MVP Hair and Makeup Artistry
When my husband and I decided to get married in Mexico one of my biggest concerns, as it probably is with any bride, was hair and makeup. Since I was having a destination wedding I didn't have the opportunity to do a trial run with a lot of hair/make-up services. MVP was recommended to me by the hotel, Rosewood Mayakoba, and since I was doing a site visit I was able to do a trial test with Melissa.
Melissa is a phenomenal artist. Not only did she do a beautiful job with my hair and make-up, she listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly. I hardly ever wear any make-up, and it was important to me that when I walked down the aisle my husband would see me as he normally does - very natural. I did not want to look like I was wearing a lot of make-up, although I understood that I needed a fair amount to look polished for pictures. Melissa was able to pull it off - my make-up looked perfect for pictures and it felt very natural to me!
Another plus is that I did not run into any language barriers as Melissa's first language is English, but she is also fluent in Spanish. She was able to easily communicate with me and her staff.
My only con is that we did have some communication issues when it came to the time I needed to be ready for the wedding party pictures as well as the number of bridesmaids MVP could accommodate. I was initially told I didn't have to tell MVP the number of people who would be getting services because they only do one wedding a day. A few weeks before the wedding I e-mailed confirming the number and services requested and I was told they might not be able to accommodate because they had another wedding that day. But ultimately it worked out so I really have no complaints about what happened. It was handled professionally and MVP was able to do everyone's hair and make-up. My advice for brides who are having destination weddings is to communicate with your vendors and confirm everything a couple of times. It is important to be clear about what you need; it is very easy for things to be miscommunicated over e-mail and it is both party's responsibility to make sure they understand what the bride needs and what the vendor can do.
I would certainly recommend MVP to any bride!
