Pros: Beautiful resort, close to 5th Ave, Great Wedding
Cons: Vendor fees, extra fees, non-communication with staff,
Hello. My husband & I had the most incredible wedding at The Royal Playa Del Carmen. Even the little things that went wrong...were so minor, but I will mention them for future brides.
Travel Agent: We went with Liberty Travel... Bad Idea. Its just better to have your guests book on their own threw Expedia. My Agent never returned E-mails or Phone calls. This was the most stressful part for me planning wise. They also over charged a lot of guests. They said they will price match & the

Pros: Wonderful wedding planner and staff
Cons: Horrible experience with beach venue
On site wedding planner and staff was wonderful. Accommodations were great Telephone coordinator was confusing, language difficulty, and stressful. Gazebo was not available so we had beach venue for about 100 people. Seaweed came in that day and they worked all day to keep seaweed at bay. I can't say how much I appreciated wedding planner and staff. On the negative side we did not know beach is PUBLIC and is next to ferry dock. We had 75 we'll behaved onlookers at our wedding! I felt strongly to write a review, because during my planning process these reviews were very helpful to me. I got married on Sunday, 12/14/14. We had 55 guests attend our wedding from all over the country and even some guests from Israel. We arrived to Playa Del Carmen on Thursday, 12/11, which was perfect because a lot of our guests arrived that day and Friday, 12/12. It also allowed us to prepare our OTB bags for our guests.

the reason for choosing this venue was that my husband's friend got married at the Royal Cancun and they had a great experience. we wanted to be away from Cancun so Playa del Carmen was a good choice i think. specially with 5th Ave where there are so many fun shops and nice to be able to hang out outside out the resort in 1 min! i think most guests were p

Pros: Perfect service, great quality!
Cons: Not really
I love the place, love the service people offer, the wedding was perfect, every single things was beautiful, I got married on the beach and probably this is the only thing I did not really like at all, the beach is busy and small, I mean between the resort and the ocean, but everything else was fantastic!

Pros: Excellent service, great food, clean rooms, pretty beach
Cons: Nothing!
We got married May 3rd, 2014 and could have been happier with this resort. I have been to Mexico about 20 times and this one is one of my all time favorites. The location in downtown playa del carmen really sealed the deal for me when choosing a resort. My guests could walk around downtown playa every night before returning back to the hotel. The food is amazing, service is superb, and the beach is beautiful! You won't want to leave!

Pros: Location, food, service, on-site wedding planner
My husband and I stayed at the resort 10/12 - 10/17. As soon as we arrived, we were taken to the Romance concierge and offered champange.
Our room was upgraded to a Junior suite with swim up pool. We do not typically spend much time in our room on vacation (which was the case this time), but we were very happy with the layout! The bathroom is very nice. There is a toilet, shower, and sink in a room with a door. Then, a separate very large vanity and large closet. We stayed in room 630, which i

I got married at The Royal Playa del Carmen on June 17, 2013 at 4 PM at the Gazebo. We had 39 people attend our wedding in paradise. It was fabulous! I have written a review of the resort followed by a detailed description of my wedding. Sorry if it is long! I did a lot of research and learned a lot through the process that I would like to share!
Resort: A++

Warning – this is going to be long-winded, but helpful I hope! I am fresh from the big day, and won’t have most of my professional shots for a while, but wanted to get this down before I forgot anything, so am including mostly amature photography where helpful. I’ll include the professionals when I do the full review of my photographer, Del Sol, a little later (there are a couple they sent me early below)! Pros: Everything, amazing wedding spot, and amazing resort all around
Cons: I didn't like that the men had such harsh dress codes
We were married on October 19, 2012 at Pelicanos Beach. My husband had only one request for the whole wedding, and that was that we get married on the sand. I started to think twice about it, and actually once we were there we considered moving it to the gazebo. The gazebo was already booked, but I’m so glad we got married on the sand after all! I should have written this review weeks ago while it was all still fresh in my mind, but I will try to remember all the details I can!

We just returned from our amazing destination wedding in Playa and everything was so wonderful! We married on Friday, August 17th with 45 guests. We had our ceremony at the beach-side gazebo at 5:00 p.m. with the cocktail hour in the garden to follow and finally the reception on beach outside of Pelicanos. The weather was gorgeous and the locations were everything I hope they would be!

