I've never posted in this forum, only read reviews and posts, so I thought it was only fair that I post a review since this forum helped me so much!

My wedding was held at the rose hall aqueducts, with reception at the Iberostar rose hall suites' gourmet restaurant calabash.  Everything was amazing and better than expected! 

Check-in:  quick, easy, no problems.

Restaurants: calabash was great, all of the other restaurants were just ok. If I did it again, I'd only eat at the buffet and at Calabash, as the buffet was phenomenal with very quality dishes. 

Property: gorgeous! Clean, well kept, bug free.

Service:  Outstanding! Very receptive staff, addressed any concerns timely.

Welcome dinner: we held a welcome dinner at Aunt Rubys steakhouse for our 50 guests.  The tables were set up pretty standard with appetizers, entrees and dessert.  I was going to hold my wedding reception at aunt rubys, but glad I didn't. At the welcome reception, it was sooo hot, even at 8pm, that we were all sweating. We still had a great time as it was the first night everyone came together.

Private bonfire party: immediately after the welcome reception, we took a short walk to the beach for a bonfire party with a dj and open bar. There were chairs set up, as well as small tables.  It was a great time to get our Jamaican groove on!    We had a blast!!

Wedding: The bus picked up our group  3:30, and the 2nd bus for the bridesmaids and bride at 3:45.  It is a quick 3-5 minute ride from the hotel. The aqueduct is simply stunning and breathtaking. I chose it because after reading reviews and seeing pictures if the Iberostar weddings, I wanted something more intimate and scenic. I was very happy with that decision because I saw several weddings at iberostar, and there are quite a few hotel guests around walking, talking and having a good ole time during the weddings.  But the beach location is in front of Aunt Rubys, and its very gorgeous.    I will also say that the wedding planners Nicole and Tiffany do a great job of keeping the bystanders out of the way of pictures and from making too much noise. Anyway, the wedding the aqueducts was perfect. No complaints at all. The planner (Almarie with tropical weddings Jamaica) was fantastic- very responsive, very reasonable, and very organized.

Reception:  Nicole and Tiffany did a great job setting the tables based on the tablecloths, favors, chargers and napkins I provided. Jodi with tai flora elevated my vision and the centerpieces were beyond perfect.

All in all, it was a 5 star vacation, wedding and reception.  The only advice I would give to future brides is to make sure that you have an iPod for the djs at Iberostar.  We brought ours just in case, and forgot to bring it to the reception, so the dj didn't play most of the songs we wanted. They have a lot of reggae, but not a lot of mainstream or old school music.

I know this is short compared to most reviews but hope it was helpful.

Congrats to you and your new husband! I'm getting married at the Suites next month and having our reception at Calabash. Do you remember if Nicole had dinner menu at each guests seats or was there one main on the table. Did you ask your guests for their food choices in advance? If not, did the everyone just place their order at the reception? Were you able to substitute any of the food dishes? I know just a few questions, but you were in my shoes so I know you how it is esp when the wedding is one month away! lol

PS - Just curious how much did you pay to have your ceremony off site? We're having 45 people plus us. You can send me a message with that behind the scene. I just want to know if it would've been something for us to consider back then when we were planning. Congrats again!!

Thanks for the congrats! There were two menus on each table, but you can request more or less if you like. I chose two entrees for the guests to choose from - snapper and steak. I personally had the lamb, which was phenomenal. Only substitute we requested were for food allergies.

Hi,

Amazing. Just amazing. I was also wondering about the fee for the offsite wedding.Did Nicole and Tiffany set up the offsite wedding at the Aqueduct? How did you get all your guest to the offsite wedding location. My wedding will be July 1,2012. I am expecting about 90 guests. The only option Iberostar suites is giving me due to the amt of ppl for the reception dinner is Aunt Ruby's steakhouse!!! I'm so worried.

Can you send me the info onthe details for the Aqueduct?

Contact Almarie at [email protected]. She is fabulous and nice-priced. She did all the coordinating of transportation to and from the resort to the aqueducts, as well as set up chairs, music, photos, etc., at the aqueducts.

You probably can get more people in Calabash if you want to compromise the dance floor...I would definitely recommend calabash over aunt rubys...its simply stunning. absolutely gorgeous.

I'm doing the same, wedding ceremony and cocktail party at the Aqueduct and dinner/reception back at the Suites. I'm going through Hummingbird Hall (www.hummingbirdhall.com)....they worked out to be cheaper than Tropical weddings Jamaica. But, they'll only do a 2 hour cocktail party.

Kgreenwood, congrats! I'm actually having the dinner at Aunt Ruby's. There is a wedding going on there that day, so that bride got first choice of the restaurant and she picked Calabash. I wanted the steakhouse all along, but now I'm totally scared based on your review. We are only getting half the restaurant, which means we can't have our own music/dj.....they'll allow us a pa/speaker system for speeches. So, I don't know what kind of music plays, hopefully it's good! And then we are renting out the music bar for the dancing/reception, making playlist so the DJ just has to hit play. Now I'm wondering if the disco would be better than than music bar. Any thoughts?

The music bar is much nicer and a tad more intimate than the disco, so I'd go that route. I would definitely recommend bringing your iPod to connect with the DJ. I asked them to play old school goodies at the reception while we were eating, and one song they played was "Secret Lovers," LOL! Totally inappropriate, even though it was an old school jam. Aunt Ruby is a popular choice, and a lot of people seem to have fun there, it just wasn't my first choice.
