Riu Bachata All Inclusive
My fiancee and I stayed 5 nights at the Riu Bachata in June 2011 and I would never go back. The air conditioning in all the guest rooms did not work well and it was difficult to sleep. They did have very strong AC in the "disco" which coincedentally only served drinks which you had to pay for. I thought that was odd at an all-inclusive, but it did prove they were capable of having real AC.
The food at the restaurants was terrible, just the same thing as the buffet. Specifically, steak and lamb chops which you could barely cut with a sharp knife. The vegetables seemed like they were out of a frozen dinner. Overall everything was tasteless and fatty, they even managed to make the pizza and hamburgers inedible.
The quality of the alcohol was terrible also. The wine came out of a keg and the red wine was like vinegar. The mixed drinks were ok, and were the only thing getting me through the week.
The beach was beautiful. There was also a beautiful gazebo atop the penninsula which is the one positive aspect of the resort.
The staff was ok, but not of the quality of other all inclusives I've been too.
