Secrets Maroma Beach Resort
As soon as I arrived at the hotel, the bellman asked me my name and once he saw I was booked in a Preferred Club room, he whisked me away to the Preferred Club to start my check in. The rooms are very spacious and the Preferred Club rooms have great views of the ocean. There is an outdoor jacuzzi and cute sitting area out on the balcony. My favorite part of the room (and Secrets chain) is the little space next to the front door that is used by room service. There is a door on the outside so they chan put everything in the space and you access it by a door on the inside of the room. Perfect for when you don't want to get dressed to get your room service!
The restaurants were all very good. Surprisingly, my favorite meal of the day was the breakfast buffet as there was a make your own chilaquiles station- brilliant! I stayed at 4 different resorts on my 2 week trip this time and this resort had by far, the BEST refried beans. You may not think this is that important but once you have had excellent refried beans, you really don't anything else. Except chilaquiles. Anywho, food was great overall.
Service everywhere was friendly and efficient. Our conciege always addressed us by name which really makes you feel at home. Room service was always delivered within 30 min and promptly taken away when we called. Internet and calls to the US are free which is great if you are working while on vaca.
Not surprisingly, my favorite part of the resort is the beach. It's a wide stretch of beautiful white sand, clear blue ocean that you can easily wade out into and just laze around in. If you walk to the right, you pass one beach club and then it is completely undeveloped for at least a miles. There are cute little huts with a table attached for those of you who need shade. Service on the beach was excellent. As soon as you get there, someone will lead you to available chairs and set up your towels. Servers come around often to take drink orders and they even have a nice little menu with pictures of the drinks. I didn't even want a drink until I saw the menu!
Although there wasn't a lot of night time action, they did fun little events in the evenings. For Monday night football, there was a huge screen set up in front of one of the outdoor bars and they had a buffet of burgers and nachos set up. One night, there was a psychic/comedian guy who I found extremely entertaining. But definitely not a resort to rage at until the wee hours unless you have a group of friends there.
Overall, I highly recommend it and will certainly be going back again!
