Transportation
We used American Express Travel and although my husband really handled all the logistics for this, they were fabulous and very easy to work with. I will say that when telling your guest about transportation be sure to let them know upon arrival into Cancun they will be bombarded with so many taxis and other services, to just say that they are looking for AMEX travel and to give them your names (the bride and groom). AMEX travel desk was outside past all the other vendors...make sure they have the correct spelling of the names too lolol he had my first and last name swapped lolol...They also have a AMEX desk at the resort all day (for the most part) your guest will have to confirm their departure times and should do that when they get there.
THE ROOMS and the resort was amazing!!!! Everyone was so impressed with the gorgeous rooms and the balcony that had great views especially from building 4 (which is where most of my guest were) I will say that all the rooms for the most part were EXACTLY the same!!! The only room I didn't get to check out was the swim up suites ...I did have a few guest that stayed there but never got around to seeing them. So I'll find out if they took any pics. Upon arrival to the hotel we were handed champagne and wet towels to wipe our hands:)
Ok so my first negative thing to say lol ...I wasn't too impressed with the food at sensatori but I will say that I only got a chance to eat at Spoon, Zocolo and Zavaz....we weren't there that long before going to our honeymoon resort. But I felt that the food was just ok...I did appreciate the breakfast buffet at Spoon in the morning that was pretty good.
THE WEDDING
We had Elena as our wedding coordinator and she was very nice and very helpful. On the day before the wedding (which I would not recommend) we went through our detail sheet and the entire wedding and reception for over two hours. It took time away from us being with family and friends the day before our wedding and they never gave us a tour of where everything was going to be which I think they could have been done if it was completed the previous day (before everyone got there).
I felt bad for Elena because we had such a large party for a destination wedding I think she could have used an additional coordinator to help. This is my 2nd recommendation....I would suggest (esp for larger parties) to have an additional WC (it could be a friend or family member etc.) that can assist so that you wont have to do anything or relay any extra information to them. I would suggest maybe using a friend that knows everything about what you want on the day of including songs and the flow of the reception also making sure the set ups are correct (which was wrong at our ceremony) ...I just felt a bit disconnected trying to go through Elena and the person who was there to help us really didn't know everything until the day we got there. So we ended up trying to find Elena who disappeared after the ceremony and was not there to direct everyone to the reception and me and my husband instead of taking pics were trying to direct ppl to the cocktail hour.
We had our own personal concierge at the resort who was also with me on the day of the wedding at every moment to assist me with anything. Her name was Olympia and she was GREAT!!!!
I actually opted for one of the bridal packages the resort offered. It was the glowing bride package for 295...It including a 80 minute diamond massage that was AMAZING...my skin was glistening all day into the next =) they also did my hair and makeup and it was excellent. I'll have more pics of this soon:) I would highly recommend this as it took off so much of the stress of having to do my own hair and makeup... Although I bought my own products they had really high end products AND THEY DID MY EYELASHES which just made everything look even better :)
I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOVVED MY BOUQUET and I love it even better b/c it came with the wedding package for free LOL. I ordered natural touch bouquets from Wedideas which were ok but just not what I wanted. If anyone is going to use them in the future I would suggest being very clear about what you are looking for. The natural touch bouquet I gave to my MOH to use.
We bought our own tall glass vases and most of them broke by the time we made it there. So Elena gave us additional vases at $4 a piece which was nice...but I was annoyed b/c the vases were something i didn't want lolol it was all my husbands idea and he made all the bouquets for the centerpieces himself (which we will be selling by the way lol) We also got the rose petal aisle but it was so windy the flowers were all over the place ...I would prob suggest a aisle runner...we paid an extra 100 buxs for rose petal aisle runner...Here's a sneak peek at our set up
For the reception everything went pretty smoothly ..the food wasn't bad (just a little cold in my opinion)...The cake came out better than expected and I will have to say I like the strawberry better than the hazelnut cake =) We had the chicken w/shrimp (although no one could taste the shrimp) and the mahi mahi which was pretty good. I have no complaints for the reception, Elena was on the job for the most part with this although she kept disappearing lol but it was fine. We used the maracas for our favors/table place cards and it was a hit (thanks to one of the ladies here who gave me the name tag template) everyone was shaking them all night...our dinner kept being interrupted by kissing LOL. We also had a cool idea for the Table numbers...We had 8 tables and at each number there were pics of us at that age (sorry I don't have a pic of it)
This is all I can think of right now... all in all it was a fantastic day and was perfect in every way!!! =) Hopefully soon I'll have our highlight video from Mexican Wedding Videos and our photos from our FABULOUS photographer Vida Carson =)
My advice to all you brides is to just relax and not worry too much about the minor details...I will say this has been a very EASY process for me with very minimal stress and work =)
