Pros: rustic, secluded, private, service

When we pictured our wedding we knew it would be on a private beach, somewhere rustic and naturally beautiful and ideally under a giant palapa.

We had been to the Riviera Maya several times and had a few ideas of where to look but most of our original possibilities weren't working out for one reason or another. We didn't want to be locked in to any vendors. We wanted to plan and decorate to our liking. We wanted freedom and options.

Our wedding coordinator, the amazing Erica Bressan of Weddings in Playa, suggested Blue Venado. The location and style was spot on and they allow you to bring in any outside vendors you wish. 

After hours of research I found very little online about this venue... but from the pictures on their site it looked perfect.

We visited in May and immediately fell in love. The beach was beautiful and secluded. It was down a long jungle road. The big palapa was the perfect size for our 40 guests and the entire area was in the sand.
The owner and his staff were fabulous. Every email was answered promptly. Every request was granted.

Not once did we feel doubtful or uncertain.

We tasted the menu. The chef was friendly and helpful. He took our suggestions and comments and ended up preparing a delicious buffet for our guests.
On the day of, we were blown away with how they transformed a normally laid back beach club into a gorgeous formal setting. The staff were amazingly friendly and accomodating.
Erica turned the normally bare dining area into a beautiful set up with lounge area, dining area and dance floor. The bar area has swings which was a big hit.
BV allowed us to make use of whatever they had to set up.
They brought in whatever liquor and glassware we needed. They brought in whatever ingredients for drinks we asked for.
It really felt like they went above and beyond to make our vision come to life and it was beyond our expectations.
I highly recommend Blue Venado. I'm sure it won't be long before it is one of the most desired locations for those wanting a rustic beach side wedding.

It was our dream wedding and we wouldn't have changed a thing.

Christine congratulations on your nuptials! You look absolutely beautiful! I loved the entire style of your wedding and wanted to ask you a few things. I wanted to know about how much you paid for your wedding at BV, from access to the beach, furnishing and buffet (anything really that had to do with BV, as I know you did have an outside coordinator/DJ/Florist). I am also thinking about having 40-50 guests and I fell in love with this venue after seeing my favorite photographers EVER, capture your wedding beautifully! Another thing, did you bring your decorations yourself and have BV staff put it up or where did you get the cute banners and lights? Thanks Christine!

Blue Venado is an amazing spot. You'll love it!

I had a very vivid idea of what I hoped the decor would look like and the end result blew me away!

We brought a lot of decorations that I made, like the little papel picado flags, tiny pinatas etc and also brought the table runners, lanterns for dance floor and xmas lights (although the white xmas lights were WAY cheaper in Playa! Had I known...)

My WC Erica set up the decor with her team. We went and purchased the vases (for $2 each!) and I ordered mixed flowers from the florist.

Erica ordered the white papel banners for us. We got to chose the patterns. They were way more affordable through her connection than anything I saw online.

I will pull up my budget and send you a PM about costs!

Christine congratulations on you wedding, your wedding pictures are amazing! After reading your post and viewing your professional pictures from Del Sol I had to register and comment. In the reception pictures it appeared that everyone had a FUN time and that's exactly what i'm looking for, a fun time with friends and family. I'm looking for a private beach away from the crowds and hotels, I'm not a fan of strangers looking in. Depending on the price of BV I'm highly considering having my wedding there. It looks like the DJ had everyone dancing and entertained. I feel like the DJ, music, can make or break the dance floor. Who did you use and how did you find them? Did you like them? Was it your idea to use inflatable instruments, glasses, act. or did the DJ provide them? Did you ask for a particular kid of music/songs or did you leave it up to the DJ? Is it possible for you to share with me your budget and the vendors you used? Also, was it expensive to use Erica as your WC? What are her fees based on? Any help is greatly appreciated....

It was SO much fun.

You are totally right. The DJ is key for a great fiesta.

Our DJ was Diego from Evolution Mix Audiovisuales and was one of the amazing suggestions Erica made. I actually had a different one in mind (based on reviews on this site) and she assured me this company was just as good and best of all, less expensive! :)

He brought a bunch of props: balloons, smoke machine, bubbles, glasses, glow sticks... but I did bring the guitars and heart glasses.

I provided the key songs and a list of favorites and he mixed it up with a bunch of others.

We were so happy with the service, as you can see in the pics!

I would absolutely recommend hiring a planner and I think that the value and service you get with Erica and Weddings in Playa is exceptional. I would have spent so much more time, money and energy trying to find and choose everything that Erica so easily put together. She knew our budget and made it work, no problem. She also went above and beyond the "wedding" planning - organizing transportation from the airport, planning our welcome dinner, driving us around for supplies and helping with excursions. She was also on call for any questions about anything... really... tremendous help and value.

We had a couple of vans take our guests to BV... a bus wouldn't have made it on the rocky jungle road!

Love your wedding! I see your photos posted whenever I search BV on the internet. Your dress was stunning, and Del Sol, you cannot go wrong there ;)

 

I have my wedding schedule for October 2015, currently at the resort, but I am searching out the prices at BV instead. I have since spoken to Sofia at BV and received a bunch of price lists for decorations etc.

If you still have your budget/ cost of BV, and are willing to share, I'd be so grateful!

 

Also, I know Del Sol did your wedding but what other vendors did you use?