I will try to make this simple and helpful for future brides and sorry if it’s a little long, I wanted to get everything I thought could be important for future brides.
My guests and I had the time of our lives! This hotel is truly wonderful and the wedding planners will pull of your wedding seamlessly. The concierges, staff, rooms, beauty and food are five stars. You will want to spend your whole days at the pool and pool bars. We had about 80ppl.

We had a wonderful wedding week at The Royal PDC in July 2012. We are both in our 30s and wanted something different than the traditional Texas church wedding, so we took 11 friends and family to Playa for a Wednesday afternoon beach wedding and the week couldn't have been better!
FLIGHT - American Airlines - A - We flew out of DFW to Cancun on American Airlines on a Sunday morning. No problems at all. Our flight back was on Friday. It was a little busy and the Cancun airport isn't e

This will be very long and detailed, because the reviews I read helped me so much. I started planning the wedding back in April of 2011. We were undecided which resort to choose and this forum helped a lot. After we battled the guests, travel agent and each other, we chose The Royal in Playa del Carmen. We originally chose it because it had a family resort next to it, and some of the wedding party was going to need to bring their kids. That changed later, we still loved the Royal PDC.

I ordered my braids maid dresses and flower girl dress from Weddingdressesgood.com. I was completely blown away with how beautiful they turned out. Truly was better then I thought. Very elegant, well made, perfect color, and arrived on time! They were very friendly as well. It was a pleasure. I'd recommend them to everyone!

We have traveled all inclusive before, and The Royal really is a top notch place! Almost all of our guests had never been to an all inclusive, and everyone was super impressed with everything about the resort!

We had a swim out beach front, room 512. It was gorgeous, and right out of our patio door was both the pool (and swim up bar!) and Pelicanos!

Overall: We began wedding planning more than a year out. The Royal Playa del Carmen was everything we wanted and more! We could not have asked for a better resort for our guests - many of them are already planning return trips. The service, the food & drink, and the resort grounds themselves just cannot be beat and we were treated like royalty from the moment we stepped on the property.
For more information on the resort itself (as far as being a guest) - I'm going to try to focus mo

My Husband and I just returned from our destination wedding at The Royal in Playa Del Carmen. We had such an amazing experience and wouldn't change anything!
We had about 45 guests come to the resort and all had an easy time getting to the resort. Some rented a car and others took shuttles from the airport. Playa Del Carmen is extremely safe and its a great location for people who like to go out on adventures. The resort is amazing - the pool and the beach awesome- so for others who don

We stayed at the RPC from April 18th to the 28th. My review is written from the perspective of a bride who spent a whole lotta money to have a wedding at the resort. We had 16 guests attend our wedding.
We ran into problems when we booked rooms at the resort. We booked in November, assuming that would be plenty early for the middle of April. It was not. We booked a Royal Junior Suite for Wednesday to Friday, but had to book a Royal Junior Walkout for the Saturday night, as they said t

Pros: excellent service at hotel, beautiful resort, all inclusive
Cons: ridiculous vendor fees, poor communication, strict wedding rules
I recently got married at the Royal, Playa del Carmen and have mixed feelings about holding a wedding there. The day of the wedding, everything couldn't have been better and we had an amazing time, but it was the pre-wedding process that was tough.
First of all, the communication from the beginning was very hard and we called and emailed several times without hearing back from anyone. We decided to hire an outside wedding planner to help us with numerous details and thank God for that

After doing our research and getting referrals from several people, we decided on the Royal in Playa del Carmen to have our destination wedding. And trust me, we were not disappointed. For starters, the resort is beautiful and is very high end. The service was exceptional. We had over 80 guests fly in and stay at the Royal for our wedding and all of them were also WOW’d with the exceptional service, great food, and fabulous accommodations.
When arriving at the resort you are immediately

BEST hotel I've stayed at. Well worth the money - you will not be disappointed. We had 60 of our cloest family and friends with us and not one person complained about The Royal PDC. It was very clean, the rooms are gorgeous and big (even the Royal Jr. Suites), the staff was outstanding, and the food was delicious. If you plan on doing a destination wedding, this is by far the best hotel to do it at. They have done many weddings, are extremely helpful, and know exactly what they are doing.
