Majestic Colonial Punta Cana All Inclusive
My husband and I decided to get married at the Majestic Colonial and it turned out to be the trip of a lifetime. I am so glad we chose this resort as it had the perfect atmosphere for our guests. We had 3 small children travelling with us and the resort made them feel at home and all the staff loved the children! We had 30 adults travelling with us and most people really enjoyed the resort. I would say that some people didn't have a great experience but I would attribute that to expecting a 5 star hotel that you would receive in the States or Canada. If you go to the resort expecting the Hilton you will surely be disappointed but if you go in with a positive attitude then you'll love this resort. We never had any issues getting spots at the beach or the pool. Quite often we were even able to get a spot at the pool for about 15-20 of us together.
The wedding was everything we could have ever dreamed of. We woke up to beautiful sunshine and were happy with our choice of having the ceremony at the beach. We paid for the ceremony decoration package(chair sashes, vases, etc.) and also bought one bag of rose pedals for the ceremony. I chose to go with the tropical bouqet that comes with the package and it was beautiful. I also ordered my bridesmaids bouquets and they turned out beautiful as well. Our ceremony was scheduled to start at 4pm but we were running late from pictures so I think we started around 4:30 instead. The staff played my music at the right times, had everything set out exactly how we wanted and the decorations looked beautiful. We had a symbolic ceremony and a friend officiated the ceremony. After the ceremony we had a champagne toast with everyone and then continued with more pictures until sunset. Everything went off exactly as planned and I could not be happier with our wedding coordinator Lisa. We chose to do our reception at the Jellyfish Restaurant but we both feel that if we had our reception at the resort Lisa and her staff would have done a amazing job.
The food was ok. It is definitely not the best food I have ever had but for a all inclusive I was satisfied. Most people in our group had diarrhea at least once on our trip but most of the people that got it will say that it was self induced. You will for sure get diarrhea if you drink all day, don't drink much water, drink the slushy drinks with coconut cream in them, and eat whatever you want. There is so much coconut oil and milk in the food that if you are not smart about what you eat you can almost gaurantee you will get it. I took pepto every day in the morning and the evening and tried to eat food that my body was used to eating and I did not get it once. My husband had a couple issues but he said it was because he went crazy with the food and deserved it! One couple in our group thinks they got food poisoning. I can say this is definitely not true. 12 people ate together at the japanese restaurant and only one person got sick? Highly unlikely since this person was also drinking coconut drinks all day and was suprised to find out it coconut is a natural laxative. Moral of the story is just be smart about what you eat and drink and you'll be fine. I also recommend taking some pepto daily.
The spa was great. I had my hair done as well as my three bridesmaids and it turned out great. My husband and I also had a couples massage and it was great as well.
The staff at this resort are great! It was very rare that we came across a grouchy staff member and most were always smiling and dancing.
The disco is what you make of it. You can smoke anywhere so I only went once due to my asthma acting up the day after we went. Its worth going once to make up your mind. Our group usually just hung out in the common area's at night as there was always some sort of entertainment until at least 10 pm. The shows were ok. We didn't see many of them but we really enjoyed the circus show. I personally thought the micheal jackson show was dreadful but I think each to their own!
I would definitely recommend this resort. We plan on visiting it again on our 5th anniversary and I can't wait to return.
