I got married at the Barcelo Palace Deluxe in San Jose del Cabo in January, 2011. Because they have weddings there all the time, I expected the planning process to be very easy.  I was WRONG!!  Although the wedding planner (Ana) was very nice, she was completely disorganized, and she never returned emails/phonecalls/etc.  I basically had to find all of my own vendors (cake, hair/makeup, music, etc.) because she was not even able to make a referral even after weeks and weeks of emails asking her to forward me the information.

It got to the point where I had to complain to her supervisor and the concierge.  Once I started ccing the concierge and the person in charge of guest relations every time I sent the wedding planner an email, my emails were miraculously responded to in a timely manner.

My wedding turned out really well, but the entire process was incredibly frustrating, and if I knew then what I know now, I would have NEVER gotten married at the Barcelo.

I paid all of the vendors up front because we didn't want to carry around a lot of cash.  They all showed up and did a great job.

If you do get married at the Barcelo, be warned!  Your wedding will turn out okay in the end, but it will be very frustrating!!
