Las Terrazas Resort and Residences
I didn't get married at Las Terrazas but I did get engaged there. The staff was amazing. They spent time with my then boyfriend planning out options for a memorable proposal. He ended up popping the question early but they planned a wonderful romantic dinner for two on the dock (where he popped the question) the day we got engaged. The whole dinner was so special. I'm sure they'd do an amazing job helping you plan your wedding there.
Notes about the resort --
- Resort is modern, new and chic
- Pool is small but so pretty. Loved the lounge chairs around the pool.
- Food at the O restaurant was pretty good but not amazing.
- You can rent bikes from the resort and explore the island. Or ride to the local convenience store to stock up on goodies and drinks.
- There are a lot of excursion options -- from snorkeling to sailing and other water activities to main land activities like cave tubing, mayan ruin tours, zip lines etc.
- The resort is more of a grouping of residences/condos so you'll have some extra amenities. I.e. washing machine, dishwasher, kitchen, fridge.
- Two bedroom suites are available which makes it a great place for families and groups.
- When I was there they were still building the other half of the resort. From looking at their map/plans it looked like the new section would include a larger pool, bigger restaurant, etc.
- If you want to go in town for dinner, shopping, etc there's a boat that cruises up and down the shore picking people up for a fairly low fare. It's kind of like a bus on the water.
-There was a small bar by the pool area that closed by sunset when we were there. There wasn't really anywhere to hang out after the pool closed except for your room or terrace. We got rum and liquor at the local store and had cocktail hour on our terrace every night.
General notes about the area:
- The beach is a bit sea weedy. Not really a swimming kind of beach. I think it had to do with the coral reef. Almost every resort was the same.
- This is a general note about Belize, they speak english. My fiance tried asking someone where the store was in spanish, they replied, "What?" haha
- You have to take either a boat (1hr+ trip) or puddle jumper plane trip (20min) from Belize City to get to Ambergris Caye. I suggest the plane since you can easily switch planes once you arrive at the Belize international airport. It's not really a trip for people who hate traveling (and adventure).
