AAfter weeks and weeks of research, we've decided to bring our own photographer from home. Seemed like a good idea at first, after reading about a bride who had hired an amateur photog trying to build their portfolio for a fraction of the cost. So we put down a deposit into our group booking and hoped to find a decent photog just starting out. I had posted an ad in our community looking for THE photog and received 50+ emails. I looked through their portfolios one by one very carefully. But as time passed by, I got worried with several 'What if' questions. What if he/she suddenly bails right before our wedding? What if he doesn't capture the right moments? What if we're there and we don't get along too well... Etc. Every day I browsed through bestdestionationweddings for advice from previous brides. Then saw Gonzalo's ad. I went to his blog, and instantly felt that we've found our photographer. We've sent several emails back and forth, he was very prompt with his replies. We decided to give up the deposit for bringing a photog from home and went with Gonzalo instead. On the day of the wedding, he came early to scope around the resort. While putting on make up, someone knocked on my door. I opened and saw a handsome man (after my husband of course) standing in front of me. We talked about the schedule and Gonzalo started taking pictures. The wedding was beautiful and the pictures (although I have not received all of them yet) were amazing. I had asked if he could upload some pictures for a slideshow during our at home reception. Trash the following day was unforgettable. He took us to places that we would not have been able to see if we were at the resort. Gonzalo was like a tour guide/ photographer. We first went to the cenote and the water was beautiful to swim in. Gonzalo is a fantastic diver who is certified and has all the appropriate gear to shoot magnificent pictures underwater. He also observes for natural light which is very important in photography. I had asked him if we could add a few more pictures to show more of Mexico and he was very accommodating with my requests. He asked around different places to get permission to take pictures and we were able to get some pics aound the cabañas. The beach he took us was absolutely beautiful and we had a lot of fun. It was a long day for us and for Gonzalo but we had an amazing experience. All of our friends and family complimented on his work. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics which is on its way! Gonzalo LOVES what he does and you can see this when you meet him in person. I would highly recommend him to anyone who's looking for a great photographer with a positive attitude, open to new ideas, and can provide you with beautiful memories captured in the eyes of an artist.
