Pros: Resort was beautiful, service was great, all guests were happy
Cons: Expensive resort vendors, wedding planning communication is very poor (just get your own!)
I would totally rate Playacar Palace 5 stars, but the wedding planning portion of the experience was so terrible.
The Resort: Fantastic - great service, great experience!
1) Absolutely perfect location for our various guests - right in the heart of Playa, on a sandy beach with a great pool. Steps to 5th Avenue and haha, a Starbucks! It was also convenient to various excursions in the area. Right next to the ferry to Cozumel, so much stuff was nearby and it was the perfect blend for a b

Quick Summary
The bottom line for my review is that our wedding was stunningly beautiful, the service was stupidly awesome, my reception was perfect (for me), the food was great, and when it was all done, I can truly say it was the best week of my life. That said, there is a lot the resort can improve on to make this experience less stressful.
Prior to Wedding
1. Choose a Date
This is SO important because there is such a huge difference between “tourist” season and “slow” season.

Cons: Internal Communication
My (now) husband and I first had the idea of having a desintation wedding after spending a glorious week at Sun Palace in Cancun back in April 2011. We had the most amazing time and were absolutely blown away with the exceptional level of service that Palace resorts provided. When our time to get married came, we did a lot of serious research (as in multiple pages of excel spreadsheets with numerous catagories) and partnered with Destination Weddings to help us decide. After going back & for

My husband and I got married at Playacar Palace over Labor Day weekend this year. We really had a beautiful wedding, but I wanted to give an upfront and honest review about the hotel and our event to help other couples prepare! I HIGHLY recommend visiting the hotel (and any hotel) in advance! It's your wedding so knowing what you're getting into, the vibe of the hotel, etc. solves so many issues and worries. We visited a few and wound up loving some we didn't expect and hating others we thou

Cons: outside vendor fees, guest pass fees
Playacar palace is beautiful and the beach can't be beat. It is very private and clean. All of the workers were up every morning scrubbing the entire place and raking the sand. They have many activities and some night activities too. The wedding decorations were wonderful and the flowers were gorgeous. My family had an awesome time.
