RIU Negril All Inclusive
I got married here on 6/1/13. We stayed here for 8 days before we went to a different resort for our honeymoon. Overall we had a pleasant experience. I recommend keeping up your coorespondence with the wedding coordinator. I had Dionne and she answered all of my questions within about 2 days time each time I contacted her. We had 36 people total. My TA requested me and my husband to be get a double upgrade and that all my guests be in the first two buildings. So they did upgrade us. Most of our group was in 1 and 2 and 6 of them were put in 3. You definitely want to be in the first two buildings otherwise it's a long walk to the lobby, restaurants, etc. On the second day we met with Dionne. She went over pretty much everything we had already gone over. We did the free or $500 package. We had to pay 10.50 extra for each additional person after 12 on top of the 500. She told us down there that we could have used our own minister (even tho he had to witness it). We were kind of bummed about that b/c I had asked before if we could have my father in law officiate. However, the minister was really sweet and really good. We had our father in law speak for about 10 min after the ceremony (he wasn't prepared to do a whole ceremony). We opted to do the sparkling wine immediately after the ceremony (I figured most people could use a drink). Dionne came and got me about 5 min before the ceremony started (which was good b/c we were running late). I chose the beach wedding at the far of the beach which was a good choice b/c you don't have people gawking like you do at the gazeebo. I brought my own music. It was awesome, you have a nice long walk so you get to hear a lot of your song :) The ceremony was about 15-20 min long, which is good b/c you don't want a long one in that heat. We actually lucked out b/c it was pretty windy that day. Afterwards we all jumped in the pool and hung out to the reception dinner at 6. The reception was in the Shadows steakhouse. My steak was good, other people said their's wasn't good. There was another wedding party there too at the opposite end but you didn't even notice them there. The hotel made our cake egg white free (my husband is allergic) and the waiter serenaded us during the cake cutting part. It was a really nice experience. Afterwards people changed into more comfy clothes and we watched the Michael Jackson tribute show and then went and danced at the disco. The entertainment staff was super friendly and fun. The whole overall hotel staff was very pleasant to deal with. The drinks done there are pretty weak unless you go the lobby bar. Also I noticed if you tipped your drinks were twice as strong ;) It felt a lot like being on a cruise ship with shows every night. The jerk chicken hut is to die for! Definitely make sure you go there. Also make sure to check out Rick's cafe. The water is super choppy around it so if you are weary of the water, I would recommend a taxi ride there instead. We had a lovely experience here and I would definitely go back here again if not to another Riu. Jamaicans were super friendly and laid back.
