My husband and I were married January 29, 2014 at the OGX. We stayed here on our first vacation together and chose to go back because we loved it so much. Melanie, our wedding coordinator, was fantastic! I emailed her a lot, and she was always quick to get back to me. She put together everything just perfectly for us, it could not have been a better day. My flowers could not have been any prettier! They had beautiful arrangements at the reception and ceremony for us as well. Our ceremony was on the cliff side beside the Mayan ruins, it was gorgeous! The lady who officiated for us did a great job. They served everyone champagne at the end of the ceremony. The reception we had at the beach club and we did pay for an extra hour for the reception (only 3 hours are included) it was definitely worth the extra cost. We used the resort DJ, and he was really good as well. Our cake was delicious, and simple. Just one tier is included in the wedding package and we were able to pick any flavour. We opted for the Mexican buffet for our dinner, and if was really good too. Following the reception over half our guests came with us to the disco, to carry on the party.

We arrived back at the room on our wedding night to rose petals scattered on the bed and floors, and received a nice breakfast in bed the morning after.

The only negatives would be the size of the resort, if was difficult to track people down. For our older family members it was hard to get around even with the trolley as there's quite a jaunt from the drop off locations to the lobby, buffets, rooms, etc. They charge lots for any extras (as does every other resort I'm sure), the private reception and extra hour added up quickly for us. Also, we opted to hire a videographer/photographer from outside the resort, they charge a hefty outside vendor fee, which thank goodness our photographer offset for us by giving us a free hour.

The resort is in a good location, next-door to Xcaret, Xplor is two minutes away, it's super close to Playa Del Carmen.

All in all it was a fantastic week, and we really couldn't have asked for anything better. :)
