MVP Hair and Makeup Artistry
I feel like I'm just repeating all of the comments below, but they are all so true!! From start to finish, MVP was extremely professional to work with, and, more importantly, amazing at what they do. I have never had my makeup done, but I knew that I should on my wedding day "for pictures." I was still very hesitant because I like the way I do my own makeup and was terrified that a makeup artist would make me look a prostitute or some other overly made-up version of myself. My other fear was on that on my wedding day I'd end up scrambling around trying to figure out how to say "less eyeliner" in Spanish (I got married in Mexico). Therefore, even though professional hair and makeup was included in my wedding package from the resort spa (I got married at Now Jade), I decided it was worth it to me to work with a makeup artist and hair stylist professional who spoke English as a first language. In many ways, I am the easiest person to please--the one way which I am not is with my appearance. I like my hair and makeup a certain way--I have never once went through any beauty treatment (whether an eyebrow wax, haircut, manicure, etc.) without saying "could you please change this?" or "I don't really like this" or "you forgot to get this." I am in no way exaggerating when I say that with Melissa, both during my trial run though and my actual wedding day, I looked in the mirror and was ecstatic. I seriously shocked myself at how pleased I was.
Some of the other reviews indicate that MVP is "pricey," but honestly, MVP is only marginally more expensive than the resort (at least the Now Jade)--like an extra $10 per service, and again, you're working with someone who speaks English and is familiar with US styles, trends, and expectations. To prove how reasonably priced she was in comparison to the resort, my first inclination was to book Melissa for myself, and then have my bridesmaids get their hair or makeup done at the resort spa so I could save money (as a gift to my bridesmaids, I offered to pay for them to get their hair OR makeup done--they came to Mexico for me after all). Anyway, after comparing the cost of Melissa to the resort spa, and realized I was only saving $10 per service, it was not worth it at all so I booked MVP for everyone. Easily the best decision of my wedding day.
MVP can also accommodate big groups and last minute requests. Melissa and two members of her team came for my wedding day expecting to do 6 hairstyles and two make-ups...after seeing how awesome I looked after my trial, three more girls decided to get their make-up done on the day of as well, and two more girls (so basically my entire wedding party) decided to get eyelash extensions. Melissa was more than happy and able to accommodate everyone's last minute requests. All of my bridesmaids LOVED their hair and makeup. It was truly the highlight of my wedding day...other than the whole getting married thing;)
Seriously, at the end of the day, after your wedding is all said and done, all you'll have are photographs depicting how you looked and then the memory of how beautiful you felt. Your hair and makeup play such a huge part into both of those things so if you can splurge there, I encourage you to do so. I can honestly say without hesitation, Melissa made me feel the most beautiful I ever have on my wedding day, and I'll never forget how amazing that felt. Knowing that I was walking down the aisle looking like the best version of myself (note, I say best version of myself because I did still look like me, which was very important to me), it calmed my nerves and made me feel so much better about everything else. I know every bride is told that "you're the most beautiful bride I have ever seen," but I seriously had to agree with them all, thanks to Melissa;)
