We used Ivan from DJ Doremixx for music and lighting at several of our wedding weekend events on May 5-7, 2011.  Ivan was absolutely fantastic and was, without a doubt, one of the best wedding decisions that we made.   Music sets the tone for any social event and is one of the few things that can truly make or break a party.  Ivan’s amazing DJ talents took our wedding from good to EPIC!  EVERYONE (from our college friends to my 85 year old grandpa) was out on the dance floor the ENTIRE night.  It was truly spectacular and a month after the wedding, every time we meet up with our friends conversation inevitably turns to how fun our wedding reception was!   And the dance floor….ooohhh that light up dance floor.  Our guests loved it.  One of my husband’s friends commented that the DJ could have been playing Beethoven and everyone would have still wanted to be dancing on that thing J  The props that Ivan’s staff hands out also add to the party experience.  For some reason grown adults go CRAZY for balloons, masks and light up bracelets.  SO FUN!

We also used Ivan for the music at our welcome party two nights before the wedding.  Ivan provided a selection of music with a ‘fun/beachy’ vibe and was there the entire night to make sure that things ran smoothly.   He also played the music for our wedding ceremony and again, he timed all of the songs perfectly!

One of the best things about using Ivan is that you never have to worry about the events running smoothly.  Several months before the wedding he provided us with a very detailed spreadsheet that we filled out with all of our music choices and reception time line.   Ivan coordinated everything to a tee and did a fantastic job of announcing the dances and speeches as well.   Literally everything was right on cue…an overly-organized bride’s dream!!

A few words of advice:

1.  We gave Ivan our reception timeline and filled out the songs that we wanted for entrances, special dances, etc.  Other than that, I really recommend just letting him know the TYPES of songs that you like, your ‘must’ play and ‘do not’ play list as well as the vibe you want for your reception.   Ivan and his staff are total pros and really know what will get your group dancing.  I think that telling him every single song to play would have been a total mistake.  Just let him know if you want a crazy dance party or a more laid back feeling and he will make it happen for you!!
2. I really liked that we kept the dance floor white during dinner and the 'special dances' and then had it light up crazy colors for the dance party.  It definitely helped to define the mood of the different parts of the reception.
3. I’m a little Type A so I would occasionally get nervous if I didn’t immediately hear back from Ivan.  Not to worry…he’s busy but extremely reliable.   Toward the end of the planning I started emailing with Patricia who I believe is his office manager and she was great!  Ivan even went to my resort and met with the wedding coordinator to evaluate my lighting needs before I arrived and then met with us again after we got to Mexico.  He had every detail of our correspondence on his laptop and was extremely organized.  Worry not…you are in very capable hands!

I know this is long and wordy but I could go on and on.  We owe so much to Ivan and can’t thank him enough for everything he did to make our wedding spectacular!
