Pros: Wedding coordinator, atmosphere, beach is amazing, food, handle large groups well
Cons: Front desk staff aren't my favorite
Hi everyone!

My new hubby and I just got back Friday from Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana...and it was truly was everything we hoped for and more.

If you are able to book the Elegance Club its worth the money for the upgrade. Not only did we get a private pool, bars and area on the beach but we had access to our own club lounge with free internet access. They were also sweet about getting us a golf cart when we had to haul from the elegance club to the spa (opposite ends of the complex) when we were late for our spa appointment! I should note for those of you who did not book Elegance Club and expect to get upgraded to it....they are often booked and you don't have a large chance of it (this coming from one of the employees we talked to at one point). We are glad to have booked the EC and not taken than chance.

We had the gazebo ceremony with 54 family and friends + us. Lisa was our coordinator and was beyond amazing. She is warm, friendly and very organized. She was involved all the way and took the burden off of us completely. We had Diego from Bright Light do our video and he was professional, fun and very talented. My whole family and all of our friends were thrilled with how the video turned out. I highly recommend him....especially since I am formally trained as a graphic designer and I was a bit worried it would be cheesy somehow. Not the case at all. He got us and our style completely. We brought a friend of mine who is a professional photographer from home to do our photographs. She's killer....and she knows it. Thanks Nina :)

We rented the Parrots Bar and our crazy fun group had a non stop dance session for hours with DJ Mannia. Well worth the money. They made the party with our own song lists and great songs mixed in.

My hair at the spa was perfection, the bouquet was the same.

Everything we did was worth the money and I would not have changed a thing!

Feel free to email me with questions!!!

Thank you for posting this review! It makes me even more confident in my decision to have our wedding there next year.

What kind of room at the Club did you stay in? There seems to be a few different options. Also, did you do the decoration package for the gazebo or the reception?

Thanks!

We had a swim up suite (part of my parents gift to us for the upgrade). My mom owns a travel agency so we traveled a lot growing up and I can honestly say from my own experiences at fantastic resorts that this was one of the best I've been to. If people complained then they are the type to complain about anything in life. I am very organized myself and getting married in another country means letting certain things go. Nothing is ever perfect but this was sure close!

As for the decor packages, I did not do any of them. We brought our own decor in an extra suitcase. Best decision, they were the colors I wanted and I knew they would set it up beautifully.

I bought from www.efavormart.com for my table runners and chair sashes.

Also www.save-on-crafts.com for my preserved flowers and floating candles.

Check retailmenot.com for coupons for the place you choose for vendors!

Hope that helps!!!

Hello, Thanks for posting your review. It has been very helpful. We are planning our wedding for next spring, and I just had a couple of questions if you didnt mind. I was wondering about renting the Parrots Bar . If you didn't mind, how much was it about? How long were you able to stay there that evening? Was there anyone else there or just your wedding guest? Everything sounds great there. I am just a little nervous. Thanks!

Hi Amanda! The Parrots Bar came with a rental fee of $300 for 3 hours. We did 8-11pm....but it ended up going until about 11:20 or so. Afterwards about 3/4 of the wedding guests went to the Disco (it opens up at 11, which was perfect). No one else was there in that area besides our wedding guests. Its fairly private since its right by the pool and not right near the lobby, so there are no strangers walking in. People can walk by the path and see the party going on but you can tell right away that its not open to the public.

I was nervous about that stuff too, but the staff is really beyond great. Have fun planning, I wish I could have that day over and over again!!! Enjoy it all!

Let me know if you have any other Q's!

Hi there! Sounds like a reallt great time! Congratulations! I;m getting married at the Majestic Elegance on Feb 1, 2012 at 6pm at the gazebo. I havent' decided on whether or not to rent out the parrot bar or not and if so, for what time. Our wedding reception is at 6pm and we're hoping to get a photographer for an hour afterward, and dinner reservations are at 8pm. What time would you rent it out for and do you think we made dinner plans too late?

Hi, so your reception is at 6pm before your dinner? Or did you mean your actual wedding ceremony was at 6 with 8pm dinner? If the ladder is the case, then 6pm ceremony/8pm dinner should be fine. Keep in mind if you want to have a reception at Parrots after you rent out the area for 3 hours ($300 for the 3 hrs), and they close the area at 11pm. Our family and friends love to party so 8-11pm was great for us, but if your family is more chill, 8pm dinner should be ok without a reception, unless they let you do your reception for 3 hours 9-12?

Hello and congrats! I'm thinking of having my wedding here as well. Does your photographer have a site where we can check out the pictures? Would love to see how they set up the ceremony and reception for you. Thanks a ton!

Sorry, she is a professional photographer but does not do weddings normally, they are not on a public site. Hopefully others have options to see theirs. Good luck with everything!!!

