Pros: Lots of beautiful pools, very spacious resort, excellent service and great food!
Cons: Remote area and beach does not have the clear turquoise water the Cancun/Riviera Maya area is known for
Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort is an incredible resort that's great for both couples and families, offering something special for everyone.
When you check in, you'll immediately be impressed with an overall view of the resort from the lobby -- the grounds are spacious and beautiful with several enormous pools throughout, including a children's pool, a water park and water slide, and a wonderful lazy river equipped with floating tubes. The resort has a very modern tropical feel, and even when at full capacity, it never feels too crowded or busy, so you can totally relax and unwind. And at night, everything is lit up so beautifully -- it's quite impressive and has a very sexy chic feel to it!
The beach area is full of daybeds and lounge chairs with plenty of room for everyone. Although I do have to say the ocean water isn't comparable to many expect in the area's crystal clear beaches -- it's not very clear and isn't calm -- this was at least the case when I stayed at the resort.
The rooms are spacious and clean with wonderful views all around. The rooms with swim up access are incredible and feature gorgeous ocean views -- next time, I hope to stay in one of those rooms!
The food here was great, with lots of offerings for everyone! The breakfast buffet at the World Cafe was plentiful and had a wide variety of choices. I particularly enjoyed our dinners at the Gaucho Grill (Brazilian Steakhouse) and Maris (seafood). Service was always top notch at all the eateries. And if you're considering the Preferred Club option, do it! The PC lounge has delicious snacks, appetizers and desserts available throughout the day as well as a comfy space to lounge and visit (there's a bar there too!) that's close to the pool areas. It is well worth it!

One of the privileges of staying at Dreams Playa Mujeres is the ability to walk next door to Secrets Playa Mujeres -- the adults-only sister resort -- and enjoy the pool and eateries there as well. So essentially, you're getting access to two resorts if you're an adult (no children are allowed at Secrets). It's an easy walk between the two resorts through a pathed walkway, so it's totally convenient to hop back and forth between the two properties.
Lastly, the spa at Dreams is wonderful! The staff is great and they offer a plethora of services at reasonable prices. Make sure to call in ahead of time if you want to schedule a service as the spa is quite popular -- you can also use the spa at Secrets as well!
If you're thinking of getting married here, I think you'll be pleased with the plethora of options for ceremony and reception areas. There are wonderful spaces throughout the property that would serve as great locations for your celebration!
Overall, Dreams Playa Mujeres is a wonderful resort for a family vacation, wedding or honeymoon!
