Pros: wedding coordinator and location
Cons: lack of entertainment at hotel

We had our wedding at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa on the 21st July 2010.  It was perfect everything we had dreamed of.

We chose to have our wedding on the beach at 4pm followed by a reception again on the beach.  During our first week however it rained every afternoon not just for a while like we had been warned but ALL afternoon and it was sheet rain!  On the morning of the wedding I woke up to a rainbow as it had been raining during the night.  By the time I made it to breakfast we had a thunderstorm, thunderbolts and everything!  We were told that if it rains in the morning then the afternoons should be okay so we were still hopeful of marrying on the beach.

I spent the morning at the spa which was lovely and helped me relax.  Our wonderful photographer Marcia E Roberts and her assistant Christopher Rose joined myself and my sister in the spa around 2pm from them on in all I had explain is that we had so much fun and were made to feel very special by everyone.

Our wedding coordinator was Yolande Chamberlain, all I can say about Yolande is she truly is a proper Jamaican with that laid back attitude, she was wonderful, laid back yes but so so wonderful, she had everything under control.  We got our wedding on the beach and the reception was on the lawn as the sea had come up the beach too far, we had asked for a bbq and some scatter tables, we got a wonderful silver service bbq and tables for all even though we hadn’t even done a seating plan everyone was sorted.  Our entertainment was the steel band – a wedding present to ourselves followed by a dj.

I chose my flowers before leaving the UK however when we had our first meeting with Yolande I had to choose them all again which was a little strange but what can you do!  We had a chuppa arch for the wedding – very simple and just what we wanted.  We hadn’t chosen our cake as we were not too fussed what we got but again it was white and had lovely flowers on and tasted lovely.

The hotel is good although I doubt we would go there again just because the evening entertainment is lacking.  We had previously stayed at Starfish Trelawny now Breezes which truly had a Caribbean atmosphere, we felt the Hilton was a little too Amercian for our liking.  The food both at the wedding and the hotel was wonderful.  There is only one bar open in the evening which I felt was really strange as it has room for more.  People don’t all want to be together in one massive resort like this.  The entertainment was downstairs to the bar so the waitresses took forever to get your drinks it was quicker to go upstairs and get your own.

Most of the staff were lovely but there were a few sullen faces around – a little more effort needed for some I think.

We had an ocean view room which was brilliant very spacious and comfortable beds.

The beach is nice – not as good as Starfish and definitely not as nice as Negril on the otherside of the island but it served its purpose.  The best part especially for those with children is the waterpark – this kept them busy for hours.

Please let me know if you would like to know anything more.  For the wedding it was just the location we wanted for a holiday then go to Negril!
