MediaMorfosis Cinematography
First of all, I do want to say that Christian and Claudia are extremely nice people. Unfortunately, the end result of our experience with MediaMorfosis was not positive as they cancelled on us three months before our wedding despite having a signed contract leaving us without a videographer.
We had a wedding in Cancun this October 2011, and we started talking to Christian back in March 2011. He was really excited to shoot our wedding, and we were excited to have him and Claudia come. The videos on the website looked amazing, and we really thought the couple could tell our story well.
While there were a number of great videographers who were getting booked at the time, we decided on MediaMorfosis and told the others that we had found our videographer by the end of March 2011. We discussed the wedding, and we agreed to a contract for them to come to the wedding in Cancun. With a signed contract in hand by May 2011, we started asking Eric, the studio manager, about making a deposit payment to hold the dates. Rather than answer our emails, Eric waited until end of June 2011 to call us back. At that point, he and Christian told us that MediaMorfosis would not be filming our wedding, because we had not paid a deposit… although we had been asking for a full month to send the payment. They had decided to film another wedding.
With only 3 months before our destination wedding, we were forced to scramble to find another videographer. Luckily, we had a friend of a friend who found someone in Cancun who was better priced and delivered a video that we are really happy with. But it's a risk you have to take. Especially coming from the US, it is difficult to enforce signed contracts, so be careful.
They have won a few awards recently, and we got the sense that the couple has let the recognition go to their heads a bit. We are guessing that Christian and Claudia got a better gig filming a wedding that would have given them more recognition, but it’s hard to be sure. In the end, we don’t know the reason why Eric didn’t call us back, why the payment was not accepted, and why MediaMorfosis decided to back out of our wedding.
For all we knew, they were super nice and excited to be at our wedding, and then decided that they had found a better opportunity three month before our wedding to film another wedding. I’m sure they would have been great, but in our opinion, it’s really unprofessional to conduct a business in this way. And a scary situation to be in, when you’re not from Mexico and are left with no options a few months before your wedding.
