my husband asked the front desk staff if there was anything they could do, they said they couldn't do anything. My husband and one of the groomsmen actually went and picked a bunch of flowers and decorated the room for us.
The Reserve was very beautiful and service was excellent in this part of the resort. The only drawback was that it was so far away from our family and friends and the beach since it was a new addition to the existing resort. They do have shuttles that go every 25 minutes and sometimes concierge will call and get a private one for you but most of the time we ended up walking which is about 10 minutes.
The restaurants are most of the time very good. The majority of us did not enjoy the seafood restaurtant Luna but we did not have any issues with the others. The best ones were the Italian restaurant, El Romantico and the restaurant exclusively for people staying in the Reserve. There was definately a lot of choice and we did not get to all of the restaurants. The Japanese restaurant was closed while we were there as they were getting the air conditioning fixed which we were a bit dissappointed about.
The nightlife is mostly around the lobby bar and at the club located in the lobby area as well. The shows were just ok, but the live entertainment after was great. The club was pretty fun most nights but the sound was just too loud, we would always go to bed with our ears ringing. My sisters found a party on the beach at the next resort over one night and were able to have fun there. This is something Paradisus was missing is some variety in entertainment.
Our wedding planner Sharlin Olivio was great! We met with her the day after we arrived and went over all the details. She showed us the locations of the wedding, cocktail reception and reception and finished up little details. We had brought our own centerpieces and fans and she gladly accepted them and agreed to set them out for us. The actual wedding day went of without a hitch and everything was beautiful! We had the Chill Out Chic 2011 package with the grill buffet. Our wedding was on the beach, our cocktail hour and reception was at the Reserve beach. The food was very good and service was great. We had to get the laterns as it was dark when we had our reception and they added so much ambience so they were very worth it! After the reception we partied it up at the club which was fun! Like I said before, the only thing that didn't happen that was supposed to was the turn down service on our wedding night which wasn't such a big deal but would have been the perfect ending.
In closing, I think this is a perfect resort to get married at! There is the perfect blend of a party atmosphere and relaxation. All the guests had a blast and were wanting to stay longer. You wont be disappointed booking your wedding at Paradisus Punta Cana!!
