West jet- A+

 

We flew direct from Vancouver to  Cancun and the people on west jet were great. They gave my husband and I free drinks on the house and made an announcement that we were getting married. They also let another bride and myself use up a entire overhead compartment for our dresses and made sure no one put anything else in that bin.

Room- A+

 

When we arrived we were able to go directly to the tower where there is a VIP concierge who checked us in. She upgraded us to a one bedroom master suite on the 16th floor. When we arrived we were welcomed with a honeymoon banner on our door and a gorgeous flower arrangement with champagne and a welcome letter. As a VIP guest in the tower you have free wifi and they have a small choice of food and drinks in the lobby all day. We were in awe of the amount of space in this suite. There was 2 bathrooms a dining area with a huge table for 6, a living room, deck with jacuzzi, separate bedroom with another balcony looking off to the strip, a changing area with huge closet space, bathroom with another jacuzzi and almost 360 degree views throughout.

 

 

 

 

Service- A+

 

Everywhere we went we were greeted with a smile. We have been to many resorts and at dreams they really make you feel special. Even when you call very late for room service they arrive within 30 minutes and arrange the food on the table for you. The waiters at the restaurants and the beach service were all very professional. The service everywhere in the resort was amazing.

 

We even found a msg in the elevator congratulating us on our wedding

 

 

 

 

Resort- A

 

When reading reviews about this resort I was really worried about how dated it might be. This resort may be a little older then some in the mayan riviera, but it is kept so clean.. We have been to crown paradise and also riu caribe and both were more dated then this one. I did not find anything wrong with the decor or the resort itself. The resort had 2 separate beaches that you could go to, and they both had very nice accessible blue water. The atmosphere here is amazing and you can find it at a great price.

 

 

 

The wedding- A +++

 

After a year of planning and imagining how it will be and having doubts and worries, I can truely say that our wedding was perfect and I would not have changed a thing.

 

   Wedding planner - A+

 

Claudia did not have alot of communication with me prior to arriving, so I was a bit nervous.But as soon as I arrived and met her, all that went out the window. We spent a half hour with her and the wedding was planned. We brought her the bag of things we brought to set up for the ceremony and reception and finalized the contract. She ended up giving us vases to borrow for our centerpieces, tikki torches, an extension cord for our sound system as well as an extra hour of photography all for free.

 

  Spa/Salon - A

 

We gave our mothers the scrub and 25 minute massage as a gift and then we took the 60 min swedish massage. The atmosphere of the spa is so relaxing, and it is decorated beautifully. We had the best massage we have ever gotten and then got to relax in the steam room and hot tub. I will always book a massage now on vacation, it was heaven, just what I needed the day before the wedding.

 

I also booked a hair and makeup trial to make sure I liked what they can do. So on the night of my bachelorette I went in to get it done and was so impressed. The lady who did my hair was alice and she didnt speak much english but she was very nice and did my hair exactly like the pic I showed her, and the makeup was done beautifully. On the wedding day my hair needed to be washed, so when I went in she started styling my greasy hair, I asked her to wash it but she hadn't given any time for that so we were a bit behind schedule. So just keep that in mind if you are on a short time frame. Other then that my curls stayed in all day and the volume also stayed, I was really happy with it.

 

 

 

  Ceremony- B

 

The day was very cloudy and windy but it didnt rain ! Everything was on schedule and chair sashes and programs were set up perfectly. We had brought our own sound system to use and it worked perfectly. The minister was pretty hard to understand and I am sure he didnt even read my ceremony script before he started since he stumbled alot, that was the only thing I was upset about. If I was to do it again I would have a friend or family member marry us, since it was only symbolic.

 

 

 

 

  Photography - A ++

 

I have seen alot of girls pay thousands of dollars to have an outside vendor come in to and take pictures for them. I think that is silly, for this resort anyways. We absolutly loved our photos, the photographer Daniel captured every perfect moment. We got 50 photos, a online slideshow and a wedding album included in our package . We loved them so much we bought an extra 20 photos and he gave us 5 free. The book came in the mail less then a week after we arrived home, I was impressed !!

 

 

 

  Videography - B

 

The video was given to my mom as they were leaving the resort, it was about 30 minutes of footage. I really liked it, it brought me back to that moment that seemed to pass by so quick. The music that they picked for the video was not exactly what we would have chosen, but he did include "somwhere over the rainbow" the song I walked down the isle to.

  Dinner- A+

 

The dinner was a buffett style meal, and since we chose the ultimate wedding package we were able to pick and choose from the silver and gold menus. We created our own menu and the food was the best that we had eaten the entire week there. As you were picking out your food, you would come to the soup and a waiter would be there waiting to hold your plate and take it to your table, that was so great. Everything here was perfect.

 Reception- A+++

 

  We were most happy with the entire reception. We held it on Himitsu beach and we rented the light up dance floor and lights for under the tables. They set up our centerpieces, sashes, cake table and guestbook table perfectly.

 

  The restaurant looked over the reception but luckily it was dead that night and we weren't gawked at very much except for one asian family who recorded everything haha. Again we had our own sound system and mc, so we had our dinner music then did the first dances and bouquet toss, garter toss and speeches.

 

   Throughout the whole night the waiters were great. I am allergic to alcohol and it can be hard to explain that I CAN NOT have any alcohol. But my maid of honor made it clear to them and they would keep my glass full of virgin drinks all night. Also anytime a round of shots came they would give me a shot of cranberry, that was really fun.

 

  The waiters at one point started a congo line and stood on a chair with a waterbottle full of sweet shots and would pour them into peoples mouths as they danced by, it was a blast.

  Cake- A +++

 

We upgraded the cake to a two tier cake by trading in the desert that came with the meal. I am so glad we did this because it was the best cake we have ever eaten ! It was so moist and had 4  thin layers of cake and icing with two flavors. We chose chocolate on the top layer and tres leche for the bottom layer. My favorite was the tres leche. They even told us if we wanted our cake that we could call room service and they would deliver a piece to us. We took advantage of this 2 nights in a row.

 

 

 

All in all this was the perfect resort for us to hold our wedding. The location was great, the price was great and the service was great. Everyone raved about it to us and it just confirmed to us that we made the right choice, thank you dreams for making my dreams come true. We will have these memories for a lifetime.
