La Residence
Disclaimer: I stayed here about four months ago for vacation, I didn't get married here. :-)
La Residence is a sweet little B&B on the northern side of Napa. The hotel itself is made up of several different structures which is kind of fun. We stayed in the main building but some of the little guest houses around the property were very quaint with porches and chairs to sit and enjoy the scenery. The room was very comfortable with something in between a modern and maybe "French Country" feel. Now that I type that out, the description doesn't really make sense....but it's true! It's maybe more of a classic French Country with lots of ivory colors (at least in the room we were in) rather than patterned and overly lavish.
Anyway....I digress....
The grounds are quite nice and I could definitely envision a small wedding party there. There wasn't any area that looked like a great spot for a large wedding however. As a wedding site itself, the major drawback is that the hotel is just off of the major highway through the Napa Valley. That means that you can see and hear cars driving by. However, if you're planning to wed at a winery, it would be a very good option for lodging as it's easily accessible. The towns of Yontville and St. Helena are a bit cuter than Napa, if your guests want to wander around town. That being said, they're at most 15-20 minutes up the road from La Residence, with lots of good wine tasting along the way.
Amenities at La Residence are quite good. They have a lovely wine and cheese hour with plenty of hors d'oeurves around 5pm. Breakfast wasn't groundbreaking culinary genius but it was very good and satisfying. The pool isn't heated or terribly large, so if you want to lounge around, be prepared for chilly water. They have a small selection of DVDs to borrow as well as DVD players you can check out (they'll hook it up for you if you'd like to use one).
All in all, I would certainly stay here again when visiting in Napa. For a wedding, it could be great for a small party but probably better just as lodging if there's a winery you prefer.
