Royal Decameron Costa Flamingos All Inclusive
Our wedding was on March 30th 2011 at the Royal Decameron. We flew from Vancouver BC March 26-April 2 through Noli Tours. Our travel agent company was Marlin Travel and we received some really nice extras like option plus which allowed us to check in ahead of everyone, pick seats on the plane for free, extra weight in our bags, free wine, champagne and baileys on the plane, free comfort package with blanket, ear phones etc. The hotel is located in Bucerias which is a beautiful town about 30 minutes away from down town PV. The culture, art and beach are all amazing.
Resort Overview B+: Very beautiful grounds. There are 6 building blocks and it holds around 1,000 people. This resort is widely known as a the Royal DeCanadian, lol. Rooms are basic but very clean and spacious. No tub or mini fridge/bar just bottle water left in your room each day. There are 5 pools, lots of palapas at the beach and plenty of restuarants/buffets to choose from.
Wedding Coordinator A: Karen is the wedding coordinator and she was amazing. The emails before the trip were not as quick as I may have liked but she made up for everything when we got there and met in person. She is so enthusiastic about her job which made us feel so comfortable. We met with her about 2-3 times for 3 hours in total and she pulled off a wonderful wedding for us. The basic package is including if you have so many rooms booked, and they have contracts with a photographer, DJ etc if you wish to purchase extras. It also included a free 25 minute massage for both of us and a romantic dinner on the beach a few days after your wedding. They had a cook on the beach with a portable cook station and our own waiter. It was amazing, good steak and nice wine, seemed better then the food at the resort or most of it.
Spa B+: 5 people got their hair done for the wedding and I got my hair and make up done with no trial. The booking process was a little difficult as only 1 lady in the spa spoke english and they wanted us all their to look at our hair and look at their pictures to decide what we wanted, however the job they did was great. Everyone was happy with their service. My hair did relax quite a bit with the humidity, however I was okay with it.
Wedding Ceremony A+: They ceremony was at 6pm on the beach. They hard packed the sand, had a white tent set up, I brought the orange chair sashes and actually left them with the wedding coordinator to use for other weddings as they only have silver bow sashes that I did not like. They had greenery down the side of the isle, an isle runner, just perfect. If I had more time/money I probably would have decorated the tent with more color. We were legally married before and wrote our own vows which they read and did a pretty good job, however some funny parts with their accent and they way they pronounced things.
Reception B: The reception was in the Tropical Garden and the set up was perfect lots of space and an amazing view of the ocean. However the food was not great and the sparkling wine was not great either. We ordered the hand painted maracas from Mishka Designs and the guests loved them!
Photographer A+: Popo in the photographer they contract with and he was soooo great. We had our wedding pictures back the afternoon after our wedding including the pictures on a disc and the video of the wedding that was supposed to be 45 min but is for sure longer. We also booked a Trash the Dress session with him the day after the wedding and the resort let us go directly through him.
DJ B: We ordered the top DJ package with the illuminated dance floor. We gave literally every song on paper to our DJ almost in perfect order. He played most of them, however asked if he could play some of his stuff which we allowed him to for a bit and then not sure if we ever did hear the rest of our playlist. We did have to ask him to turn the music up once or twice, he complied.
Flowers A+: They let you look through some pics to choose your boquet, centerpieces, hair flowers, etc. I liked some of the pics but asked for something a little different and boy did they turn out great. The price was reasonable for the amount of flowers we ordered.
I am a pretty easy going bride, the Royal Decameron fit our budget and exceeded our expectations. If anyone wants further information please feel free to contact me. Thank you.
