Gran Bahia Principe Ambar - All Inclusive
Hi everyone,
I got married at this resort (although we did not stay at Ambar, we stayed at Punta Cana) on November 11, 2011.
I'm just going to make this quick and easy lol.
As far as the wedding aspect goes - it was GREAT. You barely have to lift a finger and your wedding coordinator will do everything you need. You meet with them in the first couple of days of your trip, they ask you basic questions about colours, flowers, music, cake, etc., you choose and then they do the rest. You also leave your wedding favours with them and they will set it up at your reception.
I will recommend that you pay the extra $800ish dollars and get the private reception.
Much more intimate and less gawkers!
I had mine at Il Cappricio (might have spelled that wrong) but I had an a la carte dinner for my group another night at Garden Grill and I will tell you that the Garden Grill is also a safe bet! Great food at both!
I did not hire a DJ.
I rented the stereo equipment instead. We just plugged an iPod into it and one of our friends who sat closest to the equipment table would just change songs if we needed it done, otherwise we just let the playlist do its thing.
I used the on site photographer.
They take great pics. There is a charge of $500 for an outside photographer.
My wedding package included 10 ceremony pictures and then I opted for 34 more pictures for $400. I did a beach session as well (no extra charge to have them do that - up to you if you're going to pay for a bigger package of pictures of pay $12 a picture).
The hotel itself...the a la cartes were great, the main buffet was great, they have a 24 hour snack bar by the beach. Cleaning staff was great.
There were some "characters" at the reception desk and the place where you exchange your beach towels - a few of them acted like you were asking them to kill their first born child when you asked to exchange your towel which you ARE ALLOWED TO DO! So I wasn't impressed with that. But the wedding people are fabulous.
They will also pre-book 2 a la cartes for your group (you are allowed to do 4). If it isn't pre-booked, I would recommend trying the Japanese one too.
I saw a few wedding while I was there and no matter what flowers or arrangements you pick everything always looks gorgeous! They are very well organized when it comes to organizing the wedding.
And here are a few pics:
