I travelled to the Gran Sunset Princess at the end of Septemeber with a few friends. We originally booked a jacuzzi swim up room, then they upgraded us to the Platinum suites which is at the back of the resort closer to the beach. 1 of our couple friends who were celebrating their 1 year wedding anniversary didn't like the allocation of their room so they complained, and got an upgrade to the Villa Laguana. VERY NICE suites, and very large with a private pool and bar, its better for those who like the quiet, no elevators though. You have to walk up the stairs to get to your room, almost like an apartment.

The Platinum suites also have nice rooms, its basically a seperate building (with elevators) with a lobby, bar, lounge, and lap pool with beach beds and chairs.

It was slow season when we went so the other side of the hotel was closed, which sucked because it meant we didnt have access to all the restaurants and bars. There was only 1 swim up pool bar open during my stay. There is a part of the pool where its very lively, the entertainment crew do a really good job enteracting with all the guests, dancing, playing games, volleyball for shots of tequila etc.

Everynight there is entertainment at the theatre, a show outside in the corridor and the night clun is open pretty late and they play good music.

For those who can't walk long distances, the hotel (like most large resorts) does offer a shuttle service from one end of the hotel to the other.

As for weddings, I did see a wedding on the beach happening and it looked very nice. The hotel has the Chill Lounge which would be REALY nice for a wedding reception at night time. If you are a guest staying there, you can book a dinner on the beach for about $120USD.

Hope this helps anyone looking for information on this hotel =)

HI there,

Hoping you can answer a question for me about the Chill Lounge....is it outdoors? Is there any shelter at in case of rain?

Hi there! I have been to the Chill Out lounge twice and it is outdoors with a palapa roof cover in some parts of the restaurant. It's very nice during the day to go to the beach, excellent service. I believe the Sunset Gazebo is attached to the sunset.

Cheers.