Did you and your bridal party get your hair/make-up done @ the spa? If so, where you happy with the outcome.. any other details you can share would be awesome. Tks

SO happy to hear you had a great wedding! Do you have any pictures of the layout of the Parrot's Bar? I'm trying to get an idea of how it's laid out so I can fix my seating chart. Thanks ahead of time!

NatandCarlos, sorry for the delay. I did not get a notice about your questions. I believe it was $850 or $900 for DJ Mannia for 3 hours. Hair done at spa, no makeup (a friend did mine). I was happy with it, photo's helped. If you know someone that speaks Spanish it may help to bring them along, or ask a concierge for help. My hair dresser did not speak English so it was hard to communicate area's I wanted fixed etc. Very happy though!

Sorry I have no photo's of the layout of the Parrots Bar. The chairs were done around the outside of the gazebo, inside was where the father/daughter etc dances were. We had 56 people and 6 or 7 circular tables out there. We had no seating chart and feel that it worked very well for us.

Hello all, congratulations of your weddings and upcoming weddings as Majestic Elegance (ME). I am getting married at ME on December 14th 2012 at 2 pm. I am planning on doing pictures after the ceremony and then dinner and a reception. I have a few questions that I am hoping someone can help me with.

I am worried my ceremony time may be too early as dinner is not until 6:30.

how long does it take for pictures? I am guessing .5 to .75 hrs for ceremony, .5 to .75 for a champaign toast after ceremony, and maybe 2 hrs max for pictures?

That would bring us to 5:30 at the latest with an hour + to kill before the dinner. Is my timing right? Wondering if I should move the wedding time later in the day?

Also I am considering either

1. Having a private dinner and reception at the parrot bar,

2. Having a private dinner and reception at the See & Sea, or

3. Having a semi private dinner at either the steak house or Sea and See and reception to follow (parrot bar or sea and see)

My wedding party will be around 30 people and my questions are. If I decided to have my reception at the See and Sea would it feel empty as my group is not that big?

If I went with the parrot bar for dinner and reception, is the parrot bar and actual building with a bar and a bathroom? Or is it just a gazebo with a satellite bar? Has anyone had the private dinner at the parrot bar; if so, what was it like?

I have been noticing that most people chose the stone gazebo as their ceremony spot. Did anyone get married on the beach? I am debating which location. Can anyone help me with pro’s and con’s of each location?

Does anyone have pictures of reception at parrot bar, See & Sea or Steak house?

Thank you all in advance for your help!!!

My wedding was @4pm and dinner was 6:30 but did not start until 7 or so. If you could move from 2pm to 3pm I would do so, if not...don't sweat it. Better to have more time for photo's and to relax/freshen up than feeling rushed. Our ceremony was 45 minutes max. We then walked down to the beach for photos with our 54 family and friends. Those photo's took about 50-55 minutes or so, then everyone left and we did our couples photo's for about an hour. We did freshen up for a minute in our room but did feel rushed to run to the dinner to meet everyone. So the more time the better!

Private dinner @ Parrots or See and Sea is great either way. See and Sea would not feel empty, they section off a private area for you and your party. Parrots Bar is a bar with outdoor seating/tables setup. There are restrooms nearby but guests walk back towards the lobby to use them, takes all of 5 min there and back.

Pro's of the gazebo for us was it was partly shaded so guests weren't melting. We also had fans instead of programs so they were put to good use. The other big one was it was private. With the beach, it is public...so every Tom and Suzie can watch while in their bathing suits. Its gorgeous still I'm sure, but less private...which is not what we wanted. You also have to think about how casual you want it. People take off their shoes for the beach wedding whereas the gazebo seems a bit more formal to me (still be beachy though!)

If you want some of my photo's, private msg me your email address!

I hope I was helpful :)

My wedding is Jan 26, 2013 and I plan on having a 5pm gazebo wedding (I want to wear heels) and I have about 53 guests attending. I am thinking of having a similar setup as you.

After the ceremony, photos

Semi private dinner at one of the restaurants

Private reception, following dinner

My question is, what is the best time to do speeches and cutting of the cake? At dinner or the reception?

Did you have an open bar?

When did you do your first dance?

We did speeches during the dinner and it was perfect. Right after the 2nd course. Cutting the cake we did at the reception. Nice little break for guests and it was the only food served at the reception, so several hours passed before they had the cake, which was their 2nd dessert.

Open bar- yes. We did a package of wine, beer, soda per person. We did the first dance towards the beginning of the reception before cake and before the DJ started with the party music. Right after the party was announced and we entered, within a few minutes we started with our first dance, father/daughter and then the mother/son dance.

Good luck!

Hi Ladies,

I am defintely having dinner at the Sea & See. As far as introductions for the bridal party, what do you think is best?

I want to be introduced before the dinner. Do they allow mics in the restaurant? Is there soft music playing during the meal? Were you introduced again during the reception and then just went right into the first dance?
